  1. I don’t disagree, especially with your second point. Most guys have a track record—the unknowns are Tork, Greene and Rogers. It’s not inconceivable that this lineup could have a big turnaround with better coaching.
  2. Might be our only option, but we’ll largely end up with the same lineup next season, with potential upgrades at C and one of the corner OF spots. We’d basically be betting on improvements from everyone who underperformed.
  3. can we all agree to never use the term "sexy" here, unless it is being used in reference to a player's wife or girlfriend? thanks in advance.
  4. anyone wonder if Scott Harris is thinking, "what in the hell did I just get myself into"? Or is he just a masochist?
  5. I'm more concerned with who is going to pitch the garbage innings if we get rid of both Harold and Kody.
  6. this should be a rich (relative, I know) crop of Rule 5 players given that the draft didn't happen last year, so this is essentially two years worth of potential players in the pool.
  7. only Tiger fans would care about this. Our next fascination?: Selections and appetizer recipes for everyone's Rule 5 party.
  8. Agree. His last name is literally a typo—really sloppy.
  9. I only listed those guys as examples. I agree that there are others more deserving of being cut, if necessary. But if pressed, Willi and Tyler are easily expendable. And please don’t start a response with “Ummm.” Comes off incredibly condescending (and we had made so much progress together lately).
  10. factoring in to these decisions around Tyler, Willi, Harold, etc... is less about their contributions, but instead that they are taking up a 40 man roster spot, making other prospects vulnerable in the Rule 5. Ultimately, we might end up picking up players of their ilk later on, but we should not put any prospects at risk for players who are easily replaceable.
  11. I think you get your wish—I believe players need to be added to the 40 man today, which might impact the Castro Bros and others. Will be interested in what they do with Tyler Alexander—he must be on the bubble.
  12. Age 28. 1,200 career AB’s. Wouldn’t take a walk. Adventures in the OF. 6’ 5” with no power. Time to move on.
  13. I could see him coming for what he believes is his last season, when options are more limited. Of course by then, hopefully, we might not have the need. Best case is a Kenny Rogers situation. But you’re right, all ties will be gone—Cabrera is the last connection.
  14. If I’m picking unsung ‘84 Tigers, I’m going with Rusty Kuntz, Rupert Jones, Johnny Grubb and Doug Bair.
  15. This is true. Would rather protect/select guys who will be longer term options.
  16. I’d like to see Harold return—LH bat who can play fill in many places. I like him as a pinch hitter. 150 AB’s. Not much more.
  17. Right. I’ll actually be concerned if we try and re-sign him, unless we’re concerned about our OF depth at Toledo.
  18. Agree. Just unsuccessfully.
  19. This. Here’s a more recent picture of Jeff:
  20. I could see Powers as Tigers GM—would be a promotion.
  21. I’m sure James Click wants a job similar to Scott Harris vs. working for him.
  22. Think you meant “two many castros…”
  23. And any chances that Hulu picks up their sitcom pilot, featuring the wacky hijinks of a couple of utility guys thrust into being full-time players.
  24. I can’t imagine we’re done clearing guys out. That means you, Castro Boys!
