  1. That’s two consecutive optimistic posts and very appreciated. Considering how bad this year was we certainly are due for some good luck as G2 mentions and that’s a long list 84 has of players that should easily do better ? Really anxious for Harris to make his moves…
  2. Once upon a time GM's traded minor leaguers for major league talent often hyping their youngsters up to do so. Then a new type of analytical GM thought came to the fore and and teams started holding they minor league talent tightly; which did hinder Al's one lane approach to rebuilding. Now I sense emerging a reluctance from Mega deals that will begin to play out this off season as teams realize the damage they cause and the overall failure rate. Sure Mega stars that hugely impact both the Box office and build the brand will be an exception but overall teams will seek smaller commitments to maintain trade flexibility year to year. I could be wrong but looking at the teams that spend without reward it should leave a mark. Carlos Correa did not put the Twins over the top, Max's 45 million went up in smoke in Flushing, The Padres won without Tatis, DD added solid mid priced free agents and won, The Indians are still playing without spending big..ditto the Rays, Texas has the most expensive Keystone combo and lost big anyways, Seattle and Atlanta are choosing to pay their youngsters early for the prime years instead of paying BIG for the declining years. The risk of going big too early for years 23-30 is now considered less risky than going big for years 31-38 and knowing bloody well the last two years are wasteful. All of this will / should in my estimation have an impact of free agency more and more each year.
  3. A ray of light....
  4. Great Playoffs so far..too bad the Tigers aren't part of it. Gotta love the fans in Seattle-San Diego and Philly going crazy ! And gotta give it to ole' DD he took a team to the final four again.
  5. I expect a much improved team with significant turnover in 2023 and I have confidence Harris will deliver. How much better will hinge on bounce back years from key players and and to what degree Harris's "calculated risks" pan out. I do not think he will wait a year to evaluate what we have. He already knows our talent, on an objective basis, and if he is as bright as advertised there is no reason to wait.
  6. I agree building the foundation or repairing it is first priority and filling the roster with mediocre players on multiple year deals just delays the take off but goodness gracious DO NOT trot out the same team in 2023. Who can stomach warmed leftovers of rotten food. Give us something fresh and at least make it interesting if we miss the playoffs. I demand better and we all sure as hell deserve better. MUCH better.
  7. I like 👍 it 84. Taking it to an Art 🖼 form and then some!
  8. So in memory of our Uncle Al which player in your mind best represents his Era ? For me it’s Dawel Lugo.
  9. I’m not as clever as you but then again I am half Canadian 🍁
  10. I think that might have been sarcasm ?
  11. Harris picking up Palacios hopefully demonstrates that defense does matter and he will not tolerate players who are poor defenders. The days of moving the Lugo, Goodrums, Castros etc from position to position hoping they hit while butchering balls in the field I think and hope are gone. Thats progress. Which is why I suspect Badoo has a tall order making the team because he simply can not throw a baseball and teams take full advantage of that. He has to get on base at a high percentage to compensate for all the bases he gives up. He could DH but .....
  12. Harold and Short are now history and I think Willie Castro is only regarded as an outfielder, mainly RF, at this point so he is standing on quicksand also. Of the 12 players on our arbitration list I put the over/under for the number being retained at 3 and I will take the under. Jimenez, Meadows if not retiring/broken, and Soto to trade/release if unable to trade.
  13. Or Harris wants a utility infielder that can actually play the infield ?
  14. Yordan is mini Soto but almost as good for much less $$$$
  15. I don't think we should consider bridging to anybody anymore. We should look for the best third baseman possible and "if" Keith makes it figure out step two. No more assuming a minor leaguer will fill a future MLB position. When they actually make the team/MLB then fit them in via position change or trading them or someone to make them fit. Develop players the best we can but make them actually "beat out" an incumbent the the MLB level.
  16. That's 31 million for all of them. Take the money and use it on new players. None are playing prominent roles in 3 years.
  17. Yes. And I wager his pride would agree with that.
  18. Miggy “earned “ the right to play until he got 3000 hits and 500 home runs and to get paid the full amount of his contract but that’s all. The rest must be based on his contributions on the field like every other player.
  19. Good on Plies. maybe Harris keeps Chadd a while for his "old School" analysis.
  20. Max got hit hard. Did not see that coming. The Mets Aces' are hurting I wager.
  21. May I ask where do you find this information ? And do you think Scot Harris is aware of this ?
  22. Yes they are ..like WOW..so how does Hinch let that happen ? ? Do they not know ? They must know.
  23. Maybe playing Tork at 3B is one of the calculated risks Harris was referring to ? It’s certainly easier finding a first than third baseman. But doesn’t that only add to Torks hitting woes ?
  24. I’d consider the reverse and only sucking at one position 😊
  25. Great info thank you. The arbitration list is the bullseye for Harris trimming players off the 40 either via trade or DFA. I think Jimenez and Meadows and maybe Tony Garcia will be the only holdovers.
