  1. Perhaps Riley will only play every other day or so as he eases back conservatively and that’s why he won’t be in Detroit until later when he can play every day without discomfort?
  2. Are we actually building some momentum ? Cautiuosly optimistic and anxious to see us when Baez hits, Greene and Meadows are back in the lineup and Tork has found his footing. We just might have a fun summer after all boys and girls. Maybe even a "wonderful summer in the neighborhood".."could we"..."should we".
  3. Far do had been solid and surprisingly better than anticipated this year....so far. Silver linings.
  4. Willie "D' Man
  5. Try the mute button.
  6. Paredes with a 3 run bomb today. We gave up on him because he didn't have any power and kept Lugo around forever because of the "sound of the ball off his bat ". Diito Goodrum and Willie Castro.....
  7. Schoop needs to play. He is still has the best upside for our second base position and he needs to hit better to be traded if thats what they want. He's also under contract for next year as well.
  8. I suppose I am pro Javy Baez but very aware of his tendency to look bad at the plate and low walk rate. I think he was the best value signing among all the shortstops. Now I value defense very high, more than many, and he is consistently excellent. I think the intricacies of baseball are valuable though often overlooked like base running and tagging a runner. Again he is excellent. But his best value lies in the energy and knack of raising his performance in game pressure moments. We saw that opening day and again a few days later with the 8th inning ,should have been game winning, 3 run HR that Soto threw away. I think because of our losing that "edge" is off his game and the concentration wavers in trying to carry the team. He's not that but if and when we become competitive I believe he will be right in the center of our success.
  9. I am still very happy to have El Mago on our team. I suspect doubters will also in time. He is an elite talent some of which is unnoticed. His base running today was the only reason we scored.
  10. That's good news. Better to deal with bad news quickly. He can take a few others with him when he leaves...
  11. Burn announcers instead. Start with Jack but no need to stop there...
  12. Cody is the best Tiger beat writer. $10 bucks for the Athletic is way better than $10 for the News or Free IF your just paying for the sports.
  13. I did. I thought .500 was in reach and they would be in playoff "contention" most of the summer. But I am a Fan not a scout.
  14. Another year buried by Memorial Day weekend. Taps or Bagpipes ?
  15. What do you think it is besides insufferable ?
  16. Paredes with another bomb...do not trade with the Rays. Can Al evaluate talent ? Why did we Neve give Sock a long look like Lugo and Willie Castro ?
  17. Watch Paredes outperform Candy going forward. If it wasn't for bad luck we wouldn't have any luck at all.
  18. Cameron is a waste of time. Next.
  19. I would agree with this ranking and analysis.
  20. Freehan was an 11 time All star. Dominating your position for a decade should equal hall Status.
  21. Mine as well. Let's hope Michael doesn't send him fishing in Lake Tahoe.
  22. I think Lolich was the best Tiger pitcher not named Verlander in the last 60 years. He is a HOF in my book along with Freehan and Whitaker. All robbed.
  23. Ya Ray Oyler and Don Wert did not strike fear in many pitchers hearts. Oylers claim to fame was Stanley playing shortstop in the Series and maybe being a high draft pick in the expansion draft ? Maybe first ? Not sure about that though. As for Wert .." Wert singles..Kaline has scored. The fans are streaming on the field and the Tigers have won their first pennant since 1945. Let's listen to the bedlam here at Tiger Stadium" - Ernie Harwell...not sure if perfect but I can hear Ernie clear as a bell.
  24. Wow I was not aware of that.Thanks. I know the 68 Tigers won something like 35 games from the 7th inning on which was great and Gator !
  25. Well I might respectfully differ with you on that. The 68 team had a 31 game winner with a sub 2 era and Mickey Lolich dominated the series including Bob Gibson plus A solid Earl Wilson. The 84 team had Cy young and MVP award winner Hernandez and a big three of Morris Petry and Wilcox not to mention Senior Smoke.
