  1. Strangely making the playoffs last year has forced Harris to accelerate his plan and he will only do that without ruining his game plan which is based on the next wave of minor leaguers, (his players), combined with the bounty he gets for Skubal and one year flips ( Cobb-Gleyber-Kahnle etc) plus the end of Javey's contract/reentering the free agent market. It's one year free agents hires, safe small trades and waiver pick ups until then. I'm ok with it as long as we are competitive most of the summer even falling short of the playoffs and the light at the end of the tunnel (minors) is getting very bright which it seems to be happening.
  2. Austin Hays..lefty basher..off the board for 5 million...Grisheck (sp?) still left and with Verling playing third he fits. F BreGGIe. Get Grisheck, reliever and Captain Jack ( short term) and lets go.
  3. "Tiger Hater" Keith Law has 7 tigers in his top 100 minor leaguers. Jayden Hamm at 93 is # 7.
  4. Should we consider a Kerry Carpenter for Issac Paredes trade ? Houston can then sign Bregman. We need a third baseman and Houston needs an outfielder. Kerry is cheaper and has one additional year of control. Thoughts ?
  5. Agree and that’s what I’m saying we can’t get the right price so the focus has changed. IMO.
  6. Thinking us being linked to relievers means we are out on Breggie.
  7. Seems high to me at this point. His medicals must be iffy. I would only go 2 years with an opt out.
  8. I think the Blue jays, long frustrated by failing to sign stars or win with their team, are about to do a late off season facelift. I see them trading Vladdy to the Mets and then signing both Alonzo and Bregman.
  9. Twofold. one Verlander probably would want control over that and secondly the potential fan backlash if we signed Verlander only to trade him four months later. IMO.
  10. It's easier to flip Cobb at the deadline than Verlander should the need arise. I also do not think Bregman will sign with us nor will Captain Jack unfortunately but it is also ok with me. I am hoping for Kirby Yates and Randal Grischuk so we have another closer/ back end reliever and platoon RHH that is good defensively.
  11. Reminds me of Keith Richard's comment when asked how he could be near bankruptcy after earning so much $ with the Stones " Well, he said, I spent quite a lot on drugs and women and wasted the rest ".
  12. I doubt Bregman will take any short term deal because he's 31 and coming out agin at 34 is not advantageous. And if he wanted a one year pillow then Comerica is not ideal. Santander isn't happening IMHO. Brace for someone like Austin Hays or Randal Grichuk , players who hit lefties well, cost less, and as spring training nears will be willing to accept a platoon role.
  13. Adames and Chapman pretty good left side of the infield.
  14. I heard somewhere that Lee seems to be injury prone or most seasons he spends prolonged time on the injured list.
  15. I agree with this plus without Bregman third base goes to Verling and Carpenter goes to RF opening up the DH for Tork.
  16. It's even more complicated when you look at the minor league players ascending quickly. Like moving Keith to first sounds good long term until you think of Bricenio who could maybe catch until you think of Lorenzo etc. Maybe a good problem ? Or too many musical chairs ?
  17. This is a solid if not spectacular signing by Harris. Torres is only 28, mashes lefties and is on a team friendly one year deal. He will be very motivated to do well hoping for a big payday next off season and will see lots of lefties being in our lefty dominated lineup. Win Win. Added benefit of moving Keith to first where many of us on the board thought he belonged in the first place though he did improve turning the DP significantly his range is bad. Although we may yearn for him watching Glayber field next year we will have a homegrown replacement for 2026. Lighting a fire under Tork should also be beneficial. He can DH where he belongs. Harris has proven to be a good and consistent doubles hitter but we are still waiting for and in need of some home runs from Scottie. I am confident he will deliver. We are in real good hands.
  18. I am thinking Breman ends up in Toronto a franchise as desperate to sign somebody as Bregman is to get a big contract. I think that his only shot for 200,000,000+ is Toronto.
  19. Lots of off-season left, but the lack of activity is getting a bit concerning the division is ours for the taking, but somebody needs to hit the mall from the right side of the plate and a strikeout bullpen arm wouldn’t be a bad thing to have either rinse and repeat and reserving the right to say this again in two weeks
  20. You like him for 7-8yrs 210/240 so 30/yr for seasons 31,32,33,34,35,36, 37/38 ?
