  1. I keep on trying to write a response to this but I feel like it sounds like i'm trying to snag you in a 'gotcha' or sounds condescending which is not what i'm trying to do, but based on some of the different things I mentioned, the burning down of a police station doesn't jog your memory? I assumed LW folks would know all about it as it's often claimed that it was burned down by a Boogaloo boy (which one of the many found and charged was in fact). Specifically I was referring to the peaceful protests In Minneapolis as part of BLM. You know, the protests so incredibly peaceful that Covid couldn't even spread in them and at the same time Democratic leaders were telling people to they should stay in their house if at all possible to help contain the spread, they encouraged folks to march, even as we saw mass destruction happen in inner cities across the nation. BLM protests costs - 1 to 2 billion, most of that incurred in the poorest and largely minority communities. Freedom trucker costs - I heard an estimated 300 million for the automakers, an effect that will hurt their shareholders and mostly white, but all middle class autoworkers. In true fashion, dems blast one set, while encouraging the other while they have the gall to say they are the only party that cares about minorities.
  2. To go further, please don't even think i'm saying what they are doing is right. They obviously feel strongly enough about what's going on in their country with restrictions that they feel it's worthwhile, but I'm not saying that. If someone jumped into the first truck in line and honked the horn as they sped through to the US side to help deliver something that would help me not be inconvenienced, I would have been more than willing to look the other way. Trust me, there is no moral barometer on my end with this. I'm just surprised by the vast different way it's being portrayed by the media than with some other recent protests which were quite costly as well.
  3. You guys love going back to the Occupy Wall Street, conveniently leaving out taking over an entire few blocks in a city or burning down a police station, just more 'peaceful' protests. And again, you seem to think I'm saying truckers have the right to occupy an international border crossing. I'm saying they have a right to peacefully protest, but if they break laws in doing that, they are weighing the risk of what may happen to them from a legal standpoint.
  4. Is it not? Again, you guys are determining the value of the protest based on if you feel it's appropriate or not. I'm just saying it's a peaceful protest, that part is the same.
  5. My guess is the trespassing ticket isn't as bad as impeding and points on your license, especially if you're a trucker, but again, you guys are the ones ranking it. If there is something you want to peacefully protest, are there set guidelines out there on what is/isn't an acceptable form of breaking the law in order to disrupt folks and highlight your cause? Camping in a park - OK, Taking over a few city blocks - ok, burning down a police precinct - ok, shutting down traffic - ok, shutting down international traffic - not ok?
  6. You guys are the ones ranking the comparisons. You guys are doing that in order to justify your hypocrisy as that allows you to differentiate one over the other. A union that manages to get a plant shut down, you're seriously going to tell me that you're not on board with that? Occupying a park (Occupy Wall Street), shutting down a road (Freedom Truckers and BLM), occupying a downtown area (Seattle), all of these things are illegal and the government has means to deal with it, but it still puts pressure on the government. Civil Rights and sit-in's were no different. The idea and hope of those doing it is that the disruption will change people's minds. It has been wildly successful in some aspects, not so much in others. It usually has the support of the party that agrees with the protesters, and is condemned by those that oppose those ideas. This is no different. If the same folks were doing the same thing but the message was that Canadians weren't going to allow trade with the US until the US adopted more Canadian like Covid policies, most of you would be cheering it on.
  7. So another words, they can still get arrested and charged, they would just need to prove they felt they were under threat. Hmm, seems like we have laws on the books already for similar issues, where if you feel threatened you can defend yourself.
  8. Ahh yes, protests that are for something I care about - feel free to shut the world down and make everyone take notice! But if I don't agree with it, criticize them for getting in the way. Truly the American (and now Canadian) way! Can you tell me which states allow people to run over protesters?
  9. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-60383385 That's the way to deal with these folks. F' them and all the trouble they have caused. I hope the US implements something like this so I never have to be inconvenienced by a protest either. BLM, and Occupy Wall Street protests would have never been so prolonged. Well, BLM at least, the Occupy folks already lost all of their money anyway to the folks they were protesting, but still it may have had some impact. That happens, maybe we don't see 1/6 either.
  10. I meant to point out I simply heard it from his show for full transparency, he was pulling from a source which I'm assuming he mentioned but I didn't grab. If Maddow references a Reuters story, i'm going to trust data she pulls out of it, but yeah, I may question her spin on it. You can confirm the quote portion directly from Abrams instragram. Overall, it probably isn't that big of an issue, but it will definitely be used against her.
  11. Most, but not all. Last time I saw a majority really didn't like Russia, but I don't think it was even 60%. Imagine having a country that isn't only openly hostile to you, but has actually invaded and taken parts of your country just recently and 40% are like, yeah, IDK, whatever.
  12. You can argue what you feel I'm trying to say, but this exchange is a joke. "This comes from intelligence information that has been declassified" Then he states the evidence is him simply stating it and says he can print out the transcription of the meeting as evidence. Ridiculous.
  13. You know I wasn't happy with how we got out of Afghanistan, but i've been vocal that I was happy we did get out. But look at the criticism that many on the left fought against in terms of Biden's handling of getting out of Afghanistan. The war hawks came out in force, and while they made some legitimate points, they overran MSM. If you don't believe me, go back and look at pfife's posting during that time, his head nearly exploded. My concern is they are back and getting the full support of MSM to deliver a message that we need to stand up to Russia no matter the costs. That scares me and no one else seems concerned. Biden may not be the GOP, but it's not like the democrats fought against the 'forever' wars we've been dealing with my adult life. So the fact that Biden publicly stated that the russian/germany pipeline would not be finished if they invaded was welcome news as it tends to show he's going to use economic weight to fight this, which I feel we're in a better position to do. That said, from MSM news you don't hear the fact that there isn't much value of us being involved in this matter nor some truth's which don't support us (promise regarding nato expansion, the fact that many Ukraine's feel like they are still apart of Russia, the fact that Ukraine itself felt we were exacerbating the issue).
  14. cool story
  15. I know, couple of compliments from you in just a few days. You like how I added that nugget of information about the election, as everyone wants to pretend Trump was the one that came up with stolen elections?
  16. I know most of you are all gung ho on heading into Ukraine and fighting at all costs, but listen to this spin before you agree to it.
  17. idk, right?
  18. But that's the thing, you and I pay attention to those specifics. The average person is upset by the things Trump does, but is also upset at the hypocrisy from the left, and then vote based on the fact that whatever is happening now, is worse than it was before.
  19. I've been busy lately and haven't paid attention to news, but catching up and Saager Enjati is reporting that Abrams specifically stated that everyone needed to be masked before she would enter. Add to the fact that now she's throwing out the race card, "It was shameful how republicans have used black history month reading event to fuel a pitiful and predictable critique." This isn't going to help her win governorship. Like Trump, she still has an outside chance that the courts rule the previous election was stolen from her and she gets to ascend to the throne. Source
  20. Absolutely. And to draw the line a bit more succinctly: - Bernie Sanders hated big Pharma. - Joe Rogan supported Sanders views. - Big Pharma is now the hero. - Joe Rogan didn't change his position, so he's a Trump lover and needs to be shut up.
  21. As someone that believes if you want to win, you win the folks in the middle, this GOP disarray might be the best thing for them. I doubt your vote will be swayed and I really can't think of any GOP candidates i'd vote for at this time as my requirement is basically they need to be vocal in their disowning of Trump. But with that, folks in the middle, the ones that tend to blame who is in charge regardless, seeing the civil war within the GOP might make them think that the GOP realizes it went to far in support of Trump.
  22. If it's that long, there should be an honor system where you find someone in line voting the opposite of you, you handshake on it, and leave. Recent episode of Curb your Enthusiasm with this was great.
  23. Granted not from the senate, but Rep Ro Khanna stated a few days ago that there are already 60 votes in the Senate for the Electoral act and it will be passed before the mid-terms. Now a voting rights act, there isn't bipartisanship on it, but I wish they would just pass some blanket law. In the name of coming together, just model the new law on New York's, that way Georgia gets more restrictive voting they even have now in the name of security, but Democrats feel good about saving democracy.
  24. I'm 'meh' with this album. Her debut album was really good, the follow up was decent. Check out her leading the band Buffalo Clover, that was fantastic.
