As I think about this more, I wonder what would’ve happened had they let Frank keep his bonus after recouping from Barry and Calvin. I can see a giant racial issue being created even though that wouldn’t have been the reason for letting Frank keep it. To avoid a media firestorm it may have come down to either recouping from Frank or finding a way to pay back Barry and Calvin. The former being much simpler. The Lions are in their financial glory days. The franchise has never made more money on their own while at the same time the league is churning it out for everyone. I still think it would’ve been in their best interests and a great PR move to pay all the money back but I get it.

True but if other companies in your industry choose not to claw back and you’re the only on that decides to do it, that can become an issue competing for talent.

My initial thoughts on ABS are I’m not sure it’s worth it to challenge early in a ballgame unless it’s potential rally extending call like the ones last night with Tork and McGiggity. You want to save them for situations where they have an impact on the outcome of the game. That’s typically going to happen more in the late innings. I also think it should only be used on a potential strike 3 or ball 4.

I agree there’s a huge problem with qualifying. That needs to get figured out. We are also developing new safety issue as witnessed today with Bearman and Ocon. The racing line doesn’t change but when the drivers save energy does so you create a very dangerous situation of where a car behind is going much faster and has no place to go. I do like the racing and the passing but it is getting a bit hard to determine what’s a real pass versus a driver purposefully saving and taking it back later in the lap when that car charges. Overall, I like what they are trying to do and it’s created a more racy environment but they need some major changes going forward. I hope F1 will take the next 5 weeks to do some serious changes.

Huge misses. Don’t care if the contract AAV were good or not. These guys were not able to do what they were supposed to do. They were brought in to solidify line 2 and they haven’t made that happen now 3 and 4 years in. They haven’t helped the team take the next step to make the playoffs. Contrary to accepted belief, they have actually tried to build a team to make it each of the last 4 years. If they were really signed as placeholders until the team was ready for playoff, then why are they still on the roster now? Average guys filling a place signed to a 5 year term doesn’t seem to make a ton of sense. They are in playoff mode and these guys are still here. Copp has one year left after this and Compher two. They were signed to be part of the move to the next step and they’ve underachieved at helping to do that.
