  1. I know a couple of the guys I'm going to list left via FA and I know a couple more were rentals which hurt their value but still it just baffles me that in a 4-5 year stretch we lost a prime Max Scherzer, David Price, Yoennis Cespedes, JD Martinez, Justin Verlander, Nick Castellanos among some others and got absolutely nothing in return to show for it. And yes I know this has been beaten to death but it's something that is just mind boggling to think about.
  2. Looking more in depth at the schedule and yeah I agree that its easy to find 7 or 8 wins there. As of now I see 5 home games that they may actually be favored in if the line was put out today and that's Washington, Seattle, Minny, Chicago and Jacksonville. You can't expect them to win all 5 but if they win 3 or 4 of those then steal another 1 at home from Philly, Miami, Buffalo on Tday or GB then you're looking at a 4-5 or 5-4 home record. Outside of Dallas and GB if they have something to play for none of the road games scare me that much, it's not hard to envision them winning a couple of those so yeah now that I think about it I think 7 should be the minimum target if they stay healthy. With some luck and/or Goff great play I don't think 9 or even 10 wins is out of the question if absolutely everything goes perfectly. Not that I think they are a true 10 win team, just that they play a lot of beatable teams and if everything goes right I think they could do it..
  3. It's possible, I think they'll have to go atleast 3-2 before the bye. I feel all those games are winnable, yeah Philly smoked them last year and is much improved but the first week is always a crazy so they could steal that one. Washington and Seattle at home you should win but if you do split there I think they can win at Minnesota and NE. Despite my love for Mac Jones I don't think NE is all that good.
  4. Nice to start at home for the first 2 and 3 of first 4. With the exception of Thanksgiving which starts at 12:30 all the games are at 1. I kinda figured no prime time games but surprised there isn't any 4pm games either, I suppose it's cause we don't play any road games in the west.
  5. I didn't realize it when watching it but somebody on my twitter feed made a great observation about why Gus reacted the way he did at the register. To me I just thought it was to show how his mind was completely elsewhere but in reality it was to show that after asking the guy if he wanted to try their new "Spicy Curls" is when he had his "a ha moment" about where Lalo is heading. The spicy curls was what he featured to the parent company in Germany a season or 2 back when him and all the other owners were talking about what they were thinking of adding to their respective menus.
  6. Realistically the best case scenario is we end up about where we did last year. While disappointed I would be OK with that if it came with guys like Tork, Greene, Mize, Manning, Skubal etc. looking good on the way there. Like I'd rather finish with 60 some wins and those guys play very well but we lose do to cast offs or bullpen failure than win mid to upper 70s but those guys look bad but we win thanks to our AAAA guys or dudes like Schoop and Grossman who aren't going to be here for the future.
  7. Yep, Meadows seems to have hit his fair share of long fly balls that would've been HRs under the old ball which makes me wonder if the Rays realized that a bunch of his HRs were aided by the rabbit ball and wouldn't translate to the new ball.
  8. It's frustrating as hell but short of making small moves like calling up Clemens I really don't know what we can do. Yeah we could fire Avila but that isn't going to fix the team right now. Aside from Skubal any of our potential trade assets we'd be selling low so we can't do that, really it seems all we can do is just ride it out and hope that the guys start hitting.
  9. Wentz down Jason Foley up according to Beck.
  10. We got to play at Lambeau early last year but it seems like that was the outlier, if feels like it's always at the end of the season and this coming year is no exception.
  11. I can't believe I'm saying this but Reyes hit a bomb today in his rehab assignment, maybe he can provide a spark when he comes back.
  12. It was only 85 degrees today, don't worry once it gets into the 100s the guys will start hitting.
  13. Barring a little 9th inning rally this will be the 7th time in our last 14 games we've scored 1 run or less, plus another 4 times we scored only 2 runs so in total 11 out of the last 14 we've could've had prime Koufax on the mound and chances are we would've lost or best case went to extra innings.
  14. I always got a kick out of how George Blaha would say Chicago, he'd pronounce like Chi-caw-go or sometimes even Chi-call-go.
  15. Also its not uncommon for even the best prospects to struggle out of the gate in the big leagues. Iirc Trout didnt exactly light the world on fire in his first stint in 2011.
  16. Nate maybe remembered more as a Viking but I think he sees himself as a Lion cause he would often openly cheer for them and say things like "my Lions".
  17. Gotta wonder if part of that is to just entertain the crowd that stuck around in the blowout or to lighten the mood for the team that just got blownout cause like others have said with all the pitchers teams carry nowadays youd think it they wouldn't need to do that except for the most extreme and rare exceptions.
  18. In a year where offense is way down Mike Trout hit 2 more HRs today to give him 9 on the year and raised his OPS to about 1.200. The greatest player of this generation just keeps getting better and finally for him it appears the Angels are too, the win today moves them to 21-12 on the season.
  19. If there is one good thing to come so far from this dumpster fire of a season is seeing guys like Brieske and Faedo look half way decent up here. Its only been like a handful of starts between them so tiny sample size but if they do turn out to be legit mid level starters that could be big for us. That could allow to perhaps trade a Mize and/or Manning for a bat if/when they regain their trade value.
  20. Yup, 37 million a year for probably 20 games a year so damn near 2 million a game. Im pretty sure that's more than most Americans will make in their lifetimes.
  21. Meadows seemingly has had a few of those type of balls this year. I have a feeling he's gonna start a little HR hot streak coming up.
  22. The As are getting shutout cause the Comerica scoreboard is prepared to have a bunch of zeroes for the home team.
  23. Somebody needs to do a wellness check on Montas and the rest of the As pitchers for atleast the next couple days. Giving up runs to this team is the type of thing that makes you question your existence.
