By the way, am currently reading this book. Focused on Ford incompetence, not surprisingly, which isnt something we don’t already know, lol. About 1/3 of the way through, am up to 1968. Apparently coach Joe Schmidt and others wanted to draft Kenny Stabler but were overruled by Russ Thomas who chose Landry https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/205885610-the-lions-finally-roar

ASU ties it with 16 points in 1:31. I would enjoy this more if I knew Ohio State was going to lose to Oregon. Because if ASU steals this, a pretty easy path to the final opens up for the Rose Bowl winner.

Ok, it MAY not be as bad as the Detroit Times' re-tweet. I saw they sourced it from Ian Rapoport, but there was nothing on Ian's X feed about it. So I see that it comes from a radio interview he did this morning. Seems to me he just assumes it, rather than getting a news alert from Campbell about it. https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/news/aidan-hutchinson-making-strides-pool-workout “You saw David Montgomery in those highlights making a bunch of plays, really has been one of the best backs in the NFL through the course of the year. Of course, not gonna play in this game," said Rapoport. "Still rehabbing that knee injury, but not going to play in this game. (He’s) one of a slew of Lions players who played in that (Week 7) game and are not going to play in this one. Aidan Hutchinson is not gonna play in both games, so he is not on the list. Alex Anzalone, the play-making linebacker with a broken forearm, he played in that (Week 7) game, not gonna play in this one. Malcolm Rodriguez, "Rodrigo", the tackling machine of a linebacker. He has a torn ACL, he is out. Carlton Davis with a fractured jaw, another one who is out for this game, potentially has a chance to come back for the playoffs. And then Alim McNeill, their star defensive lineman, he is out with a torn ACL. So, he is for sure out for the season. That’s the Lions, and it’s a lot of them. A lot of them who played in this game and are not gonna play in the game on Sunday night.”

What the hell has happened to the Rangers?! Somehow even the lowly Wings have more points than them.
-
Larkin's first goal in 15 games is into an empty net. Todd McLellan gets his 600th career win, his 2nd with the Wings.
-
Looks like Veleno on the top line like McLellan had hinted he would be.

Petersson is only 26. He scored 102 points in the 2022-23 season and 89 points in the 2023-24 season. Even this season for all his struggles he has put up 10-18-28 in 34 games. I think he just needs a change in scenery. Having said that, I do agree with you about the big contract and I too would rather snag a free agent like Marner for big $ without having to give up assets.

How about Edvinsson, Kaspar and next year’s (protected) 1st? Or would the Canucks accept Kaspar, Danielson and next year’s protected 1st? I’d do the latter for sure but doubt the Canucks would.

Petersson and JT Miller don’t get along. I thought that was just rumor, but team management recently confirmed it and basically said the two of them both need to grow up and get their act together. Fans have been on Petersson since the spring as they feel he has really tailed off after signing his 8 x $11.6mm contract. My daughter is dating a fine young man who is a Canucks fan and who like many fans his age (21 y.o) is big into analytics, prospects, drafts, trade proposals, etc. way more than I am. When he was over on Christmas he said any trade for Petersson would start with Seider and add from there. Well yeah, if we are just talking about player quality, but not if we think Petersson’s contract is bad. He’s coming over tonight for New Year’s Eve and wanted to make sure the Canada-U.S. world junior game will be on.

8-5 season but with wins over USC, Michigan State, Ohio State and Alabama. -
I don’t care what anyone says, I’ve always liked Pierre McGuire. His enthusiasm, his awkwardness, his call-outs to a player’s junior team even after he has been in the NHL for ages.
