Mazda. I like it. We now have McStinky, Captain Jack and Mazda. And I guess Tork. Seriously Mazda pitched great in relief for the Dodgers and his velo in short relief should sustain year long. Could prolong his career as well.

Crazy thought but Maeda's strikeout #'s/9 seem to indicate possible late inning reliever if he can maintain 91-92. I think he could end up in short relief.

Ok then sure I agree but based on Rule # 5 how did Ty Cobb get in ? A question which brings us back to G2's point that contorversy will always apply.

If the Hall of Fame is based on performance on the field and only that then Pete Rose should be inducted. Morality is not part of the evaluation and if it was I am sure some now in would be excluded. I do not like Pete Rose but he is the all time hit leader and not in the Hall which doesn't make sense if your honoring accomplishments on the field.

I was a bit surprised when they resigned McStinky this off season and rationalized it as insurance for Baez's health because if ElMago can indeed play and Sweeny is the "starter" then where does McStinky's playing time come unless you cut Ibanez or demote Jung. This is even more tru if they want Tork to DH and have Carp in RF and Verling play some third. Of all the names just mentioned only McStinky and Baez are not long term high (potentially) ceiling players.And one makes $$$. But Hinch loves his utility knife and Harris hates losing"his guys" so we shall see.

So could we accept the salary for 2025 and 226 and St. Louis eats 2027 thus saving 24.7 and having our payroll clean for Skuball ?

What I see as the main problem with Bregman signing in Boston is we spent the whole off season wishing on one player and now the cubbard is bare and we still need another right-handed bat. I guess we are left with Torkelson at DH - Verling at 3B and Carpenter in RF which means our overall defense is going to be shaky. Jung can't play third base and obviously Harris knows that given the 7 yr offer. So we are back to playing players out of position or having spring tryouts for third base. The loss of Bregman is compounded by the lack of a true third baseman. Maybe Hau Yu Lee can play their base ? Circle back to Arenando ?

Speaking of Jeimer....Maeda (10 mil) for Jeimer (30 mil) + 5 mil for 2025 and 2026 for a total additional investment of 15 million for a switch hitting "third baseman" for two years......possible or just stupid ?

Getting Bregman at the beginning of the off season seemed very doubtful. getting Bregman on short term under 100 million contract still feels impossible to me. Then again I never dreamed we could get Captain Jack back for 45 million max. I'm with Mets owner Cohen . It's tiring.

Well said as usual. Perhaps other than "greedy" I should have said "dreamy' as in not allowing myself to dream it happening and then be disappointed. But yes as a fan and the true custodians of the Detroit baseball Club Harris/Ilitch as current managers are indeed obliged to present us owners with a winning team. Unfortunately it doesn't happen as much as we deserve.

Captain Jack is back !! and I love it !! I am guessing the Bregman deal is not happening so Harris correctly decided pitching would be even more important. I still think Grischuk would be good add with Verling playing third.
