Lee signed with the Giants... and I know Tiger337 was really interested in signing him for the Tigers so... Lee lost Lee.

Well... That should light up the lamp...

Week Fourteen: Detroit Lions (9-3) @ Chicago Bears (4-8)

Time to step up monster-athletic-kid but ferociously-raw... Let's see you at NOT raw but at MORE-than-flashing dominance. Holmes, let's see what you took a shot at in the 3rd round... I believe in you... Both. -
Two points... 1) Yeah, got it. I'm insulting Benedict Arnold, true statement. 2) But also, Benedict Arnold DID **** over the US military, specifically by handing West Point over to the British. So, I think I am also correct...

Got it... joking... But... Not joking...

I was an atheist by the age of 11. My mom forced me to get Confirmed (Catholic) at the age of 13. But I don't hold any grudges. She was just tougher than I am (she's tougher than most). But I was shy and introverted at that age, so: Atheist by 11. Agnostic before then (who knows anything before that age...?). I guess I was also a "Catholic-in-training" before that age.... but obviously the training didn't take. And Confirmed Roman Catholic. That's all on my "resume". It didn't change anything. And like I said... no grudges. It went in one ear... and right back out the other anyways. Hope that doesn't offend anyone...

Week Fourteen: Detroit Lions (9-3) @ Chicago Bears (4-8)

But THEY (meaning Holmes, his NFL scouts, coaches) did the actual WORK on evaluating whether Young, and/or the cost to obtain him was worth it and they decided to NOT pursue him. I believe he was not even under consideration. That's all I need to know. No one cares if it's "low risk/ high reward" if he was a crappy fit for the Lions. And... Final Word: I'll take Holmes judgement on that. As gospel. -
He did not have a similar view. He had a different viewpoint entirely.

I would also state that... Holmes has the ability to identify exceptional, or at least positive contributing talent, or the possibility of such. In almost every round. So yes, he's not going to bat 1.000. There's NO GM who does. But I'll take my chances with his ability to identify talent. -

Just wanted to add something here. Specifically to arrows in Holmes' quiver. The challenge is for Holmes to locate a Montez Sweat (1st round - 26th), Maxx Crosby (4th round - 106th overall), or Brian Burns (1st round - 16th) with one of his draft picks. He's taken a few shots at pass rushers, Pascal/ Hutchinson/ Houston/ Levi, etc... We don't know the end result yet since some of these guys are too early in their career and are going through growing pains. Some more than others. A surprise riser/ performer could come out of their current ranks, even. Or he could find one of these guys in the 2024 draft, with a late 1st or 2nd, two 3rds... or a trade up to get his guy. Chase Young is garbage. At least for the Lions. And no, I'm not interested in beating the 49'ers pick with a 2024 2nd to get him. IMO, It's a wasted draft pick if sent out in a trade for Young. Buddha is correct: If there was any guy to get, it was Sweat. But that costs a 1st rounder and a large salary commitment very (too?) early in the Lions rebuilding process. I was interested in Sweat. But if the Lions would rather hold onto all of their 2024 arrows... I'm with djhutch, I'll trust Holmes to find his Montez Sweat AND Maxx Crosby pass-rushers in upcoming drafts. So yes... I want Holmes to have as many arrows in his quiver as possible as I think he will be successful in continuing to identify young talent in the draft that adds to future Lions success. My 2 cents. -

Uncertain. Players were drafted with known faults and developmental curves. But if Ausar can't shoot... and never develops a shooting touch, is that on him, or the developmental team? The only way to know that is for a different developmental team to work with him and he "magically" improves his shooting all of a sudden, drastically. Some guys that are not great shooters are, simply, not great shooters. Is that on the player, developmental, or GM who drafted such player? I mean, something like defense (Ivey) should be simple player focus. We DID see Ivey and Duren improve significantly last year... even with a lot of learning and improvement still yet to come... (we hope). -
MSU goalie Trey Augustine, very highly regarded 2nd round selected goalie. I'm interested in seeing how Bicker develops. I have him as a dark horse riser. Lots of speed.
-
Compher's been spectacular... for what the Red Wings wanted out of him. But someone else will just have to step up (Copp?) and, by adding Kane tonight, maybe we're at par, at least for this game.

But that was the Randy Smith rebuild. The Dave Dombrowski rebuild went, just a little... better. -
Tyler Mattison is the guy to keep an eye on IMO... Maybe not in 2024, but moreso in 2025...
-
And/or a WHIP of less than 1.0. A high K-Rate and a low-WHIP does it for me... Although Harris has me now looking at K-BB ratio as well...

The: "Can we not do this anymore?" 2024 MLB Draft
1984Echoes replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Detroit Tigers
This was the last year to hope for lottery luck. Or at least we hope it is, for quite awhile. So we shoulda/ woulda been hoping to move up significantly in this draft and not care about next year's draft. Even if we don't make the playoffs... we should be better next year (just from health and bounce back seasons alone... as well as reinforcements from the minors...). If we end up in the 15th or 18th or whatever spot... I'm not really going to worry or care about next year's "lottery". This was the year. IMO. But it's already a done deal at the 11th spot so, I'm good with whatever we can get from that spot... -

Holmes losing a draft pick that he could have turned into a player better than Chase Young. -
