  1. To add to all of the great news of the day, none of the minor league teams lost today.
  2. Scoreboard watching in May is the sign of a good season.
  3. The good news: Tigers win against a good team, Montero provides 5 shutout innings, clutch hit by Riley, good all-around game by Tork, save from Vest, nice tribute to our fallen soldiers. The not-great news: Bullpen notches one K in 4 innings, Holton looks broken, offense needs a jolt.
  4. The reality is that acquiring Skenes would make the Tigers that much more formidable in a playoff. Running Skubal, Skenes and Mize out would be very strong. And Skenes protects for when Skubal likely leaves in free agency.
  5. As much as I bemoan the current pen, help could be coming. SGL might be effective in relief, and if Cobb is ever able to make it back, he could push Jobe to the pen in an effort to limit his innings this season.
  6. If Rainer could finish the season with West Michigan, that would be awesome. Same with Clark and McGonigle in Erie.
  7. The inability of anyone in our pen to get a K is troubling. Vest is closest, but should be a setup guy.
  8. I honestly don’t know how the Indians had a negative run differential coming into this series. They look so much more complete than we do.
  9. We were gifted Herrin and didn’t take advantage. Now we get Clase. And they get Brebbia
  10. Would we pinch hit Dingler for Rogers?
  11. Let’s hope we add a couple of bullpen pieces by then. They have a big edge there.
  12. Benetti is significantly better on a National broadcast. Much less silliness.
  13. I would trade Max Clark, Jace Jung, Jaden Hamm and Owen Hall for Skenes.
  14. I can already identify a few pumpkins in the pen.
  15. I like to exalt “Franyerber!” every time something good happens to me. Which is to say I rarely speak it.
  16. As bad as the recent Tigers teams have been, many of us have lived through stretches of dominance and success. This is all new for the Lions. Also, the NFL is significantly more popular than MLB (or any other sport), so that factors in.
  17. Unpopular opinion. The female Cards personality is an improvement over Natalie Kerwin.
  18. We have 32 wins. No other team in MLB has 30 yet.
  19. The Cardinals did to us what we’ve been doing to everyone else.
  20. I’d like another crack at the Dodgers. They had already played a few, real games prior.
  21. I have a 4.5 hour commute back and forth every week from Chicago to Detroit, so podcasts are a welcome distraction.
  22. Agree. His inclusion actually makes Kieran palatable. It’s got to the point that the only listenable Tigers pod is the one with Tony Paul. My assessment: Scott Bentley—hard to listen to. Was much better when it was Chris Castellani. Evan Petzold and Mark G: have the best guests, but Mark is completely unlikable and Evan sounds like a 10-year old lapdog. All he does is recite stats. It’s actually comical how often he rattles off numbers, no matter what he’s referencing. Rogellio and Chris: Chris seems knowledgeable, but his delivery comes across a bit douchy. Rogellio reminds me of the Chris Farley talk show bit from SNL. He mispronounces every name and is constantly fumbling. Probably should be a producer or work behind the scenes. Pat Caputo —not a dedicated Tigers podcast, but he covers them. He has really slipped into old guy caricature—a shame because I liked him previously on the radio. Dickerson and Benetti—both are good, but not a fan of the pod structure. Too much human interest, very little actual Tigers analysis. Any others that you’re listening to? I desperately would like to find a good one.
