  1. No one willing to take a Krakatoa at the answer?
  2. Biden making America great again- back to 1966: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060921/
  3. I have many hobbies. Look for some guitar builds in the Hey Guitar Guys 2.0 thread later in the year. That’s just one.
  4. Five more days for me. Almost 67 and hoping SS plus some investments cover me. Both my parents lived well into their nineties.
  5. Ian, if you’re out there- thanks for sharing loonspudery with us.
  6. Reliever roulette
  7. Drumpf will be pissed about that.
  8. Can we get Benke working on a lineup soon? 🤓
  9. Right! Save those for the rest of the year.
  10. Is Trey Mancini still available? I know others have mentioned him as a possible addition. I don’t know that much about him, but he could be useful to give Tork days off at first and be a RH OF/PH option. I assume it would be a fairly low cost/duration contract.
  11. It’s all geek to me.
  12. They are people. Loading them on busses and shipping them across the country is not “performative” - what a stupid way to describe it. If it was a member of your family, I am sure you you would have very different way of describing the situation. Instead you go on about something everyone knows. Yes, there is an immigration problem. This is just cruelly manipulative. It solves nothing.
  13. You’re full of shit.
  14. I for one am relieved that our Castro void has been filled. 😎
  15. Was typing this as 84 was posting his similar thoughts.
  16. What about if they assigned what they saw as probability percentages, something like 10% -1WAR, 30% 0-.5WAR, 30% .5-1.0 WAR, 20% 1-2WAR, 10% 2+ WAR. Those are all just made up numbers, but they would reflect an opinion that he was likely to produce no more than 1 WAR, probably less against a smaller likelihood that he produces more.
  17. No disagreement there, I was more focusing on the MLB team for this year.
  18. The other things (beyond Malloy and Perez) I am interested in for 2023: is Turnbull healthy and effective, is A Meadows going to provide production near pre-2022 levels and can Carpenter continue his strong 2022 play going forward. There are other things of course, but success in those cases would make for a more watchable team and some sense of moving forward on a timeline shorter than four more years of rebuild, as some have said.
  19. Was spidertack an integral part of the Soto slider success?
  20. The pitching side of things last year was a mix of bad and good. Injuries to the rotation, but decent fill in service from low expectation arms, plus a strong BP. I wouldn’t say things need to go perfectly there to contend in the next four years. It’s the other side that was and likely is the big problem. If Tork, Meadows and Schoop all repeat 2022 next year, and Carpenter and Baddoo never achieve the success they have flashed, it will be a long haul. Or require lots of outside talent coming in. If several of those guys are good in 2023, the team will still be bad, but I don’t have the feeling of gloom that will last on into the decade.
  21. How many teams are ignoring the luxury tax, or did that change enough in the latest CBA that it has no teeth? I thought that the Dodgers were the only club that didn’t pay attention to the tax due to the enormous revenues. And the other high payroll teams at least made attempts to stay below some of the time and limit the tax. Some of the recent splurges..
  22. My take is that while pleased to see Joe J finally show consistent good outings this year, his history (and that of BPs in general) argues he shouldn’t be counted on to perform that well going forward. And with 2023 being a year where contending seems out of reach even with some upgrades, why not cash in on his 2022 year to get a hitter with real skills? Malloy may never do much. But he does seem to know how to hit. I hope they use this next year to determine if 3B is a possibility for him, splitting time with games in LF. Even if he were to end up as a DH in a couple years, that could be good value for a year of Joe.
  23. Agreed. I think the meetings often just set a preliminary contact/discussion on signing that will be followed up on later (or not). The top FAs get the press, but most will sign later. So I am patient, but also a bit bothered by the high price tags so far.
