Exactly. In 2021, that would have been Holmes. The Lions only won 3 games so he wasn't even considered. We didn't know Holmes got the best guys for the future until 3-4 years later.

No one had Holmes as the top GM in 2021, but in that offseason he acquired Goff and drafted Sewell, St Brown, McNeil, Barnes, Melifonwu, and signed Anzalone and Raymond who are still on the team. Bill Belichick won the 2021 executive of the year. He lasted two more years and left the Patriots with one of the worst rosters in the league.

The league doesn't like division matchups for that game. I think it's between the Lions and Rams. Broncos have an outside shot. The Lions have been an incredible draw the past couple years, so I think the Lions are a good shot at it.

Keep in mind they lost Cam Sutton unexpectedly. I think the initial plan was to have Davis and Sutton as the starters.

I think because the Lions drafted a RB high that they just throw out need and draft BPA. To the Lions, RB was a position of need. LB was also a position of need, and so was TE. I think because those aren't premium positions, people think they draft BPA.
