  1. Yep, same with "giving up outs" by bunting in baseball. Not too long ago there were situations where every coach would bunt or risk getting chastised for not doing so, now it almost flipped where coaches are questioned any time they do bunt.
  2. I think Arnold is gonna be a special one. Between his natural ability, mentality and maybe most importantly coming into the league and receiving top notch coaching from day 1 to compliment his other gifts.
  3. Idk about SF, I know it was just the Bears but they looked like the 49ers of old in that game. The Bears for all their faults usually play close games but SF trucked them. I think they are getting healthier and if they have something to play for I think that game is gonna be tough.
  4. No doubt Kenta Maeda is going to show up to Spring Training in the "best shape of his life".
  5. Nothing about Cobb's savant page jumps out and excites me but I'll trust Harris and the scouting department since they hit on Lorenzen and Flaherty the past 2 seasons.
  6. I don't get the GB love fest compared to Minnesota. I think if you're gonna put GB on the SB tier then the Vikings should be there as well.
  7. Soto turned down a 15/440 extension from the Nats in 2022, he ended up getting 800 million guaranteed by waiting to FA.(If you include the money from 23/24)
  8. McManus has made one from 61 and has one of the strongest legs in the league so if they get the ball on the 30 the Pack probably only need 25 yards for an attempt. Given our banged up defense who lets not forget Branch left the previous series injured and Joseph was on the bench hitting the oxygen tank isn't that hard to do. If Campbell were to do this when either A. our defense was at near full strength or B. had shown they were consistently capable of stopping the opposition I would have been against it but that wasn't the case. The Packers had already scored 24 pts in the 2nd half on this defense so its not like they were playing great.
  9. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you don't convert and GB gets the ball, with the game being tied they likely aren't going to be as aggressive. Like if you were to sack them on 1st down there's a good chance they just run out the clock and go to OT vs. risking a disaster turnover. Now if they are down by 3 and KNOW it is 4 down territory that isn't an option.
  10. It's not quite that simple. There is also the option that Bates misses the initial FG meaning a Packers FG wins. Also the chance that the Packers drive the entire length of the field for the game winning TD. By converting it on 4th down not only do you obviously guarantee GB can't come back to beat you with a TD you also insure that if Bates does miss you are atleast guaranteed OT.
  11. The Pistons would obviously get trucked by the Celtics or Cavs but if they could somehow get the 6 seed I think they could make a series out of whomever they get there.
  12. Finally got around to watching some of the National pundits views about the game and most notably Campbell's decision and I got a kick out of what most of the naysayers had to say about it. To sum it up they essentially said if he didn't convert then the Packers would've just went down the field and won the game with a FG. That may or may not have happened but what I find funny is that if they genuinely believe that then you have to be willing to concede that if the Lions kicked the FG then the Packers would've went right down and tied the game with a FG since they would've gotten the ball at basically the same spot with the same amount of time. So if you believe that would you rather take your chances in OT with an exhausted defense with 2nd and 3rd stringers or gain a half yard running behind the best run blocking RG and RT in the league? I'd side with Campbell's decision. On a similar note I saw a couple people bring up how the analytics said to kick in that situation as a reason to go against Campbell's decision yet some of the same folks said "hell with the analytics" when the 4th down decisions agreed with Campbell in the Championship Game. BTW of the 5 offensive TDs the Lions have scored against GB this season 4 of them have been on 4th down. They easily could've lost both those games if Campbell "played by the book" and kicked FGs instead of being aggressive so the haters have to keep that in mind anytime those decisions backfire.
  13. I guess the league was considering flexing them out of this game a few weeks ago but the excuse given was that the game will have a simulcast on Disney centered around a Simpsons theme and all the drawings of the "characters"(assume that means players) and teams along with voiceovers were already done and they wouldn't be able to replicate that with new teams in time.
  14. I think the problem with Duren is that even if he does develop a bit you then are gonna have to pay him. Has the makings of another Drummond situation so if we could find away to get rid of him now and not have to worry about that I would be all for it.
  15. I think Western Ontario is for the Lions but Eastern is probably for the Bills. I also imagine Provinces like Manitoba and Saskatchewan are for the Vikings. I know the city of Winnipeg is for sure cause I have friends that live there and they say that the Vikings are the team of choice there.
  16. I watched this with my goldfish... he is now a great white shark.
  17. Pat O Connor deserved a game ball as well imo. Glad he gave one to Patrick though.
  18. One other thing to keep in mind is the possibility of a rare Bates miss. By going for it and converting you were atleast guaranteed OT even with a miss. If you kicked on 4th down and missed you'd hand the ball to GB at like the 35 yd line only needing a FG to win. Good chance at the very least they get in position for an attempt. Again though, I'm sure this had nothing to do with the decision but it is an extra thing to consider when breaking it down as a whole.
  19. I think you have to look at these decisions in the context of how the game had played out. Our defense was decimated and exhausted, they were on the field alot in the 2nd half and while doing the best they could they still gave up 24 points and showed no ability to stop GB from driving down the field. On top of that Branch left the previous series injured so he may not have been ready either. If you have a chance to end the game right there and not make your defense go back out there on their last legs you do it.imo GB's kicker has a monster leg, they would've only needed 25 yds to be in FG range, then if they make that you are dependent on a coin flip in ot. Bottom line the reward outweighed the risk to me which is why I was all for the call.
  20. I'd be upset but I also would be rational enough to understand it. Our defense had not looked good at all in the second half due to how beat up they were, I'd rather take my chances of gaining the yard and for all intents and purposes ending the game than ask the defense who was extremely short handed to begin with on top of having their two best remaining defenders literally hitting the oxygen tank on the sidelines be tasked with having to stop a team on a hurry up offense from gaining the necessary 30 yards to get in FG range.
  21. The best GB can finish is 13-4 and with the Lions holding the tie breaker that means our magic number over them is down to 1. Not that you ever want to lose a game but next week's game against Buffalo wouldn't be the worst game to lose now. If we have guys that are borderline ready to play in that game I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions erred on the side of caution and rested them. Even with a loss we'd still be in the driver's seat for the division and 1 seed.
  22. Love Campbell and I completely agree with the call. Too often teams kick the FG, only to see the opposing team go right down and tie it back up or even win it with a TD. Go for the kill and trust the strength of your team!
  23. Things ended up working out perfectly for the Lions, if the original TD held up GB would get the ball with a minute left and a TO, now they get it with 10 seconds and no timeouts.
  24. Didn't we trade up for Martin as well? Regardless though he has been a disappointment for a top 100 pick and could be a rare Holmes miss. Still time though to prove otherwise.
  25. Boston's had leads in the 4th in all 4 of their losses this year, they really aren't that far off from being undefeated.
