To be fair to Chevron, at least they provided a plan to deal with this. What has Biden done? And please don't embarrass yourself by mentioning the release of a drop in the bucket's worth of oil reserves. I'm not saying the right answer is to follow Chevron's plan, but I haven't seen anything from this administration to deal with this. Biden has been slow to react to this, just as he has been on most issues.

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/texas/article/Uvalde-police-officer-was-detained-as-he-tried-to-17256559.php A good guy with a gun, prevented from doing anything by other 'good' guys with more guns. The loss of life is horrible, but the response is infuriating. It does look like Texas and this city is going to try and hide the details, but everything needs to come out.

I heard a report this week that the classroom in question wasn't even locked. No one attempted to try and find out until they finally went in to breach it. Not that I want to see it, but the police cams need to be released.

I wrote it with the citizenry in mind, but I think you could argue both lose.

I mentioned on here before a short conversation I had with a canvasser for a State Senate/Rep position over here in northern Macomb county. This candidate is Trump endorsed and says she'll put up articles of impeachment for Whitmer her first day on the job. Complete nutjob. Well, saw an ad yesterday from someone running against her, saying she's a RINO and not strong enough on ending abortions. Granted she wants to outlaw birth control. I know this, whoever wins ensures we lose.

I have really good insurance through my work and have had the pharmacy ask me to look up something on GoodRX to see if I could get a better deal. It's worked a few times.

If only there was a clean way to make massive amounts of electricity where we'd already have let's say 50+ years of experience with it.

Manchin had a few things I remember him quipping about, spending too much on renewables when he felt we were already investing a ton and spending would just outpace technology and he didn't like the child tax credits, at least how they were written in the bill. Sinema helped kill off the tax hike. So what you posted above, while a much leaner bill than what was proposed originally, could have been passed. The two things that you believe would benefit this country could already be made into law by now. Instead we get nothing and only get to feel better about it by blaming Manchin and Sinema with the hope that come next election, everyone shifts the blame to the GOP.

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/15/floridas-skips-ordering-covid-19-kids-vaccines-00040071 The fact this hasn't been huge news kind of shows Covid is on the back burner. I do think if parents want to give this to their kids and it's been approved, the state should support it, but i'm not terribly upset either. Kids were never at high risk of serious illness or spreading it. I'm still pro-vaccine, but my wife is still dealing with issues which they insist are a result of the vaccines (flu and covid booster together). If I had kids under 5 I probably wouldn't give it to them.

I remember reading a deep dive into Tesla stock and they stated that if Ford and GM's electronic push even provided a moderate competition to Tesla, Tesla would be about an 80 dollar stock in 2-3 years, that was about a year ago. Ford has since made it clear they are 100% all in and Barra just this week said hybrids are not an option. Guess we'll see.

Question for you, what do you believe was the best part of the BBB bill? See, there is a place for different minded people to come together. I'm not going to go so far as to say they disgust me, but it definitely saddens me. I just go further and look at the cesspool of elitists that believe their way of life is the only correct way to live it. They sadden me as well.

I was never trying to compare the crazies in each party and which one was worse. In fact if you reread what I wrote, I acknowledged the GOP has a bigger issue with this, it's not even close. My point still stands though, each party is largely being held hostage by a small but loud group in their respective parties. My example of BBB is that you didn't need a single GOP vote. Not one. Would AOC/Sanders be happy with a compromised bill, nope. Would Manchin/Sinema be happy with a compromised bill, nope, but all your party needed to do, was put something together, give it to Biden, and put a W on the board. Instead, no one even talks about the infrastructure bill anymore and all people saw was dem in-fighting for months as we moved into economic uneasiness. Trust me, i'm not trying to 'what about' you or your party. In fact i'm rooting for it. The GOP doesn't change until it can't win an election. I'm just annoyed the dems can't put it together and find a way to beat up on the GOP.
-
Hey man, chill out. It is possible to speak about other issues and not try and compare it to the worst thing you can think of and hate about anything with an opposing view point.
-
Absolutely true, this points again to the fact that each parties loudest portions have moved into an 'all or nothing' mentality. This is part of the radicalization of those factions. And to explain, i'm not comparing the specific views on how radical they are and trying to compare them between the parties, but the loudest and left most of the Dem part, along with the loudest and right most part of the GOP absolutely share this radical idea that if they don't get everything they want, there is no bending. The only alternative is to point and scream at the other side and claim they are destroying America.
-
You're absolutely correct, the far left portion of the Dem party didn't have enough votes to pass their very left wing bill, BUT AGAIN, they did have enough votes to get a huge bulk of it done. Instead of incremental change, they choose nada, zip, zilch. But yes, in a (pfife's) perfect world, the issue is simply they didn't have enough progressive votes to get the bill exactly the way they felt it should be passed.
-
I'm unsure how many, or if any, voters changed their affiliation to vote. Dem money went into ads supporting Mastriano over other GOP candidates though. There have certainly been situations where both sides have pushed their folks to vote in open primaries on a specific person in the other party.
-
Yes, they catered to the left so much they couldn't budge to allow it to change from extreme left wing legislation to very left wing legislation, instead, they thought so highly of their ideas regarding that legislation they let it die and decided to put an all out blitz on two of their members.
-
I'd point out, more people voting in good faith in primaries being key as well. Dems helped Mastriano in PA, not because they would have preferred him over other GOP candidates, but because they felt he would be easier to run against. Both sides have done this, absolutely ridiculous and dangerous if they lose. Dems had to convince 2 moderate dems to go along with them. Those moderate dems were actually up front on what they needed to pass the bill, instead of doing it, the party vilified them. Instead of going after the GOP, they ate themselves.
-
That's why Build Back Better was signed into law, oh wait.
-
In terms of quantity, probably, not sure that matters though. The problem isn't who has the most radicalized on their side, it's that when push comes to shove, both parties revert to focusing on 'the base' which unfortunately is carried by the loudest folks, which tend to be made up of some of the more radical folks. So regardless of who has most of the crazies, it's still the crazies that often control each of the parties or at least have a great influence on the direction.
-
Not all republicans want creationism and junk theories. There is a larger contingent, especially across the bible belt, that do have skewed ideas, i'll give you that. But go ahead and follow Libs of TikTok, there are some messed up folks on the left side as well. They feed/troll on each other. Most American's, regardless of political party don't want the extremes of either side.
-
Have you heard some of the crap he has said? I'm not saying this isn't bad, but it's lower on the list of reasons why I don't want him in DC.
-
Seems to me, this overall is low on the scale of reasons why he would be a bad choice.
