  1. Jim Price is sounding especially weak this year too. I think it is time for him to go. He is 80 years old, give him a nice send off.
  2. And here's a great example of the Dodgers broadcasters telling a neat Miggy story. The Tigers announcers in the next booth were probably goofing off at the time.
  3. If Yzerman wanted Bruce Boudreau, he could probably get him. http://vancouversun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/coach-bruce-boudreau-did-terrific-job-but-wont-get-summer-contract-extension/wcm/a7e4c2c3-7252-4405-8be8-5df394eabaed
  4. Big game for Oilers tonight. Heat will be on Kenny if they lose this series to the Kings.
  5. Unearned runs, well-earned win.
  6. I believe in this team! As in, I believe the Tigers can better their 9-24 start of last year. Only need to go 3-9 over the next 12 games. No sure thing, but quite possible! You can do it, Detroit Tigers.
  7. You could ask around on this site. There is some great stuff on there, and many people with private collection. I have shoebox full of cassettes from the 1984 and 1985 seasons. Sometimes full games, but more often Paul Carey's post-game with highlights. Or JP McCarthy's highlights the next morning when he'd often interview Sparky Anderson. Or Eli Zaret giving morning recaps on WRIF, with JJ & the Morning Crew chiming in. One of these days I'll get around to organizing it and making it available somehow. I have something for just about every one of the 162 games in 1984, even if just a few minutes of highlights. As for Opening Day 1985, I didn't attend but remember how festive it was. People fully expected the Tigers to repeat in 1985 and they did get off to a good start. I have a couple of hours of pre-game coverage (radio) but again, I need to get around to digitalizing it.
  8. Anyone for the right price. But I would want players back for Larkin, not picks. We'll end up in an endless cycle of always being near the bottom. We've already missed the playoffs 6 straight seasons. NHL record is 11 seasons.
  9. I want an experienced NHL coach. Iyer's list could give us another Blashill.
  10. Even 20 as a fair target would be more than acceptable to me.
  11. Bolts storm back to win 6-4. So Eastern matchups will be Panthers-Caps, Canes-Bruins, Leafs-Lightning and Rangers-Penguins. in the West, Minnesota-St Louis and Edmonton-LA. Division winners Colorado and Calgary will play Nashville and Dallas; matchups to be determined by tonight’s results.
  12. Ha, Montreal is finally ready to start the season. Beating Florida 10-2!
  13. Buffalo Sabres' announcer Rick Jeanneret, he of "Mayday, Mayday" fame, called his last game tonight. Which ended, fittingly, with a Sabres' OT winner. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/33648862/sabres-raise-banner-honoring-long-broadcaster-jeanneret
  14. Ha, they were doing EVERYTHING to feed Bertuzzi. Hits the post. Then finally puts it in.
  15. Who the hell is Hellberg?
  16. Broadcast just chatting about Dan Cleary and showed his game 7 winner against the Ducks in 2009. One of my favorite goals ever. That was such an intense game.
  17. Would like Bertuzzi to get his 30th. Four minutes left to do so.
  18. I think that the puck is over the line and the Wings will be re-taking the lead by time game gets back from commercial.
  19. Keeping an eye on out of town scoreboard. Don't want the Leafs to avoid Tampa. But if current scores hold, it will be Bruins-Leafs in the 1st round. Would have to think if that happens this is the year the Leafs finally have the Bruins' number, especially with home ice advantage.
  20. Wings take the lead on a Veleno goal.
  21. Would winning Shane Wright rule us out of Connor Bedard next year? I salivate over the prospect of getting Bedard. He's from North Vancouver so have been hearing about him since his adolescence.
  22. My head agreed but my heart would feel 5th place shows some progress
  23. 1G 1A for Rasmussen as he roars towards the finish line. 2-2 after 2.
  24. Red Wings season point totals in the 6 straight years they've missed the playoffs. For the two Covid-shortened seasons are pro-rated it to 82 games: 2016-17 79 2017-18 73 2018-19 74 2019-20 45 (actual: 39pts in 71 games) 2020-21 70 (actual 48pts in 56 games) 2021-22 72 (with one game left to play to possibly add to that) In mid-February, I had thought 82 pts in 82 games was a reasonable target to aim for. They were on pace for around 80 points at that time, have fallen off the cliff since then.
  25. I'm not sure who would have been Messier. The Wings did have some Semenkos on the roster at that time though.
