  1. It’s like Jeopardy. It’s all about hitting the buzzer quickest.
  2. Damn, cuts to a commercial with the biggest cliffhanger ever.
  3. Bears are going to scrape out another one?
  4. Bertuzzi makes it 3-1. A blah weekend of Red Wings hockey so far.
  5. Wings are trailing 2-1 late in the 2nd so need to take advantage of this 4-minute powerplay.
  6. Connor Bedard putting up numbers this season. His 9th gives the Hawks an early 1–0 lead over the Wings.
  7. Rangers are 0-5-1 at MSG, 7-1-1 on the road.
  8. Two quick goals within a minute and the Rangers have busted it open
  9. Wings back home, down 2-1 to the Rangers late 2nd. A lot of alumni floating around, as there has been a fan fest these few days for the Wings’ 100th.
  10. Speaking of disposable numbers, but for indispensable players, here at the 5:00 mark is Trammell wearing #69 in spring training in 1977. Whitaker is spotted at 2:30, but I can't make out his number. Parrish is already in his #13 at 6:37. Bittersweet seeing so much of Fidrych in that, as it would have been just weeks or even days before his injury.
  11. Here's Logan beating out an infield hit at 27:24. Rod Allen laughs and says "when you've got that kind of speed, you're going to be rewarded" and adds "I would expect Logan to try to steal here". "If he can master the art of hitting the ball down the ground ... and utilizing his speed, he's going to have a bright future". At 29:10 Logan goes from 1st to 3rd on a single by Polanco to left. Logan scores on a bases loaded sac fly by Craig Monroe at 33:10. At 1:50:45 Logan hits his first of two career home runs, which would be his only one as a Tiger.
  12. At the 37:55 mark of this clip, Nook Logan is in as a pinch runner for Rondell White. Logan is then called by the color guy "probably the fastest man on the team, for both teams". Logan goes from 1st to 3rd on a single at 39:15. Logan scores at the 42:05 when Brandon Inge beats out a potential double play ball.
  13. At 1:03:05 of this clip ESPN's broadcast announces the news that Sanchez tested positive for PEDs.
  14. Here's Sanchez bunting for a leadoff, first pitch base hit at the 10min 10s mark. He steals 2nd at the 11min 40s mark. Then at the 1:13:40 mark he bunts in a run home from 3rd base!
  15. As a Canadian, it will be interesting to see who is our Olympic goalie. Binnington will probably start the opening game, but surely Logan Thompson will at least make the roster this year. If not, he must have done something we don't know about to tick off Team Canada brass.
  16. Love the candid insight from Rojas as to what was going through his mind as the 9th inning play at the plate unfolded.
  17. He played the 1936 season for the Tigers after being bought from the White Sox for $75,000. “Simmons showed he was still a force to be reckoned with, batting .327 with 13 home runs, 38 doubles, 96 runs scored, and 112 RBIs”. https://www.vintagedetroit.com/when-tigers-got-al-simmons-another-world-series-title-seemed-likely/?srsltid=AfmBOoq6XV6ItgWK8eK5LD4sUkL_v3bhMu23N1szWjr03S1rxKg8_Q7F
  18. I think the only comparable in Detroit sports is the 1988 Pistons one win away from their first NBA championship and being up 3 with 1:00 to go, up 1 with the ball with 30 seconds to go, and up 1 with Kareem about to shoot with 15 seconds to to. But that was on the road and overcoming a point or two in basketball is easier than a run in baseball. Then there the 2008 Wings who were 34 seconds away from a Cup, but they had won one just 6 years earlier and they finished the job on their second chance in ‘08 a couple of nights later.
  19. Wings had a chance in the final 20 seconds but fall 1-0.
  20. Looks like Eichel put the game away with a goal for 2-0 but it just got waived off for offside. Surprising stat: this was the Wings’ 17th consecutive successful offside challenge. 4:57 to go.
  21. Wings finally got a full powerplay midway through the 3rd but apart from a chance by Finnie didn’t do much.
  22. Wings down 1-0 after 2 periods in Vegas. I haven’t watched a second so have nothing to say, but will watch the 3rd.
