Minnesota writer just through out this proposal. Malik Beasley, Jaden McDaniels and an unprotected 2022 1st for Grant. Who says no? I like Beasley as a bench piece and somebody who can provide a bit of instant offense there but he is who he is and McDaniels while young probably isn't likely to be anything special so it really comes down to what you think of the TWolves and in turn that pick. It would be nice to get that pick right away and currently the Twolves are in the 7th spot, with teams like the Lakers, Clippers and Blazers also in the play in portion if that holds true they easily could be dumped out of it and that pick becomes a lottery pick. On the flip side though they are close to the 6th spot and if you feel they are only getting better and the addition of Grant will make them better then the trade doesn't make as much sense since then the pick could be around 20 instead. I'm on the fence about it, I mean I would certainly take it over keeping Grant if that is what it came down to but I personally would like for a better young lottery ticket than a McDaniels but I do think Beasley could be helpful to the team and the 1st could end up being the best that we could end up with.

Crazy comeback for the Clippers tonight, they were down by 35 heading into the half and came back to win. Our old friend Luke Kennard scored 7 points in the last 9 seconds including a 4 point play with a second left to give the Clips the 1 point win. -

Once Cade cuts down on the TOs and silly fouls like I expect him to with experience and having more talent around him he is really gonna be a star. He has all the tools and tricks to get any shot he wants and the ability to knock them down. His ability to finish with both hands and his touch near the hoop helps mitigate any lack of explosion that many people feared. Wish he could get to the line more though but that too may come with experience. -

Arbitrary cutoff numbers aside that is still impressive, not just rookie but player in general to reach those figures. -
Stafford watch (A place for Stafford discussion)
RandyMarsh replied to RedRamage's topic in Detroit Lions
Kelly Stafford is so annoying, between putting up with her and the Lions for over a decade Stafford deserves a Super Bowl and then some. -
I definitely think he is worthy but I felt there have been way more worthy guys than him in the past not get in on their first ballot, not to mention the guys on this ballot I felt were more worthy. Like look how long Edgar Martinez had to wait cause the voters thought it would be blasphemy to vote in a dh but Ortiz gets to waltz in on his first try.
-
Does this mean he's going to get the ceremony all to himself or can there still be Veteran's committee inductees get in? If he is the lone inductee it makes me even more nauseous.

Whoops you're right, I just went back and looked, it was a headline right under the Sean Payton stepping down headline and my brain must've put them two together.
-
McGwire has the 14th highest ops+ of all time, ahead of legends like Musial, Dimaggio, Aaron and Mays.
-
Mcgwire is one of the most underrated hitters of all time, of course he is the poster boy for peds so I know why he doesnt get the recognition he does but boy was he a force at the plate.

Payton says he "100% won't retire and come back in a year" so unless he goes back on his word or pulls some sorta shenanigans like coming back 13 months later(technically it wasn't just a year) then it appears Dallas or whomever may have to wait a little bit for him.
-
Oh I totally could see him doing that and if you believe in Payton it would be well worth it. Dallas is fortunate to be set at several key positions so they are a team that can afford to lose a top draft pick or two and to me when you're in that position that's a small price to pay to get a premium HC that can lead you to a Super Bowl.

Its a good thing we got MCDC when we did cause if he stayed there he surely would've been a prime candidate.

2021 NFL Playoff Predictions..........
RandyMarsh replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Lions
In an era where less and less people are watching tv the NFL shows once again that they are King and immune to that. 38 million people a game, crazy! -
If I had no knowledge of that logo and somebody told me to guess what animal that was Id probably run through a dozen things before Id say Tiger. Lol

The whole thing reeks of what Urban Meyer did in both FLA and to a lesser extent OSU. Bama was kicking FLA's ass and he saw the writing on the wall so he "retired" due to health reasons only for a year later take the OSU job which was probably the best non Bama job in the country.
-
Speaking of that I saw this tweet and it made me laugh.
-
Oh not suggesting he would, just saying that IF it was something stress related and he was just burned out from the high demands and responsibility of being a HC that being a OC here wouldn't be a bad option for him in that regard. But yeah it's totally not gonna happen and Im 90%sure he's just going to head to tv.
-
I haven't heard why Payton might step away but if it's stress related perhaps he would rather have an OC job in an environment like here where we're seemingly on the upswing but not to the point where it's high pressure and you have to win at all costs.

I personally put any guy linked to steroids in that I believe would have been even if they were clean like Bonds and Clemens. Both were HOF guys before ever being linked to it so I think just using that resume and throwing out what they did on roids all together would be enough to get in. For instance if Miggy and Pujols decided to take steroids tomorrow and it helped them suddenly put together 5 dominant seasons and in Pujols case rewrite a bunch of career records like the HR record I wouldn't keep them out when they were eligible because I feel they were HOF to begin with. I do get though that there is a character clause and its not all about performance so I understand the voters that say no but to me I just more credit to what they did on the field and how great they were at that. Either way though the precedent has been set with arguably the greatest pitcher and hitter not getting in and that's if you are linked to steroids you can't get in. I mean if they cant get in despite both being at the very least top 10 players of all time your run of the mill HOFer has no shot going forward of getting in if linked to roids/peds.

I really would like atleast 1 more year of Glenn working with our young DBs but I would be happy for him if he got a HC job. I think he is deserving of it, there may be a few guys more deserving based on longer track records but based on what he did here with the guys he had to work with I think he proved he is a great coach. It's hard to understate just how little of talent we had out there yet on most occasions the defense atleast looked fairly respectable.

The G with the baseball wings is a horrendous logo, I thought it was just some fan made thing a HS kid made on his computer the first time I saw it. I totally get 90s Angels vibe from the logo except this one looks less professional.

One thing that stands out to me is just how consistently good the Yankees have been. We all knew how good the Dodgers have been this past decade plus and I would have presumed they were way better than the Yankees and everybody else but in reality they have only been about 2 games a season better than them. It "feels" like the Yankees have had a few bad seasons in that time frame but evidently they haven't, it's just that the bar is of course set so high for them that the "bad seasons" are still good for every other franchise.

AJ and Co. have the Tigers ready to run through walls like MCDC does with the Lions.

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
RandyMarsh replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
I'm starting to get confident that the season will start on time. I think both sides played chicken with each other but are ultimately coming to the conclusion that they can't afford for the season to be delayed or for a long term strike so they will meet in the middle and come to an agreement.- 1,851 replies
