  1. considered it, but decided that his impending TJ surgery would delay that.
  2. ha--almost put Nevin in at 3B, but he might not make it to next week in order to make room for the next waiver wire acquisition.
  3. this seems like a bit of an extreme over-correction--Hamlin's injury was horrific, but I don't think it would have been impacted differently based on the number of days in between games. I agree that 3 days rest is less than ideal, and that's what they should be working to minimize through better scheduling. If they were willing to distribute the national games more evenly amongst all teams, then they could schedule a BYE week adjacent to a Thursday night game. However, I don't seem them doing that.
  4. If they feel a need to play the game, they could give them their own weekend to do it. Push the playoffs back a week—there is no need to have two weeks between the conference finals and the Super Bowl—one week would suffice.
  5. Ha. At least it was successful in driving forum engagement. Yes, of course there will be numerous transactions that will ultimately impact what the team looks like in 2025. This is strictly looking at the positional depth of the current organization, similar to what Baseball America does in their annual team reviews. I apologize for all of the angst and sadness my post caused. Moving forward I’ll try and post on more realistic topics, like relegation in MLB.
  6. In an ideal world, here is your 2025 team (assumes no external acquisitions): C Dingler/Rogers 1B Torkelson 2B W. Perez SS J. Baez 3B Keith LF Malloy CF Greene RF Carpenter DH Jung SP Skubal SP Mize SP ERod SP Turnbull SP Manning Pen: Lange, Madden Wentz, Dylan Smith, Vest, Flores, Olson Sorry, I’m bored.
  7. Segura signing would have bummed me out.
  8. That’s logical, but I do think they would be motivated to spoil it for Aaron and the Packers.
  9. wouldn’t we rather have our Lions play in Green Bay during the day? Probably drops 10 degrees at night and our team isn’t conditioned to playing in bad/really cold weather like the Pack is used to. or, over-thinking it?
  10. Plenty more Tyler Nevins to be had.
  11. Nice to see the negativity being spread around in LP’s absence. Ill play the wide-eyed optimist—Lions score at least twice before the half.
  12. Bold predictions for overall record with two months of offseason to go.
  13. My 2023 Detroit Tigers Goals -Bounce-back seasons for Baez, ERod, Meadows and Turnbull -Greene and Tork make significant progress from their disastrous debuts. -Skubal is able to pitch at some point. -Manning and Wentz stay healthy all season and have productive seasons. -Soto establishes some trade value and is dealt at the deadline for a good prospect(s). -Malloy and Wenceel rake at Toledo and are called up at some point. -Jake Rogers earns the majority of playing time at C. -We find out what we have in Baddoo, Carpenter and Kreidler and are willing to move on depending on their performance (I’m not counting on any of them). -Draft the best position player available with our 3rd pick.
  14. Everyone still hungover? We have a game in less than 90 minutes!
  15. Stroud redeeming himself after the clunker against Michigan.
  16. Nice to see Harris working hard on New Year’s Eve—that will endear him to baby Ilitch. But not with Mrs. Harris.
  17. Glad I put off getting a Logue jersey.
  18. But who’s going to do Lion King with Miggy? Kreidler is too tall.
  19. Max Duggan?
  20. A very poor man’s Ohtani. Harold actually makes sense on this team. LH bat, who can fill in at 1B, 2B and 3B and pinch-hit. Just don’t give him more than 200 AB’s.
  21. I think they have Cronenworth scheduled to play at 1B. Even the Padres can’t afford to pay every position player $20M+.
  22. I think the frustration is that fans like to see transactions, just for the sake of making them. That's what makes the offseason more palatable. The guy's hands are tied--we really don't have many players with trade value. I would be onboard with moving some of our young pitchers, i.e., Jobe, Madden, etc..if we can get a position player who is major league ready and can contribute in the long term. Honestly, I wish we had made a few of those moves when Tork, Mize, etc... were in the minors and their trade value was sky high. It's hindsight now, but I don't think we should be shy about moving a prospect if it will help us in other areas. I agree that we need to give Harris some time. Like it or not, this is a 3 year plan now (at least).
