  1. Making a bad deal by "accepting" low returns only hinders all future trades. It's better to hold your ground and establish an understanding with your peers that you won't be a sap. That might be playing today as well. Harris has his desired return for Captain jack and won't settle. It might suck two years in a row but eventually teams will bargain in good faith instead of trying to rip off the new guy.

  3. I would rather Harris aim big late than settle small early. We don't need any Dawell Lugos'.
  4. 15 hours Scot. Need to make a play.
  5. Would we have been happy with the Astros deal for Jack ?
  6. Skubal will not be traded because only Jackson Holiday makes sense for us and Elias won't trade the number 1 rated prospect so it's stand off I believe. If Flathtery stays we might extend him. His quote "I have loved every second here" means he's open I think. Not Sure Harris is ready to pull off a $100 million plus deal yet though. It's safer to get the draft pick which Harris/Staff seem quite good at drafting. Probably crickets.
  7. Some thoughts on the trade : Two rule 5 guys next year that might be hard to protect. I thought he might be traded in tandem with Jack since he caught all his games Hard to trade catchers mid season since they are unfamiliar with the team’s pitching. Owen’s throws hard so that’s the one thing you can’t teach and Hicks bats lefty which is rare and plays some first base so a possible third catcher scenario. Harris took a throw away catcher and the team turned him into a decent backstop which players and draftees notice. He performed well for us and we got two potential players, granted not likely, so that’s a success in my book Jansen is a way better catcher than Kelly. He had underperformed and some might say Kelly has over performed. The Redsox know Jansen well and he has a much higher chance of impacting the race for Boston than Kelly had for Texas.
  8. Couldn't we have offered Tampa more than what the Cubs did for Issac ?
  9. Well one out of two isn’t bad. Thanks.
  10. Wasn’t that a good get ? He wasn’t a sure thing to sign if I remember correctly. any chance for the 16 th rounder Seibert ? Or was he just picked in case an earlier round didn’t sign ?
  11. Sounds about right. I know he’s connected to Detroit so I always think he has a scoop. I guess that’s why I notice him more.
  12. Does Morosi ever get anything right?
  13. Or find teams with excess players at positions you need for players you can part with similarly.
  14. Assuming Elias will not trade Holiday and therefore we have no deal with Baltimore for Skubal I would like to float out the following options and see what you folks think : 1. Flaherty to Baltimore for Dylan Beavers OF or Connor Norby 2B prefer Beavers 2. Flaherty to Philly for Aiden Miller SS or Starlyn Caba SS- prefer Miller 3.Flaherty to Yankees for Roderick Arias SS 4. Flaherty to Arizona for Tommy Troy SS 5. Flaherty to LA for Dalton Rushing C - my favorite trade for Captain Jack 6. Skubal - San Diego for Ethan Salas -C and Leodalis De Vries SS
  15. There are doubts Mayo can play third base. The Orioles see him as their next first baseman so alone kills the deal for me.
  16. I thought Keith had that. Breskie blows.
  17. The McStinky love continues...
  18. Because we actually played him enough to have reasonable read on his performance level.
  19. Did we sign the two important outstanding picks yet ? I think Swanson round 9 and the lefty supplemental Sch……. ?
  20. Can we evaluate on such a small sample size ? Probably as kids says. Agree not a solid looking outfielder but he did show a little with the bat.
  21. I for one am exhausted with what I feel is the over emphasis of platooning. McStinky in left field and bringing up Captain Bligh just because their lefties feels like a reach. Neither have and now or future in their game. Just let Ibanez and Verling play. They have a future with us.
  22. Erod has yet to pitch this season for the Diamondbacks due to injury. Not saying he's not hurt or taking the sloooow road back. He burned bridges in Detroit and Boston it seems as both teams made zero effort to sign him back in free agency. Harris probably had a good trade with LA versus no/bad trades with a team not on Rod's no trade list and when Rod and his agent verbally agreed he did not expect a last minute "stick up" for more $$. I applaud him for not mentioning this afterwards or complaining to the press. He acted very professionally. It's unfortunate but not his fault. Remember the LA GM Friedman also thought it was a done deal.
  23. Or protecting the asset your keeping and riding hard the one your not ?
