Perhaps the one downside of being half way decent this year is not having that early Rule 5 pick to get excited about at the party.

Going into the season I think most expected them to be about a 4-6 win team but that was with the expectations that they would have Decker, Okwara, Okudah, Ragnow for most of the season and that most importantly that Goff would be closer to average, not closer to worst in the league. If we knew all of this before the season I think most would say that they would get blown out every week so the fact that they have been somewhat competitive most weeks is a feather in the coaches cap. It's hard to understate just how bad of a roster they are putting out there right now.

Clifford(PSU's number 1 QB) did indeed play the whole game. I only watched the last minute and OTs and he didn't look particularly good at all so not sure if he was completely healthy. Actually his biggest blunder from what I watched was in one of the OTs Penn State ran a reverse where the WR threw to him, it was designed perfectly and he was wide open for what would've been the game winning TD and he just flat out dropped it.

Illinois upsets Penn State in 9 OTs! For those that arent familiar with the new CFB OT rules after 2 OTs each team just lines up for 2PT conversions. Both Illinois and Penn State failed to convert their 2pt 5 straight times. The 8th OT both finally converted and in the 9th Penn State failed and Illinois converted for the win. Illinois QB on that last play was former Michigan QB Brandon Peters who apparently is on the Van Wilder program cause I thought he should've graduated years ago.

Illinois and Penn State going to OT.

Perhaps Harbaugh is just saving McCarthy for the tough opponents, wants them to have as little tape on him as possible.
-
Penn State at home struggling with a terrible Illinois team. Late in 3rd and their only up 10-7.

I know a punter would never do this but boy Robbins could've walked to the 1st down there if he decided to tuck it instead of punting. There was NOBODY there.

Lions vs Bengals - 10/17/21 - 1:00pm - FOX
RandyMarsh replied to MotownWebGuy's topic in Detroit Lions
haha that's the poster! Hung in my room for a few years before getting replaced by a Jenny McCarthy poster. It just so happened that he left the Lions right about the time I started puberty. lol -
A month ago the Dodgers rotation lined up with Kershaw, Scherzer, Buehler and Urias. You had the 2 best pitchers of the past decade, perhaps the best young pitcher in baseball in Buehler and Urias who posted a sub 3 ERA and 5 WAR. You wouldn't have expected them to be searching for a starter in any playoff game but here we are. Like the old cliche says you can never have enough pitching.

Bobrob’s 2021 Preseason Predictions Review

I always appreciate the work and effort you put into these predictions and honestly your predictions are probably way closer than most people would've done. -

That was pretty awesome and creative. I still remember having a poster in my bedroom as a kid with Spielman and a couple real Lions in the background, I think it said something "King of the Jungle". -
I may be a blind optimist in regards to ownership but I see no reason to believe that they won't spend money. They haven't went cheap in the drafts or international signings, they paid more of Verlander's contract in hopes of getting a better return and even though it wasn't big bucks they've spent 10-20 million each of the past few offseasons on so so players when they could've easily just given those spots to AAAA minor leaguers for the league minimum. Whether we like it or not NO teams in baseball spend big money in free agency when they are bottom feeders like we been so to me the fact they haven't doesn't mean they are cheap. Also Chris and Al didn't have to come out and say they plan on spending, the fact that they do leads me to believe that they will. Do I think they will spend like Mike and operate at a loss? No but I believe that they will eventually be around the top 10 in team payroll.

Yeah he's the main reason I was rooting for the Astros this series, well that and I hate the Red Sox. I always thought Baker got such a bad rep, yeah he's old school(I think he is adapting though) and perhaps he pushed some past young pitchers too hard but he's won everywhere he went. He reminds me of Leyland in a sense that he may or may not be the best tactical manager but the players seemingly love him, he keeps a cohesive clubhouse and he seems to have a sense when guys need to take a game off or two. What managers do behind closed doors may be the most important thing they do and can outweigh any shortcomings they may have in regards to in game decisions. Not necessarily saying Baker is bad at that just saying in general.

Tigers spend money Miggy gets hit three thousand Still lose not funny

You look at that 2011 team and its amazing we made it as far as we did. In the ALCS our lineup featured Austin Jackson(317 OBP for the year), Ramon Santiago and Delmon Young batting 1, 2, 3. The bottom of the lineup had Raburn, Peralta(solid 2011 but was terrible for years before that) and Brandon Inge. Our bullpen had Valverde and that was about it. Of course we had a great rotation and Miguel Cabrera but still there were a TON of holes on that team.

Anybody know why Yoda hasn't made the transition over here? Off the top of my head him and Deletrious are the only 2 regulars that I can think of that aren't here.

The last 30 years the Braves have been to the playoffs a remarkable 21 times and only have the 1 World Series, in that same time frame the Dodgers have been 16 times and they too only have 1 championship. Between them they have made the playoffs every single season from in that time frame with the exception of 2007 yet they only have 2 championships between them.
-
Been to the playoffs 12 times since then with no WS appearance to show for it. Crazy.

I guess I never realized how rare it was to repeat in the MLB. Hasnt been done since the Yankees threepeteated from 98-00 and only twice since the 70s with the other being the early 90s Blue Jays. In that same time frame there have been 9 repeat NBA champions(many of those 3 peat) 6 repeat NHL champions and 6 Super Bowl Champions.

I didnt make any predictions but if I did I think I wouldve went with the Brewers and Astros. I wouldnt pick a play in team since they only have a 50/50 shot of even making the tourney so I wouldn't go Dodgers. For whatever reason I just never fully believed in the Giants so I would've gone Brewers cause I loved their front 3 and back of bullpen. On paper the White Sox probably had the most stereotypical October team in the AL, strong top of the rotation, proven ace you can lean on, dominant back end of the bp and balanced offense. But like the Giants for whatever reason I never really had faith in them so I think I would've went Astros due to their great offense and steady pitching.

Verlander comes home Tiger fans are filled with glee Greene and Tork arrive

The Braves have been without arguably the best player in baseball for several months so I don't want to hear any excuses.
