They were giving examples of the steps that data goes through from the Survey until it hits the Jobs report or the revision and how it could be automated to provide real time data right to the BLS commish.
-
Still very leery of AI generated reports regarding news, but I was listening a podcast talking about the BLS numbers, in which they agreed that it's ridiculous that in 2025, that wide swing of numbers can be discovered in a revision. Point being that BLS has some antiquated systems in place to obtain these numbers. And with that, here's Google Gemini talking DOGE: Based on recent news reports, it appears that Howard Lutnick, the current Secretary of Commerce, has taken actions that have impacted efforts to modernize and improve the reliability of government economic data, including some that were relevant to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Specifically: Disbanding Advisory Committees: Lutnick disbanded two expert committees, including the Federal Economic Statistics Advisory Committee (FESAC), which advised on economic statistics, including those related to inflation, employment, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Concerns over Data Quality: Reports suggest that the disbandment of these committees, combined with previously existing budget cuts at the BLS, could negatively affect the accuracy and quality of future economic data. Criticism of Economic Metrics: Lutnick has also floated the idea of changing how GDP is calculated, suggesting the exclusion of government spending, which has raised concerns about potential political interference with official data. While the exact nature of any specific "project to modernize BLS numbers" that may have been canceled or impacted is not detailed in the provided search results, Lutnick's actions with the advisory committees and public comments on data collection have raised concerns about the future of such modernization efforts and the independence of economic data gathering at the BLS.

If you look at my posts, you'll find me rooting on the Cheney/Kinzinger's and hoping for more folks that will push back and attempt to make that party better, rather then just falling in line. The left wants people on the right to 'stand up for their principles' and 'speak their truth' if it's against the republican party, but when folks like El-Sayed have a major concern with the democratic party, 'shut the f up and get back in line'. If we got Biden, you actually believe there is any difference in terms of Gaza right now? El-Sayed didn't tihnk so and he spoke up. He apparently got enough assurances and endorsed Kamala. Honestly, forcing Kamala to defend her position on Gaza to El-Sayed in a stronger fashion might have actually helped her more. The fact that El-Sayed caved might have cost her Michigan (didn't matter, she still would have fallen way short).

That's the democratic party that I've grown to love (slash hate). Unless you shut the hell up and fall in line, you are not good enough to be a democrat worthy of our vote, not then, not now, not ever. Having any disagreement with your party only helps your opponent. Meanwhile when the opposing party falls in line to their parties leader, make sure to point out that's a fascist theme.

Exactly, remember back to the Drew and Mike days (for the Detroit area folks)? It was a big deal that they got to come back for a week after it was announced the show was over and in hind sight, half of the folks already agreed to jump over to the new sports radio station the company was launching. At the time though, that wasn't known and it was kind of shocking they were allowed to come on the air and say goodbyes. If CBS really was trying to shut Colbert up, they could have done it a lot easier, and like you say chasfh, they could have probably saved some money too. I get Trump sucks, but not every bad (or good) decision being made by a corporation is because of him.
-
Colbert was contracted out for 9 months, guessing most of the senior folks on the staff are on contract too, so cutting it immediately may not have really saved them a ton of money. But again, if the late show is still valuable to them and they simply wanted to please Trump to get rid of Colbert, you get rid of Colbert immediately and you find a replacement for the supposed lucrative late night slot.

I'm bouncing between MCS and Edman's thought process here. I definitely would have loved to add at least 1 lights out reliever, for whatever reason that didn't happen. Harris definitely didn't stand pat though. Outside of Skubal, every position on this team is upgradable, yet there weren't that many clear upgrades that appeared to be on the block. We have some depth, let's hope we get and stay healthy now.
-
This Colbert thing makes about as much sense as the WNBA players demanding NBA salaries. 40 million dollar loss is bull****? Because sources state that if they continued it past it's current contract, it may have lost around 40 million dollars a year, but it only lost probably 25-28 million this year, so the excuse that it was losing money is not fair?!?!?! If it was about Colbert and Colbert only 1) they send him packing immediately and pay out the rest of his contract and 2) they announce a new (cheaper) person to replace him. They immediately came out and said there would be no show going forward.

I feel like our lineup would welcome a 'maddeningly inconsistent' .900 OPS guy. Granted, I feel our defense is a bigger reason for our 1st place position then just about anything else, and we'd take a hit there.

He doesn't need the money and it's worth to Bezos is far beyond what someone would be willing to pay. The hope is, once Trump is gone, it's use will drop to nothing. Rather it's restored or just curls up and dies at that point is probably the real question.

Wasn't the funniest episode they've done, but holy crap, they went scorched earth. I want the meeting with secret service televised. Good news for Cheney/Kinzinger/Obama because they all moved down the priority list for Trump.

Crap, sorry, just reread Chasfh's statement. I thought it was reported that Bondi was informed Trump was in the file in May. I see Chasfh asked who the source would be Bondi told Trump he was in the files. I apologize for the trouble, I see I was incorrect. Back to my original statement, Trump surrounds himself with vile humans that will do anything to get ahead. I wouldn't be surprised if Vance, Bondi, Patel...heck Bongino already did a 'either Bondi or I go', any of them could be the source. Regardless it goes back to what I said previously, it shouldn't be surprising to anyone he's in the files. It still doesn't mean he's guilty of anything, but if he was, I certainly would understand the insistence on trying to change the subject or claiming it's not a real issue.
-
Seems like you're missing my point. The fact that Pam Bondi was informed that Trump was in the files IS technically news. But, as you say, they were best friends for years, associated together, were on each others planes, etc. Anyone that hasn't had their head buried in sand since Epstein was first arrested knows this and already knew Trump was in the files.
-
Honestly, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if Maureen Comey was used to verify it. Don't get me wrong, this is new information, I get that. But it's just confirmation of information that everyone already knew which is all I was saying. My mom spent most of her life as a house wife in the middle of Michigan, but her brother was in the Secret Service on the presidential detail. Do I know if there is an FBI file on my mom, nope, but I'm pretty confident there is. Honestly I hope there is, I hope the secret service dug into my uncle and his direct relatives enough to know that he could be trusted. So if 'news' came out today that my mom had an FBI file on her, it technically would be 'new' information, but it's also a 'nothing burger' in the sense the file means nothing. What's inside the file is the real question.

Honestly, I think this is the left's play against the Russiagate crap Trump is throwing out like it's brand new. There is nothing new regarding Russiagate, there really hasn't been anything new about Epstein. Well played by those that are ensuring the Epstein story stays in the spotlight.

This is the part that most conspiracy theorist are so easy to get past when they claim secret cabal's control everything. Too many people would need to be involved in order to erase it. Of those involved, every one would not only need to be MAGA, they would need to be willing to do break the law for MAGA. It took Trump 10 years to cultivate an admin of 20-30 people that are willing to lie on his behalf and get ~270 that talk behind his back but for his sake at least don't have a backbone to push back on him. How many previous Trumpers now talk crap about him once they stop working for him too? Yet somehow, everyone right down to a random records mgmt employee giving someone access to a room is going to not only be willing to break rules to help Trump, he's not going to tell a single person about it.
-
Absolutely, but instead of trying to confirm, Dems chose to ignore legitimate signs of trouble, like no cabinet meetings, and rallied around him instead and accepting the excuses Jill and Hunter were providing to the rest of the admin staff. Another example how Hunter helped screw the democrat party.
-
50 intelligence officers say this is Russian disinformation along with the coordinated response by the left was a joke. I don't think we really disagree much on what that laptop really showed. It was mostly just an embarrassment for Joe. But, the DNC and Biden knew and they chose to lie. Simple fact. I know you're fine getting lied to by someone with a D next to their name because you're fine listening to their excuse, but a lot of people, especially those that don't tend to lean left or right per se don't like it. Again, I'm not saying he was the main reason, but he was part of the problem and certainly a much bigger problem then Clooney, Carville, and Axelrod combined were.
-
Weird how a guy that has no interest in governing and would rather just golf is one of the worst presidents ever. It's about who is around them. Biden had credible people around him that governed at minimum, alright. I'm not ready to say he's the most successful since Johnson, still need some time to see how his policies shake out, but there was a reason I was willing to vote for a guy that I wouldn't have been surprised if he spent all day eating pudding, watching the game show network, and telling his family how Beau came to visit him today. Back to Hunter, seriously f that guy. His actions, and how Biden/DNC lied to defend him definitely caused voter suppression once people started to learn the full truth about the type of person he is and how the left was willing to try and pull the wool over everyone's eyes about it. Was he the whole reason, not even close, but he's part of the problem and I'd prefer he stay out of the cameras as all that will do it further stain his fathers legacy.
-
From a guy that thinks it is insane and crazy that Biden was allowed to hide from the American people so his decline wasn't seen even though I would have still preferred him over Trump....**** you Hunter. He needs to shut the hell up, he's a major reason Biden didn't win too and ultimately that was his own fault. Clooney simply pointed out what was becoming evident to some and the Biden family wanted to keep that hidden from the electorate.
-
Trump will say he got him fired, but Trump always takes credit for stuff he has nothing to do with. Maybe this is over the merger, but Trump already got his pound of flesh with 60 minutes. Even if Kamala would have won, the networks would have had to make a tough decision on how they handle late night TV between the salaries they are paying and the fact that ratings have consistently dropped over the hey day of late night TV many years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if Kimmel is next and that simply has to do with the fact that his contract is up. His only saving grace may be that Colbert is gone.
-
It's the timing, I don't think it had anything to do with Trump. All three networks made a play at late night after the Leno/Letterman era and yes Colbert arguably is the best rated now, but shares continue to slip due to the greater competition, plus now you compete with cable news who puts more effort into their late night shows, and cutting the cord. Plus Fallon is signed for multiple years still. I probably would have guess Kimmel would be the one left out and he still may be as well.
-
Imo, he's trying to hide the fact he didn't know crap, but talked authoritatively that there was "big stuff" in the files. They are the dog that caught the car and now has no idea what to do.
-
Sounds like you're one of those crazy 4th amendment advocates.
-
Oh, than let me fix your previous statement now that I have clarification.
