That Duren lob is only missing a helpless Brandon Knight trying to block it and it would look just like that famous DeAndre Jordan dunk. Maybe not quite the same elevation though.

First time Pistons won at the Spurs since the infamous SVG "FORM an F'n WALL" game.

Zack Martin of the Cowboys retired yesterday, only reason I bring this up is cause I read one of the most insane stats I ever seen in my life earlier about him. In his 11 seasons and 171 starts he was only called for 5 holding penalties total and not a single one in pass protection.

Yeah I can only imagine how big he was there given how popular he was all over the rest of the US at that time, particularly with kids my age. Being in middle school and High School during his peak Mariners days I can tell you that him and the Mariners were without a doubt the most popular team and player at my school. I think it was a combination of us being too young to really get into those great 80s Tigers team along with them being so bad in the years I'm talking about led to kids my age just not having a huge connection with them. Atleast from what I can remember with my friends and other kids from school the Mariners, Indians and Braves were the teams that everybody gravitated to with the Mariners being the favorite.

My favorite was in 1998 during the home run chase. I was a HUGE Ken Griffey Jr. fan at that time, like my fandom for him trumped even the Tigers at that point and for awhile there he was right there with McGwire and Sosa. I had internet but the CPU was in my parents room so wasn't really accessible to teenage me at all times so watching Baseball Tonight was really the only way I could keep up with how Jr. was doing that night. Baseball Tonight would always do their gingle and cut to a highlight of the HR whenever one was hit, so anytime that would hit I would get all excited hoping it was gonna be a Griffey home run. Such good memories.

I heard on the radio the cap number teams were informed of today is like 30 million higher than expected. Good thing Brad signed so many guys this past season, I'm sure contracts are going to go way up starting this year.

Pope Morosi was on the MLB Network talking about how Hao Yu Lee is really turning some heads in the Tigers organization and could be a real possibility at 3B for the Tigers this season. Sounds like he could be a guy to keep an eye on throughout spring training.

With the Melton inclusion for FG I believe that now makes 9 different Tigers on atleast one of the big outlets top 100. The 7 you have listed plus Jace Jung and Jaden Hamm. -

Longenhagen said in his chat that the reason Rainer and a couple others from this past draft didn't make it is cause they didn't play any pro ball this year. -
I was big into it in the 90s when it was on during the day on NBC, since it's been on prime time the only times I really watched was when MJ made his return in 01 or 02 and the year the Pistons had all their All Stars. Aside from that I don't think I've watched more than an hour total of the actual game in 25 years.

I'd probably lean towards Ausar, if for no other reason than he is younger and is a year further away from an extension.
-
Ugh Ausar missing 4 FTs here in crunch time.
-
Julio Franco was in the majors the same time as Jim Kaat who debuted in the 50s and Justin Verlander who is still playing in 2025.

Damn got real excited seeing the Got real excited seeing the Pistons in the upper right quadrant but then I realized that it was only for the last 10 games, still good to see though.

Bregman likely isn't going to be "worth" 40 million a year from a pure production to dollar standpoint but for a team like the Tigers where each marginal gain and win could be the difference between the division or sitting at home he very well may have been worth it from that standpoint. Basically Getting say 3 wins to go from 87 to 90 generally means alot more than going from 105 to 108 or 70 to 73 which is what I think Bregman could have potentially done for us. -
Last night teams collectively shot more than 1100 3 pointers, the most in any given day in NBA history. It averaged out to nearly 80 a game! Fans that hate the current product surely would've been in misery yesterday if they watched.
-
Ausar has now gone 9 straight games without attempting a 3 and 10 out of the last 11. Looks like he and coaches decided to not even bother with that anymore.
-
Yeah doesn't seem possible to go 16 seasons without doing that but here we are. Speaking of .500, the Pistons played December .500, were 3 games over .500 in January and are currently 3 games over in February with 5 to play. Tough final 5 games this month but have a shot at back to back winning months and 3 of atleast .500 or better.
-
As of now that is the difference between us being the 4th seed and getting HCA against possibly them and being the 6 seed and having to face the Knicks.

Just really looked at Michigan's schedule next year and it's about as easy as you can get in this day and age with the expanded Big 10. No Oregon, no Penn State, no Indiana(if you feel they will be legit next year), get teams like Wisconsin and Washington at home along of course with Ohio State. Even the marquee non conference game with Oklahoma doesn't look as tough as you would've expected a couple years, many early rankings don't even have them in the top 25 so that should be a winnable game even though it's on the road.

Yeah I'd much rather get somebody like Sweat than trade the house for Garrett or Crosby. I don't necessarily feel you need to have 2 elite DEs to cause havoc on the lines, sure if cost wasn't an issue you'd love to have it but I think a dependable player(s) on one side and an elite guy on the other can cause more than enough disruption. Also I'm of the belief that you are better served getting those bull rushers on the interior against today's QBs, cause unless you get there immediately QBs nowadays are mobile enough where they will just step up into the pocket and find a lane to take off or throw from. When you collapse the pocket from within that takes that option away. So if I were to invest in the Dline I'd rather get a premium pass rusher from the interior position.

Obligatory post about Englert being an All Star since the Rays traded for him. -

The Angels may be the only team that was hurt more than us with long term contracts. They got burned with Pujols, Josh Hamilton, CJ Wilson, Anthony Rendon and I believe even Trout started to go downhill after his extension. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting about as well. -

I still don't see us signing him but if we do and the 6 yr rumor is true I think an outcome to realistically hope for is for him to be like Kinsler was here. If we got 3-4 yrs of peak Tiger Kinsler production I could live with 2 albatross years at the end. -
