  1. He is a good standup. The fact that this new boba fett series basically starts out from an unscripted riff he did on parks and rec is fantastic. I was referring to his backtracking when someone challenges him though. Might just be the worst possible 'friend' you could have.
  2. Ted Cruz, the Patton Oswalt of politics.
  3. Operation Warp Speed, IMO, was the 'deep state' Trump bashed the entire time he was in office. A group of long time government workers and then their agencies that got high enough approval to go find a solution to any issues arise as companies try and develop the vaccine. Trump deserves credit for backing it, but i'd like to think if my 17 year old was faced with the issues we had going on at the time, and a bunch of CEO's along with health care experts explaining to him how important this was and that they need cooperation, he would have backed it too. This worked despite Trump being president, not because of Trump being president. It's a crazy world. Youngkin got railed over the I-95 debacle. Best tweet I saw went off on him, then someone replied how Northam was still Gov, A little later the same women tweets how the response from Northam in dealing with I-95 was fantastic. Pfizer built on years and years of US research funding though. Add in that Warp Speed did more than just supply money, but worked with companies to deal with any type of issue they may encounter related to the development, production, and shipping of these vaccines. One could argue that Truman, and every president since, deserves some credit.
  4. I'm glad nothing I say is a concern to you. Stick around then as this is a good place for you as within a few months, a few of these Trump wanna-be's will get banned (probably rightly so) and you can place an ignore on me and get all the information that matches your existing ideology spoon fed to you. Taking my wife, who we had no idea of what was going on and add on her health issues over the years, into the hospital was a little scary to say the least. Of course, never expected that they actual Covid shot itself was part of the reason why were were there. I don't know how she didn't get it while there.
  5. Please note i'm not saying Biden should have recognized it as a problem and fixed it overnight. I'm not sure if anyone can fix it in this climate. I guess i'll point to Whitmer as an example. Very vocal and in front of everything, even at a national level early on. For those that argued that it didn't look like it affected kids (and schools should be open) or those that felt the proposed solutions to deal with Covid actually hurt Americans more in terms of other means (jobs/economy/mental health), she was all to willing, as with all dems, to ridicule and claim she 'follows science'. I've been vocal that I agreed with her that it was better to error on the side of caution. But as this last year continued to show trouble with how we were dealing with this, she's disappeared. I had health issues with my family, so maybe I was still wanting to be a little overly cautious, but you couldn't get anything out of Whitmer outside of initially where she'd mislead about the GOP for stripping her of her power. Then she went radio silent. Looking back at it now, I think she realized before the media started to realize just how damaging not having kids in school was. I think she probably was seeing the science which indicated it was safe for them to go back. And for those in the community that were still at risk to it, they had access to a vaccine if they wanted it. But from being so vocal initially, how can she come out and be so forceful to get kids back to school, especially when teacher unions were still hesitant. Even worse, it could look like she is admitting a mistake. So, instead of being vocal, up front, informing folks about the science involved, showing she's willing to change based on current evidence, she chose to sit tight. Covid goes south again, she knows the Dems will blame Trump, if it clears up, she'll ride with Biden on the "you're welcome" tour. And what came from doing nothing, you have a group that chooses to error on the side of caution with absolutely everything, even when there is no science to support some of those decisions under the umbrella of 'we follow science' and we have another group that see's some of that extreme caution, sees the science that shows how uncalled for it is, and uses that to deepen their own flawed outlook.
  6. I agree to a point, but again, this is overkill. The people at risk in your story are vaccinated. The flu is literally more deadly than Covid for the infant. I'm not saying Covid is just like the Flu, but for children we have data now showing it's not an issue. Do these parents ever put their kid in a car? If so, might be time to call CPS. https://www.vox.com/22699019/covid-19-children-kids-risk-hospitalization-death
  7. The playbook was still in play, it's not like Trump threw it in the trash. The team tasked with putting it together was no longer a team though. Part of the issue is that Trump didn't follow it exactly, I don't know enough about it, but there might be a valid argument that there wasn't a team to continue to update it. As for Biden though, I'm tired of hearing the 'huge mess' he had to clean up. While true, it's morphed into an excuse. This board likes to crap on DeSantis (and there are some legitimate reasons why), but when it comes to Florida death rate versus other states, most on this board will keep throwing things at the board about why it makes sense Florida's numbers look good up against Michigan and other blue states until they feel something sticks. It's time to stop doing that with Biden too. He walked in with a vaccine in hand. His own VP (prior to being the VP) called the vaccine 'Trump's vaccine' and initially stated she may not take it. Cuomo, the left's darling early on said he wouldn't trust the federal government's say on when it's ready. Pelosi, who never said anything inaccurate, consistently indicated that a rushed vaccine isn't good but rather one that goes through the normal channels. Senator Kennedy continues to say that same thing and people want him thrown off of Twitter (probably has been already). There are quite a few of you on this page that occasionally like to show a bar chart with each of the past X presidents under it and it shows how much the debt went up/down for each president. That's all the proof you need to determine which party is the best at handling the economy. Well, only two presidents that dealt with Covid, the one with the vaccine actually has the higher death count. Case closed, amirite? The federal response in regards to testing has been atrocious. The CDC and the White House can't even get on the same page. There is a legitimate issue with a large portion that won't get vaccinated and most of that blame lays with the right, but it's not like the left is actively trying to find a way quell some of the polarization that led to this point.
  8. Dr called today, after consulting with all the different doctors involved in my wife's care for the last few weeks, everything points to Serum Syndrome which they suspect came on due to my wife getting both the Covid and Flu shot at the same time. She gets to have an Epi pen with her always now and the allergist needs to be consulted for any future shots.
  9. Granted I don't know the medical situation of all involved here, but damn this sounds like overkill from what I suspect are 'follow the science' type folks.
  10. I don't see it, she strikes me as one of those politicians that wants to do their job rather than get media attention. No room for her on the national stage.
  11. Legitimately, I guess so. But I am pretty sure she is eligible. Trying to think how, but i'd think there would be a means for her to get it to the courts early in the process.
  12. I feel like he could still be viable, but I agree he would need to harden up a bit. I listened to some folks talk about some recent doc that came out on him and I was a little soured by the idea that it's really all about power for him. But then I take a step back and realize that's all we have to chose from because who in their right mind would be a politician. Certainly my favorite, but completely agree. No one knows what her stance on anything is because she's been hiding for about a year now. Publicly about the only thing you'll hear her say is that the vaccinations work and she urges everyone to get one. Polis made some waves recently somewhat declaring Colorado is done with Covid. Seems to be center right and fits one of the necessary boxes for a Dem (he's gay), but he's also rich and jewish.
  13. I'll use that defense with my wife. I expect her to come back with something like she'd buy that if I was saying 'Myers' vs what I say 'Mires'.
  14. Turns out the vaccines may have played a part in my wife's recent ER/hospitalization. They initially said allergic reaction and it seems they are leaning back towards that again as other things come back negative. For anyone with auto-immune diseases, make a mental note to ask your doctor if you are good with stacking vaccines together (covid/flu for my wife) or spacing them out. Current thinking is she had an allergic reaction to something and since her immune system was on overdrive building up the immunity to the vaccines, it overcompensated to deal with the allergy.
  15. Dude, up until the last few weeks, Covid was not an issue in Florida, but one could argue that as there hasn't been any federal oversight to help gets tests out, responsible states bought up what they could, and yes, they eventually expire. I believe it was Abbot labs that the left complained about as they laid off an entire factory soon after the vaccine rollout started, but only after having folks destroy the remaining inventory as they couldn't find anyone to buy them. Biden completely dropped the ball on testing. But since Biden says the solution can't be found at the federal level, I guess we do have to blame the governors now. I live in Michigan and can't find any tests. I had to stand outside for 2 hours with my daughter a few days ago in order to get tested so she could go back to school. Do I blame DeSantis too?
  16. So, do people drive Fords or a just a Ford? Obviously they work at Fords. My wife complains when I say Meijers and has my kids joining in on mocking me, which is stupid on their part, because we all know it's Meijers. I've always just assumed they kept the S off to save money and in turn, share those savings with the customer. That's how I want to believe Fred Meijer would have handled it.
  17. First time sitting down with my son doing common core math and I read the explanation and was lost, then looked at the example and thought 'oh shit, this is how I always did it in my head and then had to fudge some numbers on the worksheet in order to get credit for it'.
  18. IDK, I feel like there is a spotlight on me when I use speech to text. I'm driving in my car and want to text my wife "don't worry about dinner, i'll take care of it' and it comes out like "ahh, hey hun, don't worry about dinner. I , ahh, I'm not really sure but i'll umm, we have that pork loin, I mean......" Then I just wait for Siri to say if she should send it and I say no.
  19. Who takes the time to pull up the calculator app anyway? Stop living in 2019, boomer. "Alexa, what is 137 x 18?"
  20. I feel like this is the Dem's version of 'build the wall'. Would there be some benefit from this, probably greater than null, but the return on investment would be atrocious. I have a one step process to fix government. On paper, it's simple, in theory though.... - Find a revenue producing investigative journalism business model at local, state, and countrywide levels.
  21. Fixed that for you.
  22. Mods, can we get this thread shut down and maybe see out give Early an early exit? I just read the article, it's a terrible story, but how it was presented here, clearly points towards an attempt to divide.
  23. We were notified that my SIL tested positive for Covid and my BIL/SIL were at our house for a week over the holidays. No rapid tests anywhere (thanks Biden) so we went up to a local center that does it for our school district. Ended up in line for 2 hours with a guy behind us. He was in his 70's and I had to listen to him talk about "Babblin' Biden" and "Kooky Kamala", he had one for Blinken as well, but I can't remember it. He fought for this country, but is saddened that he defended a country that has become socialist. Since he retired, he says he spends a ton of time on Facebook. He described it as 'fun', which I took as getting into groups that are feeding his views with memes. I finally got him off of politics and it turns out he's retired from Chrysler, big union guy, and upset that the union isn't as strong as it used to be. I can't help but believe he voted D his entire life, retired and fell into Facebook as Trump came along.
  24. MB, you need to get back on your aunt's FB and share some more of those. That's gold.
  25. The fact she ripped off some big names is probably the reason it's so big. I don't think they've tied any deaths to her, but I wouldn't be surprised if it at least hastened someone's death. In short, many doctors were treating their patients in part by what they believed to be accurate blood tests, only to find out years later that they weren't real at all.
