THE MICHIGAN PANTHERS ARE BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John_Brian_K replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Lions
I think Tom Adams Field would be perfect, but the parking around there is not that great. -
And act like those of you on the left do not do the exact same thing. smh

So apparently we are supposed to approve spending bills like this almost every year...or at least propose them. When was the last one? America First? What about before that? I am sure this is not a unique thought, but I wonder if we are supposed to have a spending bill almost every year...in years we do not....do we just stock pile money?

THE MICHIGAN PANTHERS ARE BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone brought up on 97.1 today a question about a new NFL team in Detroit. It was laughed off and rightly so, but I could not help but yearn for the possibility of having a new NFL team that was local to root for without betraying the state by rooting for the Steelers or Rams or something. I do not actively root for the Lions anymore, have not for a few years. Still like watching football, but it is just such a waste of time with this organization. I looked up some stats...we have averaged under 6 wins per year since the inception of the Lions...almost 100 years and even less over the past 20 years...it was just over 5 I think. It is brutal. Give me the Up North Hawks or something, come on Dan Gilbert...you buy everything else..get working on it. -

Maybe. I am not watching every game like I used to, but after posting this I went and checked and dude is still leading the team in scoring and while not very efficient at .45% still seems to be the guy everyone on the team is trying to feed when he is on the court. I have no doubt you watch more games than me, but out of the 16 so far this year I have watched more so far this year then in years past already. I am just excited to be able to talk about basketball again. Out of all the major sports basketball was the one I was the best at as a kid and the one I played more than any other. -
I have been preaching this all over for the past few weeks. 100%

Seems like everyone looks to him when they need a basket. I agree that can be bad for the development of young guys, but he makes them more than not from what I am seeing. -

I put all the below in the wrong Pistons thread: It was really disheartening to hear all the cheers for the Lakers at LCA. I feel like basketball in Detroit is all about who's hot at the moment. I will also never forget being at a BW3 to watch the Pistons V Miami and hearing people going crazy when Wade stole the ball late and drove to the basket and dunked it...it basically was an exclamation point on the end of that era for the Detroit Pistons...it was 2006 I just went and looked it up. I remember being so mad that people in Detroit were so actively rooting against the Pistons because D Wade was all the rage in basketball then..I hated it. Also I know I am WAAAAAY behind on the times, but LA's team has like 6-7 guys who used to be the #1 on other teams all playing together now...it felt super weird watching all those SS players on one team. Lebron, Carmello, Davis, Westbrook, Jordan, Howard...it was like an All Star game from 4-5 years ago One last observation...again from a guy who loves basketball, but has been out of the loop for a good 10 years..has Gerami Grant always been a scorer like he has been for us? I mean he is the goto guy when they need a score. -

What will make this bill a winner? What would make the bill a loser? Say 10-20 years down the line. It is a pretty ambitious bill.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but I know when I got to a local game I want to see my team win more than the other players. I hear this take a lot and really do not get it. Those guys being out gives your team a better chance to win. I mean MAYBE if it was the guys last year or something and he was one of the all time greats. I also understand there may be some Warrior fans in this area, but if that is the case they get to be mad at their team..it is not like anything the Pistons did. -

John_Brian_K replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Detroit Red Wings
Nope, that is the problem. Pistons and Wings are almost always on at the same time and it seems to be a crapshoot which game they show. I do not have a standard cable package and only get Ballys in SD the basic channel. It is all on me for being cheap. -
I heard that George Lynch was back with Dokken on a few stops on the tour so decided to take a listen to one of my favorites from one the recent concerts "Heaven Sent" and George sounded great...Don was basically talking the lyrics though...it was pretty brutal. I was actually going to check out tickets to a show that was as close to us as possible before he started talking the lyrics. I do not want to see that. And George was probably my favorite guitarist from that era of rock, maybe even more so that Eddie. If they end up playing Detroit I MAY grab some tickets, but I think the closest was Ohio.

Almost an hour and a half a day average listening and still not done...this is the unabridged version that is like 1200 pages. I can see the end in sight though!

I also thought black out restrictions applied to local games? I really do not like ESPN, I do not hate it like some people, but I do not care at all about the talk have not not turned it on other than to see if one of our games was on it after trying Ballys first in over 20 years. I just want to watch my local teams. -

What am I missing here? It is not free. I have Disney+, but not Hulu. You have to add the ESPN+ to the Disney package you already have. -

The game is on ESPN+ again....no chance for me to watch it. -
Yeah I mean you can draft a contract like that, but the next team takes that stipulation out of theirs and that guy is over there now.
-
Honestly I wish it was in the collective bargaining to just max contracts at 8 years at the least..not sure if the players will sign that though. I mean I get that it is the landscape now and if you want those top tier guys you have to "play ball", BUT in this class of SS...I just do not think you throw the check book at Correa and just cross your fingers and hope it works out. We are not one guy away from a WS...I think right now we are 1-2 good guys away from the playoffs. Honestly I would be more happy if they said they got Correa for 200 mil over 5 years than 300 mil over 10. He would still be the highest paid SS per year and we are only on the hook for 5 years. I KNOW that will never happen, just sayin.
-
10 years 300 I may be able to stomach, but even then I would prefer one of the other guys on a shorter term. We are seeing this all over baseball. Guys getting 10 year deals and just not really living up to them, but it is what it is for now so the term is pretty much set in stone at this point. Correa will get 10 years...how much over those 10 years? Like I said I could stomach 300, but if he wants what Lindor got? No thanks. And yeah I would 100% let him walk for that extra 41 mil...even at 300 it is hard to stomach, but I would be ok with it. I just think there is a better than average chance there will not just be a couple years regret with this contract at the end...I think the regret will start pretty quickly and just get uglier from there. The key thing to your entire second paragraph is "when he is on the field". There may be no cap in baseball and we did have an owner who was willing to throw the book at the salary to try and make a contender we cannot just assume Chris will follow that legacy. I expect the Tigers to be in the top half of payrolls on most years, but I am not going to just expect them to be in the top 5 every year. Correa is not a slam dunk and giving him over 300 mil for 10 years just makes me nervous. You guys were right about some of the others in the past. Miggys extension, Fielder, Dantrelle etc and I was on the wrong side of those arguments...if they do sign him I hope I am on the wrong side again.
-
I think Seager is going to sign for a pretty substantial amount less than Correa, but again that is just an opinion. I guess we will all see pretty soon how much these guys get and where they go. Give me Story or Simeon on a 5-6 year deal for 20 or so per...or whatever they may get. I would be ok with that.
-
I guess, but most injuries are fluky anyway. Once in awhile you get a guy that is pretty brittle compared to the norm and that is what I am worried about. I think there is a real possibility wherever he ends up the team/fan base is going to REALLY hate that contract REALLY quickly. Again that is just my gut though, but it is pretty substantial. I am 100% honestly shocked I am one of the only people on here who seems to think signing him for over 300+ would be a bad idea. Usually I am on the other side with the "It is not my money" type takes..
-
Even giving him 152 his rookie year he is averaging 115 games a year....300+ mil for 115 games? Now he could very well go on to play 150+ games every year from here on out, but to me that is pie in the sky thinking...something 2010 JBK would be doing right now...while I am still an optimist...I also want to see the team contending every year for a long time.
