  1. In one of the Bill James Baseball Abstracts from the 80s, he wrote up medium length pieces on most of the current managers. Tendencies, strength and weaknesses, etc. And he ended with what they would be doing in life if there was no baseball. He had Sparky as a manager (maybe assistant) at a paint store. Cruel but fair?
  2. Went back to that thread on the other forum and someone said they had gotten this old shirt out again.
  3. But, but, socialism!!!
  4. Bert, I posted something similar on another forum. 👍🏻
  5. There will be injuries, so maybe that gets some of the young guys on the ice to show their energy and value.
  6. Drew Koch (are all Kochs delusional?) wrote that Tals Hill story, saying Mize or Olsen would start game 2 for us and that we had burned through a “ton” of relievers to finish game 1. Clueless on so many levels. I wonder if the Astros players felt the same sort of dismissive attitude, based on how they have historically succeeded so often. They may have thought they were playing the June Tigers, not the August/September/October Tigers. I recall Hader pulling out his batter chart to see how he should pitch to a Tiger (don’t remember who), as if he had slept through the pregame review for pitchers. On to Cleveland and victory!
  7. Yes, it would. Got an appointment in 38 minutes-was thinking I’d have plenty of time to get there after the game. Might have to catch the last bit on the phone. 🤞🏼
  8. Well, as someone who braved the agony of bone spurs, he knows his combat injuries.
  9. Whew, too much cortisol in my system right now. But yes! Yes! Yes!
  10. Hoping he’s rusty after missing the last 5 games.
  11. I thought Ben might be making a sly reference to Jake, another poster from back in the day. He liked to troll on Verlander being nothing special.
  12. Following up on them using only LHP- then they intentionally walk Verling, who comes around to score on a wild pitch. It’s the Whitesux way.
  13. Welcome home, Zakk.
  14. Yeah, it was your doubt that spurred them. Sure.
  15. My son just got back from the White House. He was performing as part of the Marine Band in a celebration of the 25th anniversary of The West Wing. Sorkin and a lot of the cast/crew. He said it was a great event and he especially liked a brief Martin Sheen speech that was kind of Jed Barlett lite.
  16. That Vance quote should be in ads. Although he is almost Trumplike in having so many FOS takes that choosing one is difficult.
