I was a very junior advertising grunt at one of the bigger ad agencies in Detroit. My client was a sponsor of the Tigers radio broadcast and I had Rick Rizzs call me asking if he could do commercial work, in exchange for a car. I was excited and starstruck until he basically started stalking me after that. Seemed like a nice dude, though, and he eventually respectfully honored the restraining order I filed against him.

I heard the bigger issue was that he didn’t always wash his hands after using the restroom.

I’m working on this.

My comment wasn’t meant as a commentary on his acquisition, but a desperate plea for a cheap laugh.

A bit of an overreaction, but, yes, this team will not get fixed this sole offseason. I’m not going to worry until we get to spring training and no other moves have been made. I doubt that happens. We’ll pick from the second tier of free agents and hopefully make a trade or two. Any improvement, though, will come mostly from our own player development. Fingers crossed.

This is the first players market in a while—teams are spending recklessly. Less than ideal for the Tigers.

At the risk of being a conspiracy guy, is there any chance that the Tigers and/or Comerica Park were subjected to a deader ball more often? It would make some sense out of the entire lineup underperforming all at the same time.

I don't think they've adjusted the timing--I believe it is still tied to All-Star game weekend.

I doubt the Tigers are in on any of the big guys. Once that dust settles, we’ll likely add a Wil Myers-type.

barring injuries, I think there is a good chance we see most of the guys you mentioned. We still have a bunch of question marks in our current rotation--I'm not counting on Skubal at all, Turnbull's recovery seems to have gone slowly and Manning seems as fragile as a china doll. I'd feel better if we signed another SP to provide some insurance.

Anything with Bill Schallert in it is pure gold.

Harris seems to be a close-to-the-vest guy. Haven't heard a peep including the Tigers, but most of the speculation is around the bigger free agents, which I suspect we're not going to be in on.
