Starting pitching has been VERY expensive this off season so far yet starters are pitching fewer and fewer innings. That doesn't make sense. Are we at the peak of Starters pay without the Industry realizing the cost will drop in the years ahead ? Didn't the 2024 Tiger chaos provide a glimpse into the future ? Spending 200 million plus for pitching seems really old school. I wouldn't do it. Pitchers break and Starters innings are decreasing. The future is 4 to 5 innings and bringing pitchers to the show quickly and turning them over is it not ? If mid market teams are going to compete for players in free agency they need to budget their limited funds to position players and develop pitchers.

I think Harris would agree with you. He seems to only move if he feels the deal fits his check list. I suppose that's why this off season is slow since as the team improves it becomes harder to find deals.

I Loved watching Aurelio play. Just like you said he would just load up, wait and unload his cannon. What an impact him and Eddie Brinkman were on the left side of the diamond defensively. That McLain trade got us a great season in 1972 with them , Hondo and the aging stars from 1968. Maybe the best year of all with Billy Martin giving the Umpires hell. What fun.

So the Boston front office is against Bregman, Cashman has been calling Houston cheaters and NY insiders say no way on Bregman That leaves Houston who wants five years and Toronto. Would we then have a window at 7 years 189 and if so should we ?

So far this off season has me a bit bummed out.

True but we don’t have to trade him for an established third baseman. That can come in a separate deal. Maybe a real good pitching prospect equally rated.

If Ha-Seong-Kim's right arm heals 100 % and he can play short I would go four years for him since he could be our shortstop until McGonigle is ready and at worst be a super upgrade for McStinky. But will his arm heal ? If he an't play shortstop we do not need him. Again I see him returning to SD on a one year prove he's ok deal. Or LA snagging him.
