Don't know how well it works but That 3 wheel toro is pretty sweet looking, not that I'm a lawn equipment connoisseur or anything so I never seen a 3 wheel machine like that before.

Forgot to copy the link but I did indeed see somebody on Twitter confirm that Alex will be the 27th man tomorrow, I didn't see if he was starting but I presume he is.

Also if you're good enough to reach the conference championship game you're good enough to win the SB, the NFL is much like the MLB in the aspect that their playoffs can be a crapshoot since they are just one game. I know it's a cliche but it is true, especially among teams of that caliber and that's on any given Sunday anybody can beat anybody else.

Goff has a TD pass that traveled 62 yards in the air, one of the longest in recent memory among NFL qbs and just last year had a td travel 50 yards in the air so I don't get where this narrative comes that he can't throw a ball more than 20 yards. He may be too reluctant to throw deep but that doesn't mean he physically can't if a guy is open down there.

On a serious note Im still of the belief that we can be contenders with Goff. Yeah having an elite qb makes things a whole helluva lot easier but teams have shown in recent years that you can indeed win without one. The 49ers made a SB and NFC Championship with Jimmy G The Jags made an AFC Championship with Bortles The Titans made the AFC Championship with Tannehill The Eagles won a Super Bowl with Foles plus not to beat a dead horse the Rams made the Super Bowl with Goff himself. I think if Goff can play like he did the last quarter of the season then that is sufficient enough going forward for the Lions if they continue to add the surrounding pieces like they have been.

My kool aid glasses reads and takes that as Goff = Brady!!

I don't know why I didn't think of this before but with us trading up for Williams it basically nullified the fact the Rams won the SB and we got the 32nd pick in turn. I mean even if that pick was say 20th we still wouldve had to pony up atleast the 34th pick to move up to 12th. I guess the only difference is that maybe we couldve gotten away with trading our comp pick instead of our own 3rd rounder but that isn't that big of deal.

I don't have a link cause I just saw it on Sportscenter but did anybody see the ump in the Mets game apologize to the pitcher for missing the call? It was a full count and he called seemingly reluctantly called a ball so the pitcher gave him the look and the ump proceeded to touch his chest in the "my bad" kinda way then apologized for missing it. You could tell right after he called it a ball that he knew he messed up and shouldve called a strike but I guess he figured by that point it was too late to change it. Either way though it was nice to see an ump own up to a missed call for a change.

I really like what the Chiefs did considering where they were picking. I prefer the fact that the Lions got two studs but considering the Chiefs didn't have the luxury of picking 2nd I think Id probably give them a higher grade than the Lions.

Lamar being a run first qb is definitely a legit concern but I do think that he is a good enough passer that he won't go full Cam Newton once he can't run and I also think his athleticism is so much higher than any non Vick qb we have ever seen that if/ when he starts to lose something he still will be so ahead of everybody that else that he will still be a problem for teams with his legs.
-
Stafford didn't exactly look that good the last couple years he played, that may have been due to injury but still from an outsider's perspective he was playing like a fringe upper half qb that was getting older all the while seemingly getting banged up more. Hypothetically if he would have played 2020 like he did for the Rams in 2021(throw out the team success just talking personal standpoint) I think we probably couldve gotten 3 firsts for him but in typical Lions fashion he had to have one of his poorer seasons the year he asked to be traded so we couldn't get as much as we might otherwise have gotten.
-
Depending on how we look next year would determine if Id be willing to give up a ton for somebody like Jackson. If we do indeed play near .500 and it appears that we'd be a qb away from being not just legit playoff contenders but possible SB contenders then Id gladly trade our two firsts next year and another one for Jackson.(assuming he is playing at a high level)
-
Right now it does appear that we may be copying the Denver blueprint. They got playmakers on both sides of the ball so they had moderate success even without a qb but the veteran qbs took notice of that and zeroed in on playing there. If we go say 8-9 or 9-8 next year with only average play from Goff perhaps a good veteran will zero in on us to want to play for.
-
Yeah personally Id rather win and have the young guys show growth and promise but if we do underperform it would be nice to walk away with a CJ Stroud instead of a Jeff Okudah or even a Hutchinson.
-
Btw PFF put out their 2023 mock and they have us taking CJ Stroud at 4, yeah it would suck to have to endure another terrible season but if I knew Stroud would be at the end of the rainbow Id deal with it.

Lions Draft Grades and After Draft Talk/What's Next?
RandyMarsh replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Lions
I have to give it an A at this point and the reason is simple, the Lions arguably got the best defensive player and best non tackle offensive player in the entire draft. Getting two playmakers like that is worth an A on its own in my book. Fans and the media love to glorify trading down and picking up extra picks and while that can be nice the reality is the vast majority of the time those picks end up producing average starters AT BEST. You can find average starters in FA or even the waiver wire in some cases but what you can't find are true game changers and the Lions potentially got two of them, one on each side of the ball, and if that wasn't good enough they were both a huge position of need. To me that is worth an A regardless of how the rest of the draft turns out. -
Grossman hit on the hand, looks like he is staying in the game for now but surely after he runs the bases we will find out that he has been taken out of the game and has a broken hand cause that's just the type of luck the TIgers organization has had with hit by pitches.

If you want to put any stock into some of the pre draft concerns about Thibs caring more about his "brand" than football and all the similar knocks on him then you can't jump to any conclusions if he comes out of the gates looking better than Hutch like I'm sure many people will. I for one wasn't necessarily scared of those concerns or put much stock into them but if they turn out to be legit concerns you won't find out in the first half of or even full season he plays, you'll see them more down the road after he has had some success and started to make a name for himself in the NFL. So just something to keep in mind before you blast Holmes and Co. for passing on him if he does indeed put up a better start than Hutchinson.

Even though we're not a whole lot better than where we were at last year in terms of record I think we are playing a lot better than this point last year, basically outside of some dumb errors are main problem has just been the cold bats. The bullpen has been one of the best in baseball in terms of run prevention and the rotation has been solid enough considering E-Rod hasn't been that good and essentially no Mize. Last year at this time all facets of the team was terrible
-
Quite the offensive explosion for the Tigers bats, first time in awhile they were above league average for runs in a game, of course it was done with no home runs but I suppose this is still a step in the right direction.

Not sure if mentioned yet but as we know the Lions and Jets were the two teams to make an offer for Samuel, while I haven't seen anything online about what the Lions offer was the Jets supposedly offered the 10th overall pick and a 5th rounder for Samuel AND the 49ers 2nd. 49ers GM John Lynch said both offers weren't "even in the same ballpark" of what they would be looking for if they were to trade him.

Just turning on the game, has Shep made the Stafford/Kershaw backstory yet?
-
Not Lions related but was reading Kiper's write up about Day 2 and his winner's and losers and it just baffles me how people in his position can be so dense. He named the Seahawks in the loser category cause they passed on Willis twice and paraphrased it with something like "I don't get it, do they think that Drew Lock or Geno Smith are going to play even close to above average football this season?" First off, who cares how either of those two perform this year, it's not like they are trying to win. Secondly if you do care how the qb performs this year you wouldn't take Willis since he certainly isn't ready to take over anyway and finally you don't take a player that you don't like or think is flawed just cause they may be better than what you have right now. I swear you'd think for somebody's who's entire job is draft related that they would realize that they have these things every year so you don't have to address a need right now and that you are indeed allowed to play a season with subpar QBs when you're planning on rebuilding anyway. Sorry for the rant, not trying to specifically pick on Kiper its just takes like this are a pet peeve of mind and I see it all the time from folks. Yeah if you are serious about contending and pass on a clear need I can maybe see getting frustrated but when you are planning to compete say 2 or 3 years down the road the goal is to just gobble up as much talent as possible and worry about need later.

Well according to PFF the Lions thus far have gotten the 1st, 9th, 43rd and 73rd ranked prospects out of their 4 picks. Not too shabby!
