  1. This ain't no place for a nervous person.
  2. He's the most positive story of the season for sure.
  3. No way will the Habs lose at home to Chicago. But it goes to show how many chances the Wings have had to stay in the race or control their fate. Even after March's disaster and Tuesday's loss to Montreal, STILL if they had won in Florida last night they'd be somewhat realistically alive.
  4. Kasper keeps the Wings alive! 4-3 OT win.
  5. Wings tied 3-3 with Tampa late. Seider just hit two crossbars. Habs could lose in regulation, so if the Wings win they might live another day.
  6. Larkin's fine, but he'll be 29 by training camp and not really getting any better. Apart from the two Covid-shortened seasons, this season likely will be his lowest point total since 63 points in 2018. At 66 pts in 78 games, he is currently T-25 among centres. Points aren't everything of course, and I admit to not being an analytics junkie, so maybe someone else could show if his points understate his total performance. Linemates matter too, and I can think of half a dozen there linemate combos off the top of my head that would likely rack up more points for him. Plus the 4Nations showed what he can do in elite circumstances. So he's a legit #1C, but probably middle of the pack or lower-middle? NHL.com ranked him #15 centre in the pre-season and that sounded about right, but don't see who above him I'd bump in his favour. https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-current-players-ranked-top-20-centers
  7. More Demidov mania upon arrival at Pearson Airport in Toronto. His girlfriend must think they're nuts, lol. Ok, at least one of us has to do this for Buchelnikov. https://www.tvasports.ca/2025/04/10/des-partisans-du-ch-a-toronto-pour-accueillir-ivan-demidov
  8. Perfect combo - good app for people at home, no rights fees so control over the telecasts, no phones for spectators so they're in the moment (and that looks better on tv too).
  9. 5th time leading after the 1st round for Justin Rose. I like it if and when guys like him are finally able to break through. He does have one major and some Ryder Cup success, but a Masters would be well-deserved by now.
  10. So I guess Copp is out for the year by now?
  11. As are the Western Michigan Broncos. Wow.
  12. It is not yet mathematically impossible for the Wings to finish last in the Eastern Conference, although that chance looks to be about to be snuffed out with the Bruins losing to Chicago.
  13. Wings tragic number is 3 pts. So they can’t be mathematically eliminated even if they lose in regulation tonight. Tomorrow is quite possible, when the Wings are at Tampa and the Habs are in Ottawa.
  14. Ha, Montreal is a hockey marker like no other. Demidov, 19, was drafted 5th overall last June, scored 49 pts in 65 games in the KHL, and earlier this week signed his entry level contract with the Habs and is evaded to the NHL. https://www.ctvnews.ca/montreal/article/jerseys-sold-out-flight-being-tracked-habs-fans-reaching-peak-ivan-demidov-craze-levels/ It’s on. If you’re a Habs fan and looking to show up to rookie Ivan Demidov’s first game wearing his no. 93, you’ll have to wait. The Montreal Canadiens’ official Tricolore Sports store is sold out in all sizes of the jersey after the team announced on Wednesday that Demidov would be the 30th player in NHL history to wear the number, according to Hockey Reference. If you’re planning on hitting up Monday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks, be ready to pay. The lowest priced tickets on Ticketmaster are going for $271.33 in the highest possible seats at the Bell Centre in section 422, row D. For seats in the lower bowl, prepare to pay close to or over $1,000. “It’s a beautiful thing,” said Habs fan Matt Busato-Viviani. “Playoff fever; nothing else like it.” Various fans and beat reporters are on Demidov watch, suggesting the 19-year-old’s flight from Istanbul is headed for Toronto on Thursday, where he’ll join the rest of the Habs before their Saturday night game against the Leafs. “[It] takes a special type of weirdo to track Ivan Demidov’s flight to Canada and you think they’d be rare, but nope! They’re out there,” wrote one Ottawa Senators fan on X.
  15. I don't think the Leafs have any interest in trading Knies and I doubt Yzerman would go the hostile route.
  16. Tying run in scoring position. Holy. Let’s match the Vancouver Canucks winning after being down 5-2 with a little over minute to go in regulation last night. .
  17. 2 runs, only 1 of them earned, for the Yankees in 24 innings against Tigers pitching.
  18. Same goes with Cossa, if 23-year old Jakob Dobes can do what he's doing in Montreal. Drafted by the Habs in the 5th round in 2020, Dobes started 14 games for Montreal this season with a 2.87 GAA and a .904 Save %. Fans are hoping he will push Montembault for the #1 spot next season.
  19. Speaking of 3B, remember Marty Castillo, the utility infielder on the '84 Tigers who caught the final popup in the AL pennant-winning game against KC? I recall when he didn't attend the '99 Tiger Stadium closing some vague reason was given like "whereabouts unknown". Did some Internet searching and pulled up an article from 2012 that provides some information. https://www.vintagedetroit.com/former-84-tiger-castillo-faces-more-charges-jail-time/ In 1999 he was convicted of assault and battery against his wife and spent time in jail. Late in 2011 another domestic incident allegedly occurred and he currently faces similar charges. A criminal trial is pending in Florida and Castillo faces prison time if convicted. A couple of the comments on the article: October 29, 2012 at 4:52 pm The guy is completely MIA…totally checked out of life. He disappeared because he supposedly owed alimony, child support and also had the IRS on his tail for back taxes. And those were just the things that were reported in the media. There have been media reports that he has been seen in remote pacific islands over the years but soon went back underground. His teammates from 84 haven’t heard from him in years. If he ever did show up at a card show I assume the cuffs would be slapped on him immediately. Translation: he will always be the one guy on the 84 team who isn’t dead that you’ll never get. Annie S. July 19, 2021 at 4:10 pm Check all the court records in Anaheim California, and then check all of the court records from here to Florida all the way in the Michigan I feel sorry for everyone I hope Justice is served
  20. The Dodgers are now 9-4 and tied for 2nd in their division. The Tigers must have worn them down, just like so many teams were losing the week after playing the Lions.
  21. I don't see this as tarnishing Yzerman's legacy. I compartmentalize his playing career and GM career. I barely remember the blips of Trammell managing the Tigers or Gretzky coaching the Coyotes.
  22. IMO, only Red Wings that aren't either dime-a-dozen or over-the-hill are Raymond, Larkin, DeBrincat, Kane, Kasper, Seider and Edvinsson. I'll be generous and add Johansson. The rest are just filler. I think if you placed every other player on the Wings' NHL roster on waivers virtually all would go unclaimed.
