  1. Ravens lose Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers to a knee injury today. Hard to argue with him being in the game though, even against the lowly Browns, as the Ravens hadn't yet clinched the division and he went down in the 2nd quarter.
  2. Your morning smile. I have watched this several times. I wonder how many, if any, flags were thrown on the plays in this clip?
  3. https://champsorchumps.us/records/best-nfl-regular-season-records#tab-most-wins The winner of Sunday's Lions-Vikings game will become the 9th team to win at least 15 games in an NFL regular season. Of course 7 of the other 8 had to do it with just 16 games. 14 win seasons are less rare but still special. I count 20 current franchises (and the extinct Frankford Yellow Jackets who are linked to but separate from the Philadelphia Eagles) with at least one 14-win season, which would mean 12 current NFL franchises have never had a team win 14 or more games in a regular season. The 14+ winners, which has been done 36 times, are New England (5x), San Francisco (4), Kansas City (3), Chicago (2), Minnesota (2), Pittsburgh (2), Miami (2), Indianapolis (2), Washington (2) and the following with one each: Carolina, Green Bay, Frankford, Atlanta, Baltimore, Denver, Detroit, Jacksonville, New York Giants, San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams and Philadelphia. I spot a couple of times where a 14-2 team was not the conference's #1 seed (Atlanta 1998, New England 2004) but both at least won their division and both ended up getting to the Super Bowl.
  4. Out: Tork bomb. In: Spencer Over The Fencer
  5. At the risk of getting the Jim Mora meme resurrected, I would like to point out that the Wings are now just 4 points behind the final playoff spot. A bunch of mediocre teams chasing 8th place.
  6. It was a tumultuous tournament for Canada. Not sure they had one good game. Media and fans need to lighten up, way too critical of teens, these aren’t multimillionaire 20-something NHLers.
  7. Berggren wins it on a breakaway after coming out of the penalty box! 5-4 final.
  8. Wings take the risk of challenging, lose the challenge, and so now they have to kill a penalty late in regulation to preserve a point.
  9. Ouch, Jackets tie it with 2:41 to go
  10. This must mean Khalif will be in on Sunday for the kick returns.
  11. Red Wings kick off a month of 7 road games and 7 home games with a game in Columbus tonight. 8 games are against opponents currently in playoff position, 6 games are against opponents currently outside a playoff spot. The Wings went 5-7-2 in December for 12 points in 14 games.
  12. But will Petersson, a 26 year old grown man, need to be treated with kids gloves? That’s not good.
  13. My rooting interest with the least imposing path possible, NOT a prediction: Week 18 Lions over Vikings Cowboys over Commanders (so they drop to #7 seed) Packers over Bears Wildcard Round Commanders over Eagles (so they knock out a major contender) Rams over Packers (indifferent on outcome) Buccaneers over Vikings (so they knock out another major contender) Divisional Round Lions over Commanders Buccaneers over Rams NFC Championship Lions over Buccaneers Super Bowl Lions over Chargers In conclusion, I'm saying that IF the Lions can get homefield advantage AND a week off AND avoid playoff games against the Eagles or Vikings AND the AFC champ is not Buffalo or KC or Baltimore, then the Lions can win the Super Bowl.
  14. This drama continues to be the talk of the town here in Vancouver.
  15. I think Ryan Day might get to keep his job. 24-0!
  16. I’m supposed to do a polar bear plunge into the ocean at the bottom of the hour. It’s about 6 blocks away but I’m still on my couch. Am I really interested in this Texas-ASU or is it just an excuse, ha.
  17. By the way, am currently reading this book. Focused on Ford incompetence, not surprisingly, which isnt something we don’t already know, lol. About 1/3 of the way through, am up to 1968. Apparently coach Joe Schmidt and others wanted to draft Kenny Stabler but were overruled by Russ Thomas who chose Landry https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/205885610-the-lions-finally-roar
  18. ASU ties it with 16 points in 1:31. I would enjoy this more if I knew Ohio State was going to lose to Oregon. Because if ASU steals this, a pretty easy path to the final opens up for the Rose Bowl winner.
  19. "He will play, you know he will play. He will play on crutches. He will play".
  20. Ok, it MAY not be as bad as the Detroit Times' re-tweet. I saw they sourced it from Ian Rapoport, but there was nothing on Ian's X feed about it. So I see that it comes from a radio interview he did this morning. Seems to me he just assumes it, rather than getting a news alert from Campbell about it. https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/news/aidan-hutchinson-making-strides-pool-workout “You saw David Montgomery in those highlights making a bunch of plays, really has been one of the best backs in the NFL through the course of the year. Of course, not gonna play in this game," said Rapoport. "Still rehabbing that knee injury, but not going to play in this game. (He’s) one of a slew of Lions players who played in that (Week 7) game and are not going to play in this one. Aidan Hutchinson is not gonna play in both games, so he is not on the list. Alex Anzalone, the play-making linebacker with a broken forearm, he played in that (Week 7) game, not gonna play in this one. Malcolm Rodriguez, "Rodrigo", the tackling machine of a linebacker. He has a torn ACL, he is out. Carlton Davis with a fractured jaw, another one who is out for this game, potentially has a chance to come back for the playoffs. And then Alim McNeill, their star defensive lineman, he is out with a torn ACL. So, he is for sure out for the season. That’s the Lions, and it’s a lot of them. A lot of them who played in this game and are not gonna play in the game on Sunday night.”
