  1. Third straight power play for the Wings. Need to start converting. Just like that! Raymond 1-0.
  2. This is the 2nd time the Bruins have had a shorthanded 2 on 1.
  3. Man, what would have been the opening goal crossed the red line 0.1 seconds after the period ending buzzer sounded
  4. Yikes, the Wings have the NHL’s worst penalty since late January, at just over 10%.
  5. Lively first five minutes. DeBrincat rings one off the post on a 2 on 1. Then the Wings kill a penalty.
  6. Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Philadelphia all have won already today. I don’t care about Buffalo as so far ahead now and there still is a cushion over Philadelphia, but the Pens and Jackets victories keep the pressure on the Wings.
  7. Pressure remains on for the Wings, as while they host the Bruins tonight some of the other teams in the mix play lesser opponents Winnipeg at Pittsburgh - want the Jets to win this matinee Seattle at Columbus - want the Kraken to slow down the Jackets NYI at Montreal - no overtime, no loser point, please Toronto at Ottawa - ok,it’s not that I want the Leafs to win, it’s that I want the Sens to lose
  8. Tonight’s game is on ABC,hence the later 8pm start.
  9. Like GalagaGuy posted in the games thread, there a is logjam of 6 teams with either 84 or 83 points, fighting for 5 spots. With NYI’s late loss in regulation to Ottawa, Columbus has moved into 3rd place in the Metro. Friday we can take a breather. No game with playoff implications for the Wings (unless you count Washington - 8 points behind the Wings - playing the Devils. I don’t.
  10. That’s about as exciting as regular season games get.
  11. Very chippy all night. Playoff race intensity.
  12. The Wings have definitely been the better team in the 3rd. Much of the 2nd too.
  13. Compher had been having a horrible shift ..and then he tied it!
  14. “Holding the stick” penalty is an insult after Kane had been stripped of his a few minutes earlier. 1-0 Habs on the power play goal.
  15. Another one just now. Sore shoulder maybe?
  16. Definitely. And I haven’t either on MBN
  17. Copp a game item decision. Skating in the pre game.
  18. Johnny O’s back in town (or at least a Johnny O jersey). Let’s go!!
  19. Some better news on the out of town scoreboard tonight. Ottawa lost in regulation to Washington and are 5pts back of the Wings with a game in hand. While the Sens aren’t quite out of it, at the moment there are 6 teams battling for 5 spots: Montreal 84 pts (15 games left); Pittsburgh 84 (14); NYI 83 (14); Boston 82 (14); Detroit 82 (14); and Columbus 81 (15).
  20. The Wings and Bruins are practically even-Steven, as Sid Abel would say, holding the two wildcard spots. Both have 37-23-8 records for 82 points through 68 games. Bruins lead Regulation Wins 27-26 while the Wings lead ROW 35-34, so the tiebreakers are very much undecided. Columbus is 1 pt back with a game in hand so is fractionally ahead in points percentage. Three games of note tonight: Ottawa at Washington - want an Ottawa loss. The Sens are only 5 pts behind Boston and Detroit with 2 games in hand and only 5 teams from a division can get in,, so can’t be ignored. Pittsburgh at Carolina - want a Carolina win. Penguins are 1 pt up on the Wings with a game in hand. Assuming the Wings hold off Ottawa, the Wings only have to beat out any one of Columbus, Boston, NYI or Pittsburgh. Philadelphia at Anaheim - this game is barely a factor, but since the Flyers are 8 pts back of the Wings with 2 games in hand and play the Wings 3 more time, might as well cheer for a Philly loss. But if we reach a point where we seriously need to worry about the Flyers, the Wings would be in big trouble.
  21. I am not into sports betting, but if I were I’d bet a parlay on results opposite to the Wings want and would probably do well. 5 games last night, all went against the Wings’ rooting interest. See bold above.
  22. Yeah somehow it feels worse than 4-4-2 for 10 pts in 10 games since the Olympics break, doesn’t it. I think it’s the blown 2-0 lead to Vegas at home and the goose egg in Florida after leading until 90 seconds it that have really put a damper on things. Those are two or three blown points, I guess one could argue that taking Dallas to OT after trailing 2-0 on the road in the 3rd period is a salvaged point. 11 or 12 points in 10 games would have felt better and would have been perfectly respectable given that 7 of the 10 were on the road. Need to take advantage of these upcoming home games.
