  1. They could have the statue dangle from a sturdy but near-invisible string that would clothesline unsuspecting drunk fans on Friday nights.
  2. Depressing out Vrana. The news today took me totally by surprise so I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention to his injury last night. Better lineup for a home game tonight.
  3. I really like Aftemath. I’m not a diehard Stones fan, so when listening to it start to end there were still songs that surprised me. Whereas with the early 70s albums, which are great, it is hard for a casual fan like me to not have already heard virtually all of the tracks.
  4. I'd say Mantha was a good player. So were Nyquist and Tatar. They're better than average 1st round picks. although were picked later than the 1st. I think Bertuzzi and Hronek play like mid-late 1st round picks, so those are wins somewhat.
  5. While younger than Price (80 next month), I'm not sure how many more years Mickey Redmond (73) will stick around either. Jim Hughson, the top Hockey Night in Canada PBP, just retired at 64 earlier this month. Paul Carey retired at 63.
  6. I think each of the four names - Zadina, Berggren, Veleno, McIsaac - are pretty much playing to their draft spot. Fine. But I won't lie, the day after the draft I thought it could be transformational, with Zadina a top 3 pick, Berggren and Veleno mid-firsts and McIsaac a late 1st. May have been as much a case of me drinking the Kool-Aid rather than being too down on them now
  7. It would certainly make sense. Seems like it is time. Has there been an announcement?
  8. They listened to you. Fighting in more ways than one!
  9. First couple of rows of the upper deck on the 1st base side between the batters box and the bag were heaven. Sat there a few times on weeknights. I really liked the upper deck in right too. Lower deck in left is where we usually sat, especially on cheap group tickets Saturday afternoons or Monday nights, and while the view wasnt all ideal it was so exciting to feel the upper deck crowd thumping above you on a bases clearing double for example. The one thing I really like about Comerica and all modern parks are the wider concourses and being able to walk around the place and stand anyplace. Felt more boxed into my section at Tiger Stadium.
  10. The 5,000 best seats were best in the majors. Best 25,000 seats were well above average. With a 51,000 seat capacity there was a big drop off in quality after the first 40,000.
  11. I don't know if this stat is kept, but it seems like an inordinate number of runs given up my Manning in his outings is bunched into one inning.
  12. Magic number to avoid the AL Central basement is 1.
  13. I remember the day after the 2018 draft thinking it could help set the Wings up for years. Zadina, Veleno, Berggren, McIsaac.
  14. So the Seattle Kraken played their first exhibition game last night, against the Canucks, and guess who scored their goal Riley Sheehan, lol. Later, Dennis Cholowski got an assist.
  15. 6-2 needed to hit .500. Now if we can catch the Guardians and the Jays miss the playoffs, it will be a very satisfying season.
  16. Yes, I bet few teams have got such little production so far out of their 1st round draft picks of past five years.
  17. Yes, she put her misplaced trust in you for calling it a 161 game season. She has to hang up her broom and skirt for a few more days.
  18. I see, thanks! in other news …
  19. Imagine if you had told San Diego Padres fans at the beginning of the season that the Tigers would be only 3 games behind them with a week and a half to go in the season.
  20. This is Frederick Arthur Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby, Lord Stanley of Preston. It's funny, there were a couple of new posts to the Wings forum a week ago before the crash and I kept clicking to read them but never could. Kept doing that for a few days, like Charlie Brown with Lucy. Yeah, the McIsaac hit was brutal. He was out cold. Guy who did it seemed quite shaken afterwards. One of the questions I asked before the crash is whether Veleno's stock has dropped so much. IIRC, that one prospects list I saw had him barely in the top 100, behind 5 or so other WIngs.
  21. Since the Tigers won Monday and Tuesday and today is rained out ...
