  1. I'm probably thinking with my heart and not my head but I truly believe in Verlander and think he could be one of those special players that are productive into their 40s. I know he is coming off of TJ so I would definitely temper my expectations that first year but even if he isn't a frontline ace that doesn't mean he still can't be of value.
  2. Yes that is the big concern and perhaps red flag for some teams. I don't know his exact injury history nor the medical know how to determine whether the injuries are the type that could be repeatable or make him more susceptible to injuries going forward or if they were just flukey injuries like getting hit by a pitch or something like that.
  3. Rays up 5 to 0 over Boston in the 5th. Nelson Cruz doing what he always does in the postseason whether facing the Tigers or not and that's hit HRs.
  4. As to whether he is worth it or if we would be better served spreading that 30-35mm a year out between multiple players is the big question. Personally I think if he plays 150+ games he will net us atleast an extra 5 or 6 games, maybe even more if you factor in the residual benefits he may provide to the pitchers so in my mind he would totally be worth it.
  5. I don't see any scenario where Correa doesnt atleast get what Machado got a couple years which was 10/300 but more than likely its going to take what Lindor got of 10/340. Guys like him that play premium defense at a premium position, have a plus bat and are still young enough to be great for many more years simply dont come on the market all that often.
  6. Whoops I guess I shouldve clarified that, yep Hess. IIrc he got covid sometime shortly after I made that prediction and that kinda derailed his season. I don't think he has any type of excuse for this year though.
  7. I remember In my bold predictions from LAST year(covid shortened 2020) I said that I thought by the end of the year he'd be a key piece in our bullpen. I just remember watching him in one of those intra squad games we did that summer and his stuff looked electric.
  8. Not sure if it has been mentioned on here but Tork, Greene, Kriedler, zack hesse, Garrett Hill, Chavez Hernandez and Wilmer Flores will be the Tigers playing in the AFL this year.
  9. It sucks but unfortunately in this day and age pitchers feel they have to throw max effort on every pitch. Gone are the days of throwing 75-80% most of the game and just letting the hitters get themselves out. You do that now and you're going to be putting a bunch of balls in the seats. Rolling back the ball will certainly help but I think in general with players now working out all year round with the top trainers, equipment, nutrition and workout plans available they all just gotten stronger with quicker bats so there are fewer and fewer "punch and judy" hitters that you can relax and not go full effort with.
  10. Anytime you have Lebron and AD on your team youre going to be a threat but I think the Lakers are going to find out that the additions of Westbrook and to a lesser extent Melo are going to make things alot more difficult for them. They are both totally inefficient scorers that are only going to take shots and plays away from the superior players in Lebron and AD.
  11. Potential future Tiger Chris Taylor walks it off with a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 9th.
  12. Pujols hits it on the screws but it's right at the CF. Still tied with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th.
  13. Just imagine if Pujols comes in and hits the walk off against the Cards?
  14. Liberty has Ole Miss November 6th, I'm sure all the NFL scouts will be glued into that one.
  15. I rooted for the Dodgers last playoffs cause I felt that they have been the best team in baseball the past 7 or 8 years and had nothing to show for it in terms of championships so I felt they were deserving. Now that they got that championship I don't care so much anymore.
  16. I will say after seeing the court on TV vs. Just a pic on Twitter I do like the look of the actual floor itself like the wood grain and stain/sealer they used but I just wish there was color in the key. IDK why that is such a bone of contention of mine but for some reason it always has been.
  17. I now like Juan Soto even more now, your seasons over but you still get front row tickets to a rivals ballpark just to support a former teammate. Bonus points for wearing his old jersey too!
  18. Sounds like Hayes is out tonight too, bummer with him and Cade both out I'm not so interested in this game as I was 24 hours ago.
  19. Btw I hate the bland look of the new court. I always hated courts that don't even paint the key. It just seems so amateurish.
  20. It doesn't appear to be anything serious.
  21. If the Lions want Willis or any other QB you'd think they would have the pick of the lot. I think the only teams that may end up picking higher than them are the Jets and Jags, neither of which is in the market for qb. I suppose a team could jump ahead of us and trade with them but I think that is a small chance.
  22. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32338821/2021-nfl-analytics-survey-most-least-analytically-inclined-teams-future-gm-candidates-more Pretty cool article about analytics in the NFL with input from 22 guys that work in NFL offices. The Lions weren't mentioned aside from getting 1 vote for top 5 most analytic heavy teams. They didn't get any votes for the bottom 5 so it appears they are more middle of the pack. Another thing of note they said the average NFL team is about 10 years behind MLB teams in terms of analytic usage and dependency.
  23. To add to this conspiracy theory, the Panthers also appear to be the biggest threats to Brady and the Bucs. Giving Brady's biggest threat in the division a potential lock down CB and make them that much tougher for Brady seems like a typical spiteful Belicheck move.
