Finnegan was fine, Morton had bad stats at the beginning of the season before we got him but had gotten better in the middle of 2025. Paddock, yeah, not a good idea. And then Morton lost that fine line of keeping batters guessing a little and it was over. In 2026 I am curious to see how the late innings are handled. Will it be by committee or defined roles, or a combination. Do Vest’s non-9th innings numbers 😵‍💫 matter or is that too small a sample. I still want better late innings LH options.

Since there are 60+ days left before Spring training, I am okay with where things stand now. Torres and Flaherty taking the QO filled two potential holes, and getting Finnegan back plus Jansen meant having a stronger end to the BP, at least potentially. Don’t know if Anderson is a positive addition, but some depth at least. If that’s it, I’ll be minorly disappointed. If they add any of the following: SP/LHP for the BP/RH bat for OF or left side of the IF -that would have me feeling better still, maybe even good.

That’s your spin. I don’t buy it at all.

It seems to me the big dividing line between the Pro Trade folks and the Anti Trade folks is on the return for Skubal. With no knowledge of actual proposals to access (ignoring the crap from writers that need to file a story) I tend to be in the Anti camp, but willing to change if a great return is offered. Until then, it’s all speculation and wishcasting. Show me the confirmed deals. Most never do come out in the open, some get a glimpse of what was a possibility.

I know there’s still the playoff to focus on, but the look on Cignetti’s face as he walked across the field after the victory- not a hint of positive emotion. 😶
