Its nice to see him getting some recognition and interviews but selfishly I hope he doesnt get a job and stays here cause I think he has done a great job and would be a major asset going forward.

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
RandyMarsh replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
Baseball not promoting its stars is one of their biggest problems, I will say they seemed to try to do that with Ohtani this year so perhaps they are learning. I just remember a couple years ago ESPN ran a fame 100 countdown where they ranked the 100 most famous athletes in the world based on things like social media followers, google searches, endorsement money etc. and iirc not a single baseball player made the list.- 1,851 replies

Did not know that, that makes more sense than him just being loyal to them.

Don't know how true it was but I found it amusing that the Dolphins owner essentially said he wouldn't go after Harbaugh cause as a UM alum he doesn't want to disrupt their program. If he means that then that is serious dedication to your school that you would risk not taking what's best for the team you own cause you don't want to mess with your school.

There are very few things in the world more frustrating than that. If there is a hell I imagine it's an endless loop of that situation.
-
One more thing, there seems to be alot of hate and doubt on Love and I'm not disagreeing but keep in mind he was rated equal or higher than most of the qbs that we would be likely to get with the Rams pick so he is exhibit A of what can happen when you settle for a QB in round 1 just cause that guy happens to be the best available.
-
Most teams defer the opening kick regardless of their defense cause they like having that potential option of having back to back possessions to end the half and getting the ball at the start of the 2nd.
-
Its hard to quantify the amount of positive impact if any a win like this can have going forward but I think it's safe to say if there is anything that can be had a guy like Campbell would be able to get the most out of it.

RE: Goff, his last 5 games he finished with a QBR of 64 which is what Stafford finished the season at and would be good for top 5 in the NFL and had an 11 to 2 TD:INT margin on a respectable 7.5 YPA which again would be good for top 5 if done over the course of the season. Assuming a return of Hockenson, an early WR draft pick/FA Signing and a potentially better O line with a returning Ragnow, more healthy Decker and more seasoned Sewell and I think it could be interesting to see what he can do next year over the course of the full season.

Staley now says he called the timeout because he wanted to make sure they had the best run package in. I imagine he wasn't quite convinced that the Raiders wouldn't throw it on 3rd down but once he saw their package he realized that they were running for sure and he wanted to make sure he stopped them so he called the timeout to put in the different personnel. Unfortunately their best run package wasn't much help.
-
Yeah I don't think Staley was calling the timeout for any strategic advantage or anything cause like you said why wait till 4 seconds left on the playclock to call it then? I think he did it cause he saw something with the defense that he didn't like and/or to just remind the defense of the situation again. Perhaps he wanted to reiterate to them not to make any dumb penalties(like they got away with a facemask a play or two prior) and things of that nature.

Getting closer and closer to that tie. Both teams matched FGs in OT and now we're still tied with just 4:30 left.
-
This game is crazy! Last play of the game and Herbert throws a 100mph dart for a game tying TD to force OT. I believe the Chargers converted 3 4th downs on that drive along with that buzzer beating TD. Hey we may just get that tie after all!

I love me some Bol Bol! Seriously every time I have ever watched him he did something that impressed me so adding him just gives the Pistons one more player for me to be interested in. Sure it's a long shot he turns into anything decent in the NBA but I think there is atleast a chance he can be a piece for the team going forward so that makes him intriguing to me.
-
I still think that he may have been hurt the first half of the year or atleast after the GB game in week 2. While he didn't look great those first 2 weeks he was atleast throwing the ball down the field and made a few plus throws, unfortunately he just turned it over too much, but from about week 3 till he eventually missed time due to the injury he just looked horrible. Like he was afraid to throw the ball more than 10 yards cause he physically couldn't. His last 5 or 6 games were really good and more of the type of QB that everybody hoped he would be when he was acquired.

The Lions finished 3-5-1 after their bye week and not counting the Denver game where they barely had enough players to play due to COVID the only blowout loss was to Seattle. The other 3 losses were by 3, 2 and 4 points so they really played alot better in the 2nd half of the season despite having a ton of injuries to key players.
-
Just imagine if on the last play of the game the team reneged on the agreement and faked the knee and ran for the TD. That would be awesome!

I hated Kapler, in High School the baseball team and Softball team got to take a field trip to the Tigers game and this one girl on the softball team that I planned to flirt with while there was too busy fawning over Kapler to want to talk to me.

Brad Ausmus is back in the MLB, just got hired by the A's to be their bench coach.

I just remember in Gabe's first or 2nd game he hit 2HRs against the Cardinals and the headline the following day in the freep just said "Gabe Ruth". I have no idea why that stuck in my memory after all these years but it did. Also I was a 16 or 17 year old kid at the time who paid no attention to prospects or minor league stats, I just got excited and bought into a player if they made an immediate impact and would take no account of their pedigree or how they were projected so in Gabe's case I did buy in after that game.. perhaps that's why I remember it and the headline so vividly.

Off topic from the Pistons but I just wanted to point out how weird it is to see all these players from the past(well from a few years ago atleast) playing in games and in some instances actually making an impact. We mentioned Greg Monroe before but yesterday I saw that Lance Stephenson scored 30 for Indy along with Mario Chalmers suiting up for Miami. These are names I haven't heard in years and they are back on the court due to all the covid absences. It's kinda surreal and almost feels like I'm watching the Big 3 where they have all these flamed out NBAers whose names always bring back memories. -
Btw that Dallas win was of course the first postseason win since 1957, if we don't win one in the next 5 years the current drought would actually be longer than that one.
-
They get the Seahawks pick for Jamal Adams. Unlike us who's future picks will probably both be in the mid 20s or later they got fortunate and the team they traded with sucked the following year. Edit: nevermind you meant who would they draft if they traded the two top 10 picks not who they traded to get two top 10 picks.

And that 50 yard run secured the game and the playoffs for the Lions as well. The Jets had no timeouts left but if they would've stopped them on 2nd and 3rd down they still couldve gotten the ball with like a minute left down a field goal.
