  1. So the Saints are the last opening left, did they ever name any finalists or anything? Just curious if Glenn is still considered a serious possibility for them.
  2. The more stories I read about these qbs the more I'm sticking to my guns of not wanting to take one with any of our picks. Yes evaluators can be wrong but majority of the time when it's almost unanimous like this the player doesn't end up panning out and I dont think the Lions are in position to take that risk. If we were set everywhere else and only a qb away then perhaps take that chance but were not in that position.
  3. Other than the MLB All Star Game I don't think I watched any All Star/Pro Bowl of any league in 20 years, probably since the days the NBA All Star Game was on NBC during the day.
  4. It's funny how different NFL coaches look today vs. the stereotypical Football coach you would think of in the past, except for MCDC of course. Like this guy looks like a total nerd that wouldnt even know what football was let alone be an NFL Head Coach.
  5. I was being a smartass cause I figured people would be saying that.
  6. Anthony Lynn was just hired to be the 49ers assistant HC. He's not good enough for us but good enough for the NFC runner up!
  7. In regards to that list I wonder how high Trout could potentially go? He only just turned 30 so he should have atleast 3 to 4 prime like years left in him. If in those years he registers his normal 9+ WAR he would pass guys like Williams, Mantle, Musial and Gehrig in career WAR before turning 35. Of course he has been more banged up as of late and you never know when Father Time is going to kick you in the ass but if he keeps on the same career arc I could see him ending up at or near the top 5 when it's all said and done.
  8. I remember being in NYC in the summer of 2007, I ended up "befriending" a couple locals(basically we became drinking buddies for the weekend) and I would give them so much shit about Jeter. I remember being like "Well atleast you got one SS in NY with range but he plays in Queens.(Jose Reyes) They just refused to accept that his defense was overrated.
  9. I know Wannstedt coached Pitt so maybe he does have some knowledge of this but he also said last week after a mock had the Steelers taking Pickett that Rooney and the Steelers would never take him cause they dont like taking Pitt guys cause they feel it puts too much pressure on them from the start. I thought that was an asinine reason not to take somebody but I didn't know Wannstedt's reputation so perhaps he is wrong about that too.
  10. Lol I remember Batch rookie year getting off to that great start meanwhile Peyton Manning was struggling a bunch of us in school were like "I bet the Colts are regretting passing on Batch right about now."
  11. Totally unrelated to the current topic but I saw a video on yt that showed Brady's first and last ever pass in the NFL. I didn't realize his first ever pass was against us in the Silverdome in a game the Pats were losing 34-9. Of all games to make your first NFL appearance in it has to be in a rare game where the Lions are actually the ones blowing the other team out? Idk I think there must be some connection between that and the career he ended up having.
  12. If you're holding out for a minority hire this year I think Glenn with New Orleans may be the only real chance.
  13. Jags are reportedly hiring Doug Pedersen. Down to just the Saints,Texans and Dolphins now.
  14. Even though Miggy had a babyface and looked more his age that was always a concern of mine with him as well but in his case I think it may have only been a year or two tops where as Albert looks like it could easily be 5 or more.
  15. I really can't argue with their top 10 too much. I think Bonds should be higher and Id put Williams ahead of Aaron but both of those are minor quibbles.
  16. Speaking of recruiting with signing day over Michigan finished 8th, 9th and 9th on ESPN, 247 and Rivals respectively and 3rd in the B1G in all 3 behind of course OSU and PSU. If he really was telling recruits he had a strong interest in the NFL like Will Johnson's father said he was telling them it makes you wonder if we could've ended up with an even stronger class if none of this happened. I'm sure at the very least it wouldn't have been any worse.
  17. Yeah for sure. It totally reeks of the cheating spouse that got dumped by their side piece and their spouse found out about the whole thing. "I swear I won't cheat again, I'll be faithful to you forever if you take me back."
  18. If so then I think we are all awful human beings. Lol
  19. I didn't want Fields or any qb last year cause I was and am of the belief that you should build up the rest of your team first so the qb has the best chance to succeed but if you're going to take one just 1 year later that obviously wasn't your intentions so to me in that case you should've just taken a QB in the superior draft class. After all it wasn't like last year at this time there were any guys that people were super excited about in this draft. There was Howell, Rattler and a couple others but none were seen as these premium can't miss qb prospects and I think the consensus at the time was that Fields was better than any of them.
  20. Unless Shep pulls a Thom Brennamen or something I afraid we are stuck with him for the foreseeable future. I did really like Petry in the color role so I'm glad he is still part of the rotation.
  21. It's a small sample and he is a rookie which isn't unusual. Lawrence looked awful as well but I would gladly take him over anybody in this class. Also Fields showed some promise. According to PFF he had one of highest "big time throws" percentage in football which is a good indicator of just how talented he is and the upside he has.
  22. Sounds like the Vikings are gonna hire Rams OC Kevin O Donnell. I suppose we'll never know if Harbaugh turned it down or if the Vikings turned him down.
  23. If he just wanted the feeling of being courted and wined and dined again I suppose I get it, until now the last few years were the first time in his coaching career where he really wasn't getting that experience. I just hope it didn't/ doesn't cost us any recruits this year or in the future.
