I'd go Correa in that scenario. Now if we could get Baez for say 5/125 then I'd take him. I just don't like the idea of being committed to him for 8 years, if we're going to be committed to a player that long I'd rather it be the younger better player in Correa even if it cost 9 million more a season.

I know Baez is alot of people's 5th choice and who knows how serious these supposed contract talks were but it's nice to still hear rumors of us discussing things with one of the top 5 guys.

Bears at Lions. a turkey matchup for turkey day
RandyMarsh replied to buddha's topic in Detroit Lions
Campbell definitely deserves some criticism and there is definitely no excusing that blunder late in the game but people like me that defend him aren't so much saying he is great but are just trying to point out that everything bad that happens on the field isn't the coaches fault like some of you seem to think. Its like you put zero responsibility on an NFL player when they hold instead you blame it on the freaking coaches. Seriously? These are professional athletes, they know the rules and what is and isn't allowed, sometimes you get away with it other times you don't. Team has a false start, lets blame it on Campbell, like he is the one out there jumping the snap. Do you expect him to hold the players hand during the game or seomthing? A player blows a tackle, yep that's on Campbell again according to you guys. Let's not blame the millionaire athlete that has been playing football his entire life for not tackling correctly, instead it's the coaches fault. This team has far and away the least amount of talent in football, it isn't even close, particularly when you factor in the QB yet instead of blaming those guys you put all the onus on the coaching. If the coaches mean so much maybe teams should just stop signing expensive players or drafting high instead just trade down and collect middle round picks that don't cost much and coach them up to be good since that is what you all think the coach is supposed to do anyway. -

No it actually doesn't. The Special Team coach specifically is on the sideline counting the players and making sure the right ones are sent out. Sure Campbell could've chose to use a timeout when he saw the one player trying to get off the field but other than that it is not his fault that 12 guys were sent out there. -

That is not Campbell's responsiblity, that's what you have Special Team coaches for, that is their job. Not everything that happens on the field is on the Head Coaches shoulders like people seem to think. -

Lets check and see if that is actually Stafford underneath that helmet and number 16 jersey. -
Yeah I didn't know his history, just saw somebody tweet it out earlier, also I know mocks mean nothing at this point but if they are written by true insiders or true talent evaluators I think it serves a purpose to see where abouts people view talent as of now. It's obviously way too early to put any stock into them whatsoever though. With that said I do say that I wouldn't be surprised if a QB went as high as 5th, granted this is one of the weaker QB classes I can remember, atleast going by where pundits rank the best ones overall but seemingly every year there is a QB or two that ends up getting taken in the top 10 way ahead of anybody's projections.

I personally think it's low as well but like I pointed out in my previous post it's hard for us Michigan fans to accept but by all metrics we have a pretty damn good team this year and are a legit top 5 team. Is OSU better? Of course but rarely if ever do you see teams favored by more than 10 on the road when they play a top 5 team.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Vegas puts into consideration things like Michigan's record against OSU the last 18 years or Harbaugh's record against them. I believe they just look at things in a vacuum based off the stats and matchups and by advanced metrics while OSU is definitely superior to Michigan the spread isn't that huge. Like OSU is 2nd in SP+ and College football FPI(equivalent to BPI and RPI in basketball) while Michigan is 4th. The difference between the two is about 30%, while that sounds like a lot for reference that is the difference between Michigan and the number 13 team in that metric Notre Dame and if Michigan were to play at ND they certainly wouldn't be favored by by anymore than OSU is this game. Also in metrics like points differential per drive again OSU is 2nd and Michigan is 5th and again the margin is about 30% and again for reference Michigan is about 30% than teams like ND, Oklahoma ST and Oregon. One more thing for reference going into last week MSU was around 15th in all these stats where as Michigan was still in the top 5 which is a big reason why the committee still had UM ahead of them despite the head to head loss. To sum it up, in Vegas' eyes just pretend the team isn't Michigan but instead say a team similar to Michigan in the metrics like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame or Cincinnati, if OSU were to go on the road to face them how much would they favor them by? I don't think it would be a whole lot more than the spread of this game but since OSU has demolished UM recently fans think it should be alot more despite the fact that majority of the players playing Saturday weren't even playing in any of those games.

Also I do put some emphasis on the "Fame" part, it's not super important but it is an intangible that I think warrants consideration which is why if I was an actual voter and did more thorough research I may even include David Ortiz on that list. Yes Edgar was a better player and you could argue that since he isn't in no DH should be but I don't think that is fair. Two wrongs shouldnt make a right. Ortiz was one of the most feared hitters for 15 years, had some of the biggest hits in the playoffs in recent memory, was one of the most famous baseball players during his run and overall was one of the best at what he was asked to do and that's mash.
