Fyi The game did just under 1 million viewers for ESPN, for comparison last week's game on Wednesday did 1.3 million on ESPN which featured the Hawks vs. Nets. I suppose all things considered it could've been worse. -
Agreed,I much prefer Gray or Rodriguez.

Its too bad Caleb Williams isn't available to 2024, I think he has the potential to be one of those generational guys.

I don't get how scouts and management can whiff on somebody like Hayes? I liked him pre draft but that's because the scouts had good things to say about him but it just makes me wonder what they saw or projected. Like I get whiffing on freaks like Darko or athletic "unicorn" type players. You're hoping they can develop some tools to go with that athleticism or measurables but guys like Killian didnt have that. If he put up monster numbers in Europe perhaps I could understand but he didn't even do that so like what about him did they see that made many pundits fall in love with him? -

As Cade progresses he definitely is going to need to add a floater like Trae Young to his arsenal. He hasn't had any problems getting to the paint but he hasnt been able to knock down the short jumpers,if he could perfect the floater it would help him immensely. -

Btw I got a kick out of Jeff Van Gundy getting on the ref for calling that 2nd foul on Cade. "Doesnt that ref understand that people are only watching for him, nobody's gonna watch this game if he is on the bench in foul trouble." Lol so true. -

Cade has to go to the bench early with 2 fouls, he's got to be smarter about when to reach or challenge plays. Ditto for most of the Pistons. Offense was looking great with him, they were up 11-2, then as soon as he goes to the bench its stagnant again and Houston goes on a run. -
I do think there are a couple playmakers on defense but on offense I do agree, no receivers as good as the top guys last year and none of the qbs would probably be ranked above any of the top 5 last year. Of course that would happen the year the Lions get the first pick and have 2 first rounders.

Yeah I think it will depend on how the draft shakes out. Judging by that War Room video from last draft where Sheila asked about a WR only for Holmes to say they could get a similar one later(presumably St. Brown) leads me to think that unless there is only 1 or 2 receivers available at that pick that are clearly a cut above any guys they could get with a later selection then they will probably just wait. For instance if say 4 of those top guys drop to the Rams pick they may think it is best to get a different position and bank on atleast one of them still being there in the 2nd. Atleast that's how I would do it.

Kiper released his new top 25. Has Thibs 1, Hutchinson 5 and Ojabo all the way up to 10. Didn't have Daxton HIll in his top 25 but he has him 2nd out of all the safeties after Hamilton who he has 2nd overall so I'm guessing he's just outside the top 25. Has Pickett as the top ranked QB at 20 followed by Willis at 25. Has 6 WRs in the top 25 overall with Drake London from USC being the highest at 7. The OSU pair of Wilson and Olave are 16 and 22 respectively. Still a ton of time before the draft but it appears that we may be able to get a really good WR with the Rams pick if we choose to go that route.

Totally off topic but I got a chuckle out of this so I figured I throw it in this thread. Disclaimer some NSFW language in it.

Rumors are the Yankees are really trying to get Verlander, of course if I were a Verlander or his agent that's exactly the type of thing I would want to put out there so who knows how true it is but personally I really hope he doesn't end up there. On a side note, I saw Verlander was trending on twitter so I clicked on it and it led to a bunch of rumors of him and Yankees. While sifting through tweets about it I got to see several from Yankees fans and lets just say their expectations are a lot higher than other teams. I read more than one that said things like "I'll consider it a good offseason if we get Correa, Chris Taylor, Verlander, Stroman and Freeman" lol most fan bases would be pretty satisfied if their teams got any of those 5 but not the Yankees, damnit they need all of them or they won't be happy.

I know ESPN booked this because of Cade and Jalen Green but I wonder if this is the worst nationally televised game ever in terms of combined records? There's probably been a bunch of times where teams were both 0-1 or something like that but outside of that it's hard to fathom the combined winning percentages ever being this low. , -

I watched a bit of that Duke game last night and Keels and Banchero looked damn impressive. Banchero would be a better fit for us considering his size and length but Keels looks like he is going to be a stud in his own right. Also Chet Holmgren went for 14pts 13 rebounds 6 assists and 7 blocks in his debut. I know many are totally against him due to his frame and lets face it his race but he's gonna be in the mix for a top 3 pick. -
In regards to that Cabrera contract I still like to think that Mike wasn't sure how much longer he had and he wanted to make sure that Cabrera was a Tiger lifer. If Mike were to die before Miggy's contract were to expire he couldn't count on his kids giving him that extension. Also I'm sure out of loyalty to Miggy for what he gave the Tigers he may have wanted to make sure he was taken care of as well.
-
They had 2 full seasons plus a full offseason of exclusive negotiation before he hit the open market. To me if you're going to lock a guy up that early you should get some sorta discount instead the Tigers paid market value and then some. It was all risk with little reward.
-
If we can get him for 5 or less than it doesnt worry me personally. As I said above I dont expect him to play SS for anymore than 2 years but since we dont have a 2b of the future either and that is a very important position as well that doesn't bother me that much. Hopefully in 2 or 3 years we'll get lucky and a SS will separate themselves from the pack in our system and actually be a legit prospect.
-
Yeah guys regularly work out extensions the winter before they hit FA, theres no reason to think Cabrera wouldn't have done the same thing.
-
I prefer Correa or Seager as players but if we could get a Semien,Story or even Baez on a 4 or 5 year deal I think I like that option the most, especially if it comes at a lower AAV. Semien may not last at SS for more than a coupleyears before moving to 2b but Im cool with that. By then we will have a good idea on if Kriedler is legit and perhaps even Christian Santana. Plus with the smaller commitment it may allow us to go after a better SP and or reliever as well.
-
No AJ and so much for my Cora pick.
-
Hinch and Fetter throwing down the gauntlet! I love it!
-
Agreed. If we spend big on a SS and Kriedler ends up being a legit prospect well then we just got another asset to work with whether it be as a trade chip or possibly a move to 2b. On the other hand if we pass on the SS class this year and put our faith in Kriedler we are back to square one if/when he flames out.

ESPN had an article today about the CFB action on Saturday and in it was a snippet about Willis. It said that they talked to 3 scouts after the game on Saturday and 1 said Willis reminded him of McNabb, the other said Fields and finally the last one said Tavaris Jackson. Talk about a wide spectrum of comps.
-
Not sure if it's legit or not since it's just reportedly Reynolds confirming it but I believe it. Ive learned over the years to never doubt Verlander's ability or competitiveness.

Not that the AP poll really matters at this point but I had to chuckle at Notre Dame moving up 4 spots today and passing both Michigan and MSU. Notre Dame struggled until the 4th quarter against a 2 win team Navy team, Cincy the team that beat them has struggled against garbage teams for weeks including yesterday but damn it that is still good enough for the writers to move them up.
