I want to apologize in advance to the board. I will be in attendance tonight so they will lose. I go every year they are in town and it’s been six years since I have seen a victory. Fingers crossed 🤞

As for the Harris podcast the question not answered for me is “ Why can’t we provide playing time for young players and still add more proven talent on short term contracts “. Why are the two mutually exclusive?
-
I think a potential Skubull trade would net more in the off season. I doubt we sign him. I think big big pitchers contracts are off limits in Harris thinking and agree.

Is it possible that Casey Mize actually turned a corner today after the first inning? He sure made a heck of an adjustment and the result was eye opening. I mean if he can get strike outs that’s like finding his holy grail isn’t it ?

Most of the stuff I read suggests separate deals net a bigger return. Plus Flaherty would appeal to winners and Tork to rebuilders but having said that say you want Baltimore's Colby Mayo you might get him if you add Tork since it replenishes their minors. Can't believe I mentioned Tork in that way. Just shows how much he has disappointed. A health Carp and producing Tork sure would change our discussions though ?

Hamm looks promising
-
Keith will hit and probably enough to play first base if his doesn’t improve. And I hope they keep Urshela next year instead of McStinky. At least until we have a proven third baseman.
-
It’s a thing now 😁😁
-
Oh goody McStinky is playing. I guess Kreidler's 20 AB's is enough for Hinch to evaluate but he still sees upside to the "golden switch hitter". And I am not saying Kreidler looks promising but if we are evaluating this year then shouldn't he play more than platooning against the rare lefty especially since we know FOR SURE McKinstry stinks ?

I have "no clue" but I get a sense that Chris I is a very hands off owner so that might not happen in Detroit unfortunately. He did sit through the Braves series in Atlanta but then I read he was there to visit an old college buddy not scout his team.

Buyers will wait for more sellers to enter the market and get a better idea who really has "it" going in 2024. Sellers will wait to avoid the pitch forks from their fans and alienation from their players.

More good points. Hope it works out at second. We certainly need some good breaks. -
2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion

Your eyes are way better than mine so I will defer to your better judgment but I see a good hitter there but a below average second sacker and I just defer to defense as a prerequisite to playing a position. I love clean baseball that compliments the pitchers and hate giving away outs especially not turning double plays. -
Seems much better than now doesn’t it ?
-
Absolutely not. Just need to change positions to maximize return or accept sub par play at second base diminishing his return. Of course he will improve some but do you want to build your infield knowing your not maximizing double plays and giving away outs ? I do think his bat will improve quite a bit though some will say not enough for first base. For me I won’t sacrifice defense because your diminishing your entire pitching staff. I am ok with an above average first baseman who runs well and has medium power. It’s above replacement by a couple ticks. Two war. I’ll take it.

2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion

Because he can’t play second base. -
Does that also apply to a 26 million guaranteed deal 🤔
-
Tork seems to be in a bad place mentally in regards to baseball. Living under the 1-1 pressure and now demoted twice after being brought up to early initially. He is a prime change of scenery guy. I think a trade to the west coast would be beneficial to him. Oakland would be ideal. Low pressure.

2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion

I think captain Jack is on pace for 5 to 6 years/ 140 to 150. I would trade him for sure. As for the kids I agree let's not trade Parades but I wouldn't promote anybody this year except for a September taste apart from Dingler if we trade Kelly. We're promoting too fast and it is now known that the jump from AAA it Comerica is very big. In fact I would send Keith and Malloy back to AAA and I would get Keith some reps at First Base as uncomfortable as it may be with Tork there. At lease allow Keith and Jung to work on their defense in the minors. Avila brought up Tork too soon and Harris did the same with Keith. Make them ripe before picking the vine. I would like to see Ibanez play second base everyday and try Holten in the starting rotation. -
2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion

I have been floating Skuball + for Jackson Holiday and Coby Mayo for some time now. Both are blocked in Baltimore and the new owner might overrule Elias for push. Heck I would add Flahtery for those two and rebuilding the left side of our infield. I am not trading Greene. He is becoming a star. Solid in left, runs well, decent power and good hitter. once his K's go down he could live in the .850 OPS land. -
Well we certainly weren't as good as we looked at the start of the season and I don't think we are as bad as we look now either. I think Harris is building toward a time when his last draft class is emerging and trying to see who from the current team fits with them. But I do think his plan took a turn downward with Tork, Meadows and Keith disappointing. The injury to Carpenter is hopefully another lesson learned ( like do not trust agents and players at the trade deadline) that depth is really really important. How Harris manages change, the challenge for all CEO's, will determine our fate. He has two big chips to spend in Flattery and Skubal and I hope he hits it out of the park.
-
Probably feels he needs to carry the team. Personally I can live with an high k rate if the OPS is north of .800
-
They play him in positions that he can play and let him hack ? Allow the athlete to emerge and relax his mind from thinking about controlling the zone or playing a position that he can not and therefore stresses over ?
-
Are now the US Postal Service mailing it in ?

Hinch’s obsession with McStinky in full throttle again. He doesn’t help us now or in the future yet he plays more and more because he’s lefty and fits Hinch’s need to mix and max. Driving me crazy 😜 Two years ago he was fourth on the team in AB’s. Please Scotty cut him.
