I agree with the sentiment that Chris I will never fire Al. So we’re stuck . We need to take out the trash and look to 2023. Hate. Hate to say that. Both Castro’s, Hasse (love him) Hill all need to go. Reyes needs to play every day the remainder of the year. He is best option of the retreads to bloom though odds are low. He’s never had that chance. When performance improves trade Schoop Grossman Candy Fullmer Soto Alexander Joey plus the trash for position players that can field and are close to the majors. Build depth Not getting stars or prospects for this bunch. But sold major league players can be had. Then you can audition Clemens and maybe Badoo and Shoort again. Miggy needs to play less and bought out for 2023 The core of remaining pitchers plus Baez Tork Greene is thin but with some solid trades and off season signings we can do much better in 2023

The maddening thing is we do have talent on this team based on multiple years of production in Baez, Meadows, Candy, Schoop, Grossman but they are all stinking up the joint. Yes we have injuries but offensively only Greene, which considering Torks adjustment ,he might not be that much of an impact at this point. Crazy bad. Look at their stats..Grossman has a.263 SLUGGING percentage for one example. It's not just bad it's ugly. "They all need to go out on the town slump busting" - Mark Grace.

I think that's better than many of our current players and he can catch and throw. He's a utility player which suggest he has utility versus the futility of our current bench players.

Unfortunately there isn't much to do until the hitters wake up except trying to keep players like Hasse , Willie C, Harold C from losing games defensively which is why I would send them all down ASAP for Garneau, Short and Reyes ( when ready). I want solid defense when we substitute s starter. We have lost about four games defensively this season already. No reason for that with better defenders in the system and the current bench players can not field OR hit. I would stick with Torkelson and give him time to adjust which makes it hard to promote Clemens from AAA but I doubt he is a major league player anyway. Miggy is blocking him making it difficult to audition players like Clemens as he holds a roster spot on reputation only. It's going to be an increasingly difficult situation that is over the head of Al's ability.

Todays game plan is pitch a shutout and hope the A's make some errors leading to runs. It's worked before !

I wonder if Tampa thinking the ball would be deaden contributed to their decision to trade Meadows and ask for Parades who's main strength is walking. I think the Yankees thought the same thing which is why they passed on all the high priced shortstops snd opted for defense in obtaining Falefa for short and dumping Sanchez ?

So Willie can play both games but Hill can't ? Seriously we a babying Derek Hill ? Wow they have already gone into rebuild mode. It's like a gear shift is stuck in R for rebuild.

What is the obsession with Willie Castro ? is Avila forcing this issue from above or has Hinch given up ? How do you play someone and make excuses in advance for their play ? He obviously knows he does not belong out there. Isn't Harold Castro a better outfielder than Willie ? And why have they given up on Haase in the outfield..not that he is good but he's better than WC. If you want the bat then why not DH and let Meadows play the field ?

You nailed it

Today we wake up to our team playing .296 % baseball, 9 games out of first in the weakest division in baseball and with the worst record in the American League and second worst in all of baseball. How did this happen ?

The fact that we are STILL recycling through Willie Castro, Harold Castro, Cameron, Hill, etc makes me wonder about our player evaluation abilities. Waiting for Victor Reyes to come back. Playing Badoo in centerfield. Maybe other teams do the same but it seems we take a long time to decide about a player which makes me wonder if they can evaluate properly. Look at what Cleveland has done. I mean who are these guys playing so well. SF, Rays, Seattle and others turn over constantly and remain competitive and we still don't know that Willie Castro can't play at the MLB level ? Cleveland let him go how long ago ? It's easy to pile on when the team is down and I am trying not to do so but it sucks as fan to keep hoping and have the hopes shattered ! We are the second worst team in baseball. Think about that. After so much off season promise once again the playoffs were dashed before Mothers day. I hear Hinch saying we need to sty positive because negativity make things worse. makes sense but how much worse can it get ?

Hinch is doing all he can and is desperate putting Willie in left field. The fact he did it the next game after it cost us a game is proof of his desperation and bravery. I can’t be mad but sure don’t agree. But in the famous words of Tony Soprano “ what are ya gonna do “

Good point. I didn’t consider the side effects of medications. That makes a ton of sense.

Yes what is up with Meadows. Do allergies really keep player out this long or is it code for something else ?

It does seem now that the Greene injury was ominous .........

Do we even really know what we have in Jake Rogers ? Or don't have.

When your not hitting as a team..always field your best defensive players. When your not pitching well as team..always field your best defensive team. When you are hitting well..always field your best defensive team..when your pitching well...always field your best defensive team. In Summary..keep Willi Castro the "F" off the field !!

You may very well be right in the long run but maybe it's different at the start ? Probably different for each person.

There are four big differences between this years team and last years teams despite similar records at this time : 1. Talent - This years team has way more talent. Witness Baez, Meadows, Erod, Barnhart, Chafin, Tork etc. 2. Injuries - Mize, Manning, Baez, Greene, Funk, Cisnereo etc. Thats quite a bit. 3. Sustainability - once injuries heal and talent/performance normalizes it should sustain at a competitive level. Last years teams required many career years and flash rookie performances to finish strong. As some here have noted they played over their heads. 4. Expectations - Per Sports_Freak - there was much higher pressure this year than last. It's much easier playing for a loser than a team expected to win. I think this contributed to them playing tight..especially the fielding and lack of clutch hitting. 8-16 sure is ugly. A .500 season now is a major accomplishment but one that is still in the offering as is an enjoyable summer of baseball.

Baez and Candy homers wasted by Soto. Can’t win for losing.
