  1. I don't think Russia is done with Syria. Just a hunch.
  2. New OC is being reported as Chip Lindsay. Former OC at UNC.
  3. All this subway talk is making me want to watch "The Warriors." A movie my dad decried as totally bereft of plot until I explained to him that it was Xenophon's Anabasis and it mapped the journey of the Ten Thousand who needed to escape the Persian empire to get to the sea. That Coney Island was a stand-in for the ancient greek settlement of Trabizond except it didn't have as many Russians in the 1970s.
  4. Department of Low-IQ Riot Shootings Because Mama Said To
  5. Incident reminded me of of a board for Airman of the Quarter in 1987 that asked me about Bernie Goetz (incident happened in 1984) and I was the only person in the group of 4 people i was competing with who got that he was convicted on illegal possession of a firearm. I think that was my last tangible intellectual success that I can recall.
  6. And the story about Putin stealing Robert Kraft's superbowl ring could have had a different outcome.
  7. I used to enjoy this guy's tweets back when they were called tweets. https://bsky.app/profile/rocinante.bsky.social/post/3lby2kjycyk2y
  8. Concur that it won't be as compelling as last year's game which was the highest drama. Michigan sealing its legacy on its way to a natty, Saban disgusted with his mercenary team failing to stop Blake and JJ et.al., and Michigan's elite D stopping Milroe on 4th down in overtime. Hard to measure up to that. But, If you were the bag man sponsor of a bowl game that was not also a CFB playoff game you could not ask for a better matchup. There are sicko fans who will consume all content involving their teams.
  9. The enormous fanbases of the two best programs not in the CFB
  10. BLM protests over George Floyd were the proximate reason for Bureau of Prisons and other assorted federal law enforcement standing on the Lincoln Memorial steps in full riot gear. Its going to happen again. People are going to cause a reaction. Gonna be two-three years of chaos until the next pandemic or the War.
  11. Hunter Biden and RFK Jr. had basically the same trajectory. Fail sons with drug problems. The RW propaganda machine is way more effective if you compare those two.
  12. Yeah, i think that is the plan. I had heard from various folks that his parents want him to redshirt.
  13. that game was nuts. We have a handful with Josh Allen.
  14. IF YOU ARE A DIEHARD MICHIGAN FAN.... Get thee to a copy of The Victors by the Mgoblog guys. So freaking good. The joy is so strong. https://shop.undergroundshirts.com/collections/mgoblog/products/victors-commemorative-book-by-mgoblog
  15. Man, we didn't make New Years day and we have to play Bama again. Lets hope we have the same result.
  16. There are a couple things that are no longer on order in warfare (at least for now) based on the first week of the 2022 Ukraine invasion by Russia. Nobody wants to attempt tactical airlift or air assaults under fire. The Russian "special forces" attempt to seize Hostumel airport taught a lesson that you cannot expect to move large groups of ground troops by air while the airspace is contested or modern anti-aircraft weapons exist. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Antonov_Airport Now, there is no more self-loving element of the various World militaries as airborne forces (fighter pilots are right up there). But, you will hear quickly from that airborne community that while they think they should be able to jump out of airplanes in certain circumstances when stealth conditions are available or in order to train in toughness and attention to detail, there is little value in having entire fleets of airlift aircraft with hundreds/thousands of troops crash into the ground while crossing the forward line of own troops.
  17. somebody posted a meme with the Law and Order writers room losing their minds over the possibilities. Their twist would be that it was his cheating wife or his gay kid or his business rival but that they violated some procedural matter and the killer got off.
  18. bummer. To paraphrase Burt Bacharach: "what the world needs now is dead dictators"
  19. Why are the PRC building planes trying to match the F-35’s capabilities and why are our allies desperate to add F-35’s to their own arsenals? Also, does the entire history of warfare not shed light on the battles of procurement being some of the most best decisions or worst decisions made by various nations? For example, Hitler should have bought more of x rather than the v-2 which was an obscene expenditure for his country but which was in the immediate post war seized by both sides as crucial tech. Or, The obscene expenditure on the combined bomber offensive over Germany decided the fate of the Luftwaffe which couldn’t build fighters or any other anti aircraft weapons effective enough to stop it. And for all that expense it allowed the allies to land in Normandy and to dominate the battlefield in France because of absolute control of the air.
  20. All true. The level of concern for being targeted is very high among a stratus of people who think they are above reproach and for whom can buy ink by the barrel metaphorically.
  21. Everything above was purchased at great expense by the American taxpayers for hotly contested requirements decision making process which involved their elected representatives as final arbitrator. So, there was a plan, there was a reason for the plan and there was follow on technology that drove their replacement. Maybe there was swindling involved in these investments but i would bet you have a technology grave yard of your own. How many iphone or micro usb cables will you acquire before usb-c?
  22. I think the preference for the national security community would be she removes herself before they have to burn sources and methods but you do you.
  23. Now if we can get Putin to fall before Jan 20 that would be smashing.
  24. what does the above prove?
  25. I'm not sure we can say this with certainty but... https://bsky.app/profile/joncooper-us.bsky.social/post/3lcsghrnpes2m Jon Cooper ‪@joncooper-us.bsky.social‬ With the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad, Tulsi Gabbard’s chance of being confirmed as Trump’s Director of National Intelligence has fallen to ZERO. The only question is whether the Syrian rebels will release the secret files on Tulsi before or after her confirmation hearing.
