I have also come to the conclusion that we should focus our money on signing Greene not Skubul long term since he is much more possible and Tarik is not. Great fielder - middle order power bat with hitting skills and current face of the Tigers along with Skubs.

Watching the Oakland er A's series it seems clear we are best suited having Meadows in Center, Baez at short and McStinky at third for the playoffs. We don't pitch nor hit quite good enough to give runs away on defense. McStinky is not a shortstop over long stretches and Keith is not a good defender anywhere on the diamond.

Morton pitched well with bad luck in that the few bad pitches were all home runs. Velocity seemed ok and lots of swing and miss. I think he will be fine. Cleveland will cool and we will right the ship but the knock at the door is loud and probably will get louder before it fades away.

I happened upon a podcast from a guy named Valenti on YouTube last night by chance. In essence he said Harris only wants good not great teams. That he is "settling" for good and forfeiting great. I found his argument patently unfair and incorrect. I mean the best record in the AmericanLeague/Baseball seems better than good to me. I can't believe Harris is subjected to this type of cynicism. It's like a child whining on Christmas morning. Needless to say I did not subscribe not hit the like button.

Tough three games. We will do better playing them in October.

I am happy with this trade deadline "haul" and retaining our core prospects. But I value "success" by having a large percentage of the season , April thru October, as being relevant rather than just rings. Baseball is a very long season and having experienced so many without hope and so few with titles I appreciate the measured approach. Winning at the MLB level and watching players progress from draft to Detroit is enjoyable for me. I remember Harris stating something very similar during his opening press conference after being hired. It's when I knew we had the right guy.

Trades so far about as expected. Not much return for rentals. More for controllable players. Still think Scottie has something more in store.
