Maybe Hinch was trying to get that point across to Spencer" I trust my Swing" Torkelson. But I was surprised he pinch hit for Tork all the same. Heck it was his 2 run homer that kept us in the game. I don't see how broadcasting to the league a players weakness helps even though they all know that. A simple "I went with a hunch" reply was sufficient but Hinch never spares the opportunity to talk about how smart he is. I wonder how the clubhouse perceives that. But most likely nobody notices I guess.

This echos what I mentioned earlier. I remember after Harris traded for JHM he was quoted as saying "trades are hard" and for many PBA's who value (over value ? ) prospects it's that much harder. When the prospects are highly rated and performing well in the minors that is when they have value in trade but it's also when PBO's grip them tightly. I mean Jace Jung was once a tradable asset. Now he is close to DFA as someone here noted. So if you aren't trading from the minors your left with your major league players and it's often creating a new hole but filling an old one. But we are on the precipice . 2026 is close to going down the drain. The Cleveland Guardians are, to me, a very good Baseball team and have been overlooked. They have added 2 young players, solid bullpen, excellent defense and just enough offense and starting pitching to stay in games. Then there is their superstar third baseman who a true 5 Tool star. Our counter to the Indians is Skubal and his absence has sent us cratering.

I don't know if Harris has the nerve to move Skubal and who else brings back value ? Maybe Mize ? I like your idea of moving Green to first and extending him. I don't want to go through another rebuild...I'm too old for that. I was so happy watching them in SanDiego on opening day and floating on the drive back home. What happened ? How did out minor league system dry up at the same time ?

Perhaps the 2024 rebound was because the pressure was off thinking the season was over thus allowing them to play free and once they got rolling their confidence grew ? Or I could be spewing nonsense.

Does anyone here think that if Tork and Keith were playing for the Guardians or Brewers or Rays that they would be performing better ? Am I wrong to feel that way ? And McStinky must be injured to the point he can not play shortstop. No other reason Zack is here without his attack.

Does McStinky have an injury that prevents him from playing shortstop ? And Colt Keith is a DH only..and bat him first since he can't knock anyone home or until he does. But until the injured return we will have at least two black holes in the lineup.

Just don't turn him into Colt Keith . An infielder that can slug , run and play defense is mucho valuable. Yes 44% is crazy but 30% is ok with me if he slug 50 %. The Tigers have become too focused on OBP. It's important but IF you can Slug then let it rip. Leave the OBP to those without power.

Well those two are the most disappointing and I know Keith has a solid OBP which at least is something positive. I just do not understand how someone can hit a home run for five straight games and provide next to nothing over the other 40 games ? And looking at Keith you see someone who should be knocking down walls and his "hits" are like he's using a plastic bat. Keith is a beautifully wrapped birthday gift with a whoopee cushion inside. At least Hinch is using him as a DH only and batting him leadoff which is optimizing what little he offers.

Maybe the hitters are over coached ? Is that possible ? IDK

We have been playing bad baseball for many months despite a good playoff run but I do not think Hinch is the problem. At least not yet.

That was noted during the game. Coming into tonight Cleveland had the lowest first pitch swing percentage in baseball so knowing the Tigers would play to that they flipped the switch and swung early. And scored Big.

Yes not counting pitchers. At least in my estimation.

We just can't match up with Cleveland . It PAINS me to say but they do everything Hinch talks about being "The Tiger way". They work counts, have productive outs instead of striking out, pitch well enough and play real good defense. And they have a true superstar. Quietly they have two new young players and their dumpster shopping first baseman is better than our 1-1 disappointment. It's so FRUSTRATING.

That is great. I miss Taiwan. I had the pleasure of living there from 1984 to 1991 with a year home in 1987. The country transformed before my eyes. In 1984 a taxi would run the locals over to pick up a foreigner and by 1991 they were giving us the finger. Ha Ha..progress for sure. I love Taiwan.
