I missed the full list, but was in person for #1 (Maggs walkoff HR) and #3 (Miggy’s 3K hit).
Other notables at CoPa: CoPa opener, Weaver vs Guillen, Austin Jackson traded during the game.
The reason he can call them old friends is because he’s never critical of a player. I suppose you have to play nice with the current team in order to have access.
But, old friends? Clearly doesn’t want to ever burn a bridge.
I’ve been to two in person (US Cellular Field-White Sox and Comerica Park). Way more fun to see in person. For Comerica, I was in LF bleachers when Bobby Abreu went off and hit a bunch there. Even ended up on the tee vee for a brief, shining moment.
Apples and oranges. Rainer can stick at SS—Lee likely 2B or 3B. I’d lump Lee with Jung, Keith. Maybe McGonigle, too, if they ultimately decide he’s not a SS.
I don’t want Clark or McGonigle dealt. I think they were both built for Comerica and are going to be special. Right behind them is Briceno, but apparently there might be some flaws in his game. A clear cut defensive position is certainly one.
Anyone else can be had—and our top 10-15 prospects are not fodder. We have depth we can trade from without compromising any sustained future success.
I think we’re giving too much credence to some ESPN slappy who is just throwing out ideas for clicks/chatter. I suspect at least 75% of the folks in here are more qualified to put forward more thoughtful and realistic proposals.
