Yeah just went and looked at a Lebron's rookie year and he averaged 3.5 a game while Cade's at 3.6. I checked him out cause he was the first guy that came to mind when it came to being put in a high usage situation as a rookie with poor teammates. -

Cade's gotta cut back on the TOs, hopefully that'll come with experience and better players around him. I know I see seemingly 1 or 2 a game that get credited to him due to having to force things or being put in a tough position due to his teammates. Still though they have been a problem but other than that it's hard to be disappointed at all with his play the last few months. -
Let's see if Glenn can work his magic!

With the amount of muscle Victor Reyes has supposedly added each of the last 3 off-seasons he should be looking like the Incredible Hulk by now. I swear each year they have said he added 20-25 lbs.

Matt Ryan just seems so ancient, hard to believe he was drafted only a year before Stafford and 3 years after Rodgers. He feels like he has been around way longer than Stafford and atleast as long as Rodgers, atleast to me anyway.

In regards to the race, with Orlando's win last night they now tied us in the win column for the 2nd spot. Okc is in the 4th with 1 more win than both of them and Houston is in the pole position with 2 less wins. I don't know if Houston will even win 2 more games the rest of the way so I think they will safely finish with the worst record.

I don't know what to make of Paulo and how his game will translate to the NBA but after watching him yesterday against State it just left me wondering "How can he not be the number 1 pick?"

Just about any other year Cade would be a shoe in for ROY but with the play of guys like Mobley, Barnes and a couple others its going to take a monumental finish for him to take it home and even then Id give him a small chance given how well Mobley and the Cavs had played. Btw the Raps are looking like geniuses now for that Barnes pick. They took some heat draft night for passing on Suggs but as of this point atleast it looks like they made the right choice. -
I read somewhere that on that contract Watson signed he worked it so he only gets paid 1 million this coming season, so if he gets suspended without pay he won't lose out on that much money. I think the fact he did that shows that him and his agent are totally expecting a fairly lengthy suspension.

My daughter's 4th bday party was today and being an only child and only grandchild in the case of her Mom's parents she naturally got a ton of gifts but the one that she was most interested in was the little golf set I got her. Being an avid golfer of 30 plus years it was my hope that one day she would pick up the game and play with me so seeing that brought a smile to my face.

How did Mize look? Did he throw any splitters? One of the fluff pieces I read said that he rediscovered it in the offseason and it was back to potentially being the dominant pitch it was known to be when he was coming up.

The Twins could potentially contend with CWS or for a wild card but they also could finish 4th or 5th. They essentially replaced Donaldson and Simmons with Urshela and Correa, that could be a 4 or 5 win upgrade if Correa stays healthy and plays at his best but if he doesn't then it really won't be too big of upgrade over what they got last year. They also replaced Garver with Sanchez at catcher which I think is a downgrade of atleast 1 win considering how atrocious Sanchez is behind the plate. He has a higher ceiling offensively though and if he could somehow turn back the clock to how he hit his first couple years than he could be a big addition for them but we shall see. The other big move they made was getting Sonny Gray. Yeah he's a good get but you have to keep in mind that they got 4 months of great Berrios pitching last year that they won't get this year so he may not even offset that. Ultimately though I think for them it's going to come down to Buxton's health and the development of some of their younger guys like Kiriloff. The past several years they are a completely different team when Buxton plays, he's a top 5ish all around position player when healthy but unfortunately he hasnt shown the ability to stay on the field. For Minny's sake if they do have aspirations of the playoffs he's probably going to have to cause I just don't see enough upgrades over last year for them to make that jump otherwise but regardless kudos for them for atleast trying and immediately reallocating the money they saved on Donaldson to use on Correa.

Shocker Carlos Correa to the Twins! 3/105 with opt out after 2 years. I'm just at a loss of words that the Twins signed him and he agreed to that little of guarantee money.

I like this method as well, even though I would've loved to trade for a premium pitcher I just don't know if would be wise to trade one of our top prospects or young cost controlled guys at this point. Assuming we don't go sign Correa or Story we're probably going to need alot of things to go right to have a legit chance of making the playoffs, I would hate to mortgage the future with the expectation that we are going to be contenders only for the things we need to happen not come to fruition so we end up being a mid 70s to .500 team. I'd rather see if guys like Mize and Skubal progress, Baddoo shows he wasn't a fluke, Greene and Tork make immediate impacts etc. before making a drastic move. If June or July comes and all those things happen and we are right in the thick of things we could always make a more drastic move then.

MLBtraderumors says that we are indeed signing Michael Pineda.

Honestly as big of proponent as I was against it at this point I may lean towards taking Willis at 2 and hoping we strike gold.

Btw Verlander made his return today against the Cardinals. Threw 2 scoreless innings with a pair of ks. FB averaged 94.7 and topped out at 95.8.
-
I think it's a great trade for Cleveland, def some risk of course given his off the field stuff but when you're in the position they are in by having good players at key positions but in qb purgatory you gotta take a chance like this.
-
Yeah me neither, I'm half kidding but maybe the guy thought Birkett meant that he wanted to talk to Hutch but with everything going on "he wasn't gonna make it to him" in that sense? Grasping at straws I know.

I look at owning team like you owning a house that all but guarantees to multiply in value every few years and renting it out to pay the mortgage. If your mortgage is 2K a month and you charge 1500 in rent, sure you're going to be losing 6K a year but you're making 10x more than that in equity in this scenario. Same with owning sports teams, even if they lose money on the bottom line the equity they gain more than makes up for it.

With the amount of draft capital that I imagine Atlanta would have to part with for Watson I don't think they would use what little draft picks they will have left in the coming years on a likely backup QB for them.
