2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason
Motor City Sonics replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
Okay. Do any of you feel that Bregman is dragging this out just to keep his name in the news? The fact that he hasn't decided yet doesn't seem genuine to me. Does he really need that much for his ego? Is it that fragile? And when I hear Baez' health is good, I was thinking Joan Baez. Regarding Javy? I don't know. He is so far removed from his peak that I just have no faith that he's going to turn anything around. Nate Colbert 2.0 -

Well.......... maybe getting away from all of it is actually good for him. Maybe it was just too much and he needed down time from it all. Most of us felt that last year's problems were more mental than anything and maybe that's true. I guess we'll see, right? But I have a feeling that his next MLB game will not be in a Tigers uniform. -
He plays a lot of blues-oriented stuff and they are trying to reach more people. We are a Triple A station and our station plays Zach Bryan but I don't think our country station plays him. Zach fights the Country Music Machine so they don't play him as much as they should and he is proving he doesn't need them. His new single sounds more like Lumineers than a country song.

If they hadn't signed Flaherty and Cobb was it for the staff, we'd be all over Mr. Harris right now - because there were plenty of signs with Cobb. The money he and Kenta will be soaking up like a sponge. -

Well, it depends, does Alex Bregman even like playing baseball? Because this tool does not. He clearly stated that he doesn't care about baseball. I don't think he's hurt much at all. He just wants his money for nothin' Worst contract in sports history. -
Wait, You mean Anthony Rendon is going to be out for the season? Hip surgery this time? Worst contract in sports history.
-
Wait, they play Chicago on the road on back to back nights? It's mid February and they don't play Indiana again? WHO THE **** IS MAKING THE NBA SCHEDULE?
-
It was 71-29 at the half? Are the Pistons just physically wearing teams down? I could understand it since nobody plays physical anymore The just clowned the 76ers and the Bulls. They are beating up on the bad teams. Gotta start beating the better ones. Need to beat Indiana.

Tonight's the night ! For Jemaine and his wife to make love You know how I know? Because it's Wednesday. And Wednesday is the night they usually make love. Monday night is his night to cook Tuesday they visit her mother But Wednesday is the night for sweet, weekly love It's when everything is just right There's nothing good on TV She's not too tired from her after-work social sports team practice It's all on ! -

Other contract details - 25% of two Illitch-owned parking garages - Will receive a chartered flight for all road trips, separate from teammates and all airport traffic will hold until he clears the runway. - Must be addressed as "Mr. Bregman" by all Tiger teammates - Final approval of all lineups and managerial decisions - All retired Tiger numbers will be un-retired and only his number can be retired through the year 2125 - 4 bronze statues of himself around the stadium - Will be awarded the top 2 floors of the most expensive hotel in Detroit. - Little Caesars' Crazy Bread to be re-named "Bregman Bread" - Woodward Ave to be re-named "Bregman Blvd." - His likeness to be mowed into the outfield grass. Any Tiger player that spits on his likeness will be sent to the minors - Must always be the highest-paid third baseman in MLB, by at least $1 million dollars per year - Will have chef-prepared meals prepared in front his locker and only he can eat that food, fed to him by rookies. Other Tigers who attempt to smell the food will be sent to the minors - Will only play when he feels like it. I guess the hold up all this time was the parking garages. The Illitches will tear down other buildings and make more. -

6/162 (27 million per year). Don't know how he's gonna get by on that. Eggs are $8 a dozen. -

I think it comes down to Meadows and Keith. If Meadows could give us a full season of how he played after August last year, then he's an All-Star. He made a huge difference and they don't get to the postseason without him. -

I don't know, if we did offer something better than Houston and he's been stringing us along, then screw that guy. No matter what, he's not going to be worth the 6 year deal by the end of it. He doesn't want to come here. I understand a guy that wants to hit home runs wouldn't want our ball park and he still thinks Detroit is what it was in the Beverly Hills Cop movie. He probably thinks it's like Robocop. Like Houston is some charming oasis with no crime. Bet we smell better than Houston. -

Okay, 6/162. That's 27 a year. Can they structure like this, so we pay more when we still have a lower payroll? 2025 33 mil 2026 32 mil player opt-out 2027 28 mil player opt-out 2028 25 mil 2029 23 mil 2030 22 mil That way he gets to equal his buddy Carlos for a year (for his ego) and by the time we want to re-sign some of our own guys, it won't be as painful for us and he still gets his money. I still think he's going to Boston on a short deal, with the belief he's gonna hit 30 HR at Fenway. -

The 2022 Chicago White Sox are a warning. Coming off their division winning 2021 season they had a young core that was still developing and there was a very bright future. Then it all collapsed. Granted, we don't have a 76 year old manager who does not connect with younger players and did not really embrace Sabermetrics, and often did not put his players in the best position possible. But keep that in mind. A few missteps, a couple of injuries and all this promise built up last year can evaporate very quickly. Do I expect that to happen? No. But, I don't believe momentum carries over offseasons. Just can't be under way .500 again on the first day of Summer, like they have for every season since 2017. They got away with it once, they probably don't again. Last year's turnaround was a once in a generation thing and that included the Twins once in a generation collapse. -

He could continue being a Tiger-killer, only now AS a Tiger. What scares me is if the Angels decide to finally just get rid of Anthony Rendon, that the Tigers will try to scoop him up cheap. Don't want that guy. Can he even play third anymore anyway? Don't want a guy who doesn't like or want to play baseball. It would be the wrong tone to set for all these young players. I don't even think Rendon was all that injured the last few years, he just doesn't want to play anymore. He'll keep collecting the money, however. -

Don't look now, but Jalen Duren is starting to turn into a very good player - and he's only 21.
-
We added his record "What's Left Of Me" a few weeks ago. Solid radio song. Reminds me of Jackson Browne.

That is what I heard about it. Its more of a documentary for those under 35 that weren't around when LZ was still active.
