  1. If other teams have a similar outlook, he might not command enough to make it worth moving him. Still only 25, I think he’ll hold up for his remaining years of control. The bigger question is whether we eventually extend him.
  2. Technically it didn’t start out as a pennant race, but those guys helped turn it into one.
  3. I suspect Urquidy will be in the mix nest season. His contract is only $4M in ‘26– a bargain compared to recent lottery picks, Maeda and Cobb.
  4. Lighten up, Echos.
  5. Soto, too, to the Yankees.
  6. A 2027 rotation of Skubal, Jobe, Melton, Olsen and anyone else could be very good.
  7. The comp is probably Scherzer, who was elite with the Tigers, but not long enough to have the lasting connection. Skubal has been better and nationally associated with the Tigers, but if he signs for 8-10 years with a new team, they will become who he is identified with. And I’m not convinced Verlander goes in as a Tiger.
  8. The Godfather offers don’t seem to pan out for pitchers. Keep him, sign him or take the draft comp. Or, if we’re not in playoff contention, then consider moving him at the deadline. I would not trade him this offseason.
  9. As a reminder, Riley turned 25 last month. Hope you all sent cards.
  10. A lost season for hm.
  11. Ha—he’s not going anywhere.
  12. Bears repeating. Two LH hitters were due up.
  13. Is Hurter really that bad?
  14. Maybe Jack knew what he was doing. Take the bat out of their two best hitters hands. Genius move!
  15. I wish Flaherty would at least make it look like he cares.
  16. One thing I’ve learned this series is that Mariners fans are the biggest dorks of any professional or college team.
  17. I’d rather have Wenceel in the lineup than Colt.
  18. It clearly hit the bat first, but even if it hadn’t, seems odd that you call a HBP when the batter squares up on the pitch.
  19. Wow—they missed it.
  20. Have to feel good about Melton and Montero being contributors next season. Pitching in a playoff series (and elimination game) is huge for them.
  21. I hate him. Looks like a dickhead.
  22. You just made my point for me. If they decide to trade him, it will be this offseason. I doubt they’ll let he and Skubal both walk.
  23. Mize is a free agent at the end of ‘26. He probably has more trade value this offseason than risking his performance next season and getting little at the deadline. Plus, it does seem like the relationship is a bit strained. He would need to be replaced, but I would not be shocked to see him dealt.
  24. A lot of it is reaction time—given the proximity to the plate, ball can come at you fast. Also, the only infield position where you can field the ball and not have first base in view, often requiring the pitcher to turn around to make a throw. Of course the Philly pitcher just didn’t execute, which happens to everyone. Just the most inopportune time.
  25. Have to upgrade the offense somewhere. Greene (LF), Dingler (C), Keith (2B), Carpenter (RF/DH) seem fairly safe bets. I would guess that Baez (SS) is safe, too, until McGonigle is ready. I doubt they would upgrade there. I’d put Tork (1B) and Meadows (CF) as likely, but vulnerable to an external upgrade. The obvious positions to upgrade and bring in new talent are 3B and RF/DH, again. Also, probably a good reason that we held on to our position prospects who could be banging on the door next season, including Malloy, Jung, Anderson and Lee. Will Harris largely run back this combination of options or seek other help?
