Looks like glenn is going to the jets. the league is feasting on the lions' corpse before its even cold. bears fans are already talking themselves into their division title next year.
-
better than every team but one... honestly, its better that osu won than nd. better for the big ten, better for the rivalry with michigan, and better because notre dame is always always always overrated. just like they were this year. marcus freeman SHOULD go to the nfl if someone is dumb enough to offer him a big contract (paging the saints on line one), because nd will go back to being a 2-3 loss team next year.
-
i havent seen anything linking the wings to jt miller and that's a good thing. too old for their timeline and too expensive.

it would be karmic justice if detroit finished 13th and got the #1 pick. it will never happen, but it would be justice.

i only saw parts of the 3rd and overtime, but when elmer was on the ice he looked like he did that last time he was here: big, slow, long, and passive. like g2, i did see him use his reach to poke the puck away a few times but i did not notice him throwing his body around like i would have hoped. but its just one game and i did miss most of it. seider remains in beast mode. he's really gone back to being a physical menace which is good to see. unfortunately the team offense has disappeared again. seems like when kane isnt on a bender the team sort of falls apart. there's no one really outside of larkin/raymond/debrincat who is a capable offensive player for the second line. as kane goes, the team goes. and unlike last year, there is no ghost to score from defense. as has been noted here multiple times gustafson and tarasenko were awful awful signings. they have no replacement for walman/ghost from last year and its killed them other than the period with the new coach bump/kane resurgence. i suspect if they are lucky enough to make the playoffs they will be a very easy out. teams will hunt kane and raymond and brutalize the 3rd pair defense and the wings will be easily swept without big time puck luck.

i would trade beasley for a first round pick.
-
nobody is going to trade for hendon hooker. he has no value. he hasnt played.
-
i dont think beasley will get as much as we think. the real concern is overpaying beasley based on one year. dont give him too many years on any deal. go find the next beasley on a nice one year deal. better yet, DRAFT the next beasley in round 2.

who got hurt?

it would have taken a LOT more for michigan to be any good this year. their entire offense sucked, not just the qb. i'm not sure it will be massively better next year, and im sure the defense will be worse.
-
lol. i dont know why you guys have such a massive chip on your shoulder. you were the best team in college football this year. like you said, everyone spent money. relax and enjoy your 2 loss national championship. take a little ribbing. 😉
-
ohio state should blow the doors off notre dame. despite the coaching malpractice that was the michigan game, ohio state is the best team in college football. money well spent.
-
two loss national champions shouldnt exist.

he's gping to find things are a little different in chicago. the bears are a mess. ownership is terrible (but they wont meddle). he has a lame duck gm and new president who seems to think everything is about him. they are embroiled in a stadium controversy and asking a broke city and state for money for it. oh, and their oline stinks. caleb williams has talent to make plays "off platform" but hasnt really shown much in the pocket. he's not someone like goff who makes good reads and works the middle, but he has a lot more athletic ability than goff has and can get out of the pocket (despite the "jared goff ran a good 40" folks, he aint mobile). they have a scat back in swift but no other backs. they will need to replace 4/5 of their oline. they have an aging free agent at wr who makes too much money in keenan allen, a good wr who thinks he's the best in the league in dj moore, and a rookie. they have an overrated tight end who is just ok. the defense is solid but not as good as they think it is. the secondary is really good though and young. and you have to deal with bears fans who think they should be 12-5 at a minimum every season. they were printing playoff tickets when they took williams this year. he's got a real challenge on his hands now. i like ben johnson and thank him for his service, but i hope he falls flat on his face. we'll welcome him back in 3 years. maybe.
-
seriously. the lions have been a top 5 offense for three seasons when he's been in charge, went 15-2 this year, and then they lose a playoff game becuase of jared goff turnovers and injuries on defense and the guy is suddenly a bum. come on. he's one of the best play callers in the league. tip your hat, buy him a beer, and wish him nothing but pain and misery in chicago.

i couldnt care less about this game. football is dead to me after saturday.

love it when cade outplays jalen green.

i'd be worried about lavine coming here for all the reasons ive stated before: selfish, plays no defense, opted out last year rather than play, will think this is "his team" and thus make even more selfish decisions. plus, where does ivey fit in next year? on the positive side, it would give them a dynamic scorer that they lack. he's kind of like a bigger kyrie irving, but more reluctant to pass. if kyrie and luka can coexist in dallas, why cant lavine and cade coexist here? the fit with lavine, ivey, and cade would be really awkward and i dont see how they make it work with them being on the court at the same time. unless they just want to eschew defense altogether and just try to outscore teams. or do you then move ivey for a rim protector? and if they got lavine they would be capped out, right? im not sure about that but i think theyre right up against it next year. youre trading interior defense and hustle for expensive superstar offense. in the long run, superstar offense is harder to come by. but i still have reservations about taking lavine and his deal.

new coach bump was fun while it lasted.

would you make that deal?

this is not part of any "process". youre trying to put a narrative on a series of random events. its a human thing to do but the 90s red wings are not some blueprint for every detroit team that gets good. this wasnt their year because of injuries to the defense. they may never have "a year". it happens.

copp/1st round/wallinder would be a dream deal for detroit. buffalo would likely want kasper or cossa. but who knows!
