  1. I'd go Bonds, Clemens, A-Rod, Schilling, Ramirez, Jones. As mentioned before I care more about how you were viewed at the time of your peak compared to your peers than your overall career totals. Also I don't care if you did steroids if I feel you were a HOFer even if you discount the years that you allegedly did them. That's why I don't have Sosa on here cause even though his career would warrant it if you take away the late 90s early 00s part of his career when he was accused of doing them he isn't a HOFer. With that out of the way I feel the first 3 don't warrant an explanation other than to say Bonds is arguably the greatest hitter of all time, Clemens the best pitcher of the last 50 years and aside from maybe Trout, A-Rod is the best all around player I have seen in my 35 years of watching baseball. I included Schilling cause not only did he have a 5 seasons of 8 plus WAR which is insane but I also think you have to include his postseason numbers and he is second all time among pitchers in postseason WPA. Jones I put in cause he is the best fielding CF I have seen in my time watching baseball, that alone may warrant consideration but he had a 7 year peak where he averaged over 6 WAR a season. His JAWS score is also more than many other HOF CFers. Manny I put in cause he is simply one of the best hitters of all time. His OPS+ is just 1 point behind Hank Aaron and Willie Mays, the same as Frank Robinson and ahead of guys like Miggy and Pujols. Plus he is one of the best postseason hitters of all time.
  2. There's been many attempts to create another football league the past few decades and they all seem to fail so I'm skeptical this will be any different.
  3. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2022-nfl-mock-draft-giants-find-replacement-for-daniel-jones-browns-beef-up-receiving-corps/ First mock I've seen that doesn't have us taking Thibs instead it has us actually going with Hutchinson. Also has us taking Dotson with our Rams pick. Some other notable picks are Willis being the first QB off the board to the Giants all the way up at number 5 and Thibs dropping to number 8.
  4. Yes we all know about his thin frame but this is just crazy, against the number 2 team in the country as well. Kid is a freak.
  5. That's about where I would put him as of now too. It may seem high considering his numbers haven't been spectacular but if you look at the numbers from other rookies they're mostly struggling as well so 4th doesn't seem too high. I only watched Franz that game against the Pistons but I thought he looked great in it and his numbers on the season indicate that he has been most of the year. Like with Cade(shooting aside) he just looked like a guy that had been in the league for a while and belonged there. Not a rookie that looked over matched, timid and out of place.
  6. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32706428/minnesota-vikings-de-everson-griffen-refuses-leave-home-firing-weapon Scary situation with Everson Griffen. Not going to try to play doctor but anytime something like this comes up in a sport like football I can't help but wonder if he has CTE or has the onsets of it. Hoping there is some other explanation though and most of all hope he is ok.
  7. I know they signed Robert and Eloy to long term extensions but I have no idea how the contract is structured. I know the one they gave Moncada goes up by like 7 million each year so if Robert and Eloy's is structured the same they will go up quite a bit each year.
  8. BTW it's way past due for Weird Al to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, such an underrated musician that is superbly talented.
  9. Looking at the White Sox payroll, I didn't realize that they were 4th in the majors(didn't realize the Padres were third either). They're at 156 million now and that doesn't include the 8 million a year they just gave Graveman so that would put them at 164. You got to figure Ray is going to get 20 plus and Semien 25 plus so signing both would put them well over 200 million and up behind only the Yankees. I suppose it's possible they do but I think its unlikely especially considering the fact that even if we make a couple more big moves we're still gonna be quite a bit behind them so spending all that extra money on a team thats already heavily favored to win the division seems really unnecessary.
  10. All I know is that as a Detroit sports and Michigan fan it is nice to actually be excited for a sporting event cause it has meaning and not just for seeing a particular young player that may or may not help one of our franchises be good years down the road. As unlikely as a Michigan win would be its nice to just have that hope of winning a big game and possibly competing for a championship. We've had that feeling a couple years ago with Michigan basketball and a couple other times in recent memory with this game but other than that things like this just haven't happened much the past 7 or 8 years in this state so I'm just enjoying the whole lead up to it and hoping to enjoy the game for as long as possible.
  11. It makes you wonder why the owner is handling negotiations for a player/contract in the range of 4/50? Like I can maybe see getting involved when it comes to the major guys and you're talking 10 year 200m+ commitments but it just seems odd to be that involved for something relatively insignificant. Not that 50 million dollars is insignificant but that contract seems like something the GM would just handle after getting budget approval from the owner.
  12. Definitely, I suppose if they don't resign Rodon that Ray would essentially just be replacing his numbers from last year but Semien would be a major upgrade for them.
  13. Lynn was actually the one hire between all the coaches and management I was least excited about so I'm not surprised he may be the first to go.
  14. White Sox signed Kendall Graveman giving them another weapon out of their bullpen and are reportedly in the mix for Robbie Ray and Marcus Semien to play 2nd base. They may potentially widen the gap between us this offseason instead of us closing it like we hoped.
  15. Utley is definitely one of those guys that me personally would strongly consider. He was an elite player for several years and for atleast 5 years was the consensus best player at his position. Had a 5 year peak where he averaged over 7 WAR a season. If you're like me who cares more about peak than overall numbers he is definitely worthy.
  16. People have been begging the FO for years to tear it down and start over and now that they do people are already questioning them and the coaching staff cause the team sucks. What did you expect to happen?
  17. Stewart gets 2 games, LeBron gets one. I don't think that is fair and most will say if it wasn't LeBron it would be different but going off memory it seems like usually the person that "makes the scene" is the one that gets more even if it was a cheap shot that started it. Case in point Jokic getting suspended and Morris only getting fined.
  18. Don't like the phrasing of "ultimately", that comes across as down the road instead of being this right away.
  19. Yeah after hearing you and Chas post this stuff it has made me change my stance on Story. I always knew pitches broke differently in Colorado but I never thought about how that would negatively effect their hitting on the road, instead I just had the mindset that them struggling on the road proves they can't hit pitches when they break normally.
  20. Well the one year Michigan had the lead either late in the 3rd or early 4th before JT Barrett got injured and a never before seen Haskins came into the game and torched things to give OSU the win. Another game is that infamous OT game where there was that questionable 4th down spot. So yeah Michigan got torched the last 2 times they played them but it's not like every single game has been a total blowout under Harbaugh. If the same OSU team that showed up against MSU shows up against UM then it most certainly will be but if they have a regular or down game I think UM could hang with them.
  21. I don't understand how anybody could blame the coaching staff, has Campbell been perfect in his in game decisions? No not at all but we all knew going into things that probably wasn't going to be his strength, particularly his first season at the helm but in game decisions is only one facet of being a head coach. The fact that this team has been competitive in most weeks despite having far and away the least amount of talent in the NFL suggests that the players respect him and are willing to lay everything out for him. Coming into the season most thought they would probably have 2 or 3 wins by this point, but that was assuming Goff was atleast competent, Okudah took a step forward and we wouldn't have had the amount of injuries we've had. If we knew Goff wouldn't be able to complete a pass more than 15 yards and would be the worst starting QB in the league, Okudah would get injured the first game, Decker would miss all but 1 game, Ragnow would miss all but 2 and our lone good pass rusher Romeo Okwara would miss all but 4 games I think most would have said that we would be hard pressed to win 1 game by this point. Again this team not only should be losing every game but they should be getting blown out like what happened against Philly, that's how different the talent levels are but that isn't happening and to me the coaching staff deserves alot of credit for that.
  22. THem getting blown out would further illustrate my point about the talent discrepancy. Again a coach can only do so much ultimately 9 times out of 10 the team that has the most talent is the team that is going to win the game. That's why Harbaugh consistently wins against the lesser teams cause he has the superior talent, if anything that should be a feather in his cap to show that he has his troops not looking past guys every week or playing down to their competition which is what OSU does once in a while. We all saw yesterday what a motivated OSU team is capable, they blew the doors off of MSU and Mel Tucker who you seem to think is so great. Well OSU is motivated like that every time they face Michigan, they never get the benefit of them potentially looking past them. So again unless you think you can find a coach that can somehow steal the top talent away from OSU then you're going to continue to be unsatisfied no matter who is here and I got news for you unless things change in CFB or if UM is willing to start fighting dirty like other schools that is not going to happen.
  23. Im still liking the 3 year opt out option, I think Correa is going to be really good short term so if he indeed is he will likely opt out for another contract especially if we front load it. Say we sign him to 10/300 but the first 3 years are at 35 million a year. That would mean that when his opt out comes he would be due 7/195, while that is still a ton of money if he indeed is a star the next 3 years like I suspect he is going to be he would command much more than that in 3 years as only a 30 year star SS that has now put up in this scenario several straight elite seasons. It's definitely a risk though cause if he doesn't play like a star, particularly that 3rd year we're likely stuck with him but I think if all goes well this could be the best outcome for the Tigers.
  24. You seriously put way too much emphasis on a Head Coach in any given game. A Heisman Trophy candidate running back making guys miss and taking over a game has nothing to do with Harbaugh's coaching ability, again stuff like that happens in football. Not every win or every loss is on the Harbaugh or the coach like you seem to think. Every coach in almost any given game makes mistakes that you can point to in hindsight, the thing is those mistakes don't get noticed when the players on the field actually execute properly and win the game, when they don't execute, play poorly and lose suddenly every little thing that a coach does gets put under the microscope cause it's easier for fans to blame him than the players themselves.
