If nothing else it will be interesting to see what the new GM does. He won’t be connected to these players and therefore objectively evaluating them. Doing so should result in significant change in personnel.
I once said on this site Wentz would be better than Manning. You and others correctly said I was wrong but it sure would be nice if he can make it all the same. Lots of good pitches tonight including the long forgotten curveball
The only part of the shift I didn't like was the fourth outfielder/rover. made it feel too much like softball. I wish the change was limited to that. Four guys anywhere on the dirt only adds more strategy to the game which is good.
I believe its 4.6 inches less. So maybe the running game is enhanced and also the players have an easier time of staying on the base hopefully reducing the player is safe but over slid the bag out call.
Being bold would be bringing Verlander back ( two years at stupid $). Him and a solid new GM who can shift through the chaff, add around the edges with one years bats and build toward a 2024 resurgence. Thats buzz.
So who do we all want as our next GM ? I have no clue except hard no on Menzies or anybody in the organization and lean towards someone from a solid team like Dodgers Cardinals Astros Tampa etc.
But who ?
I think Kreifl
Probably the general consensus opinion but for me it’s bye bye Candy. I’d rather let Kriedler stopgap third base with solid defense and hope he can hit at the MLB level. If so you have third covered for awhile.
Then spend the 7 mil towards something else.
The question in my mind is if you bring him back and he plays well do you trust he will continue to do well if you sign him to a multi year free agent contract ? I wouldn’t so for me it’s non tender and move on.
Nothing to lose bringing Tork up. Low bar established to improve upon and if he does his off season can build confidence. If he continues to struggle there’s little difference from where he is now and no amount of AAA success will change that.
