luka isnt so light anymore. get in shape luka.
-
this is the nfl. this game is a long way from being over. my $5 rams moneyline is looking solid!
-
sam darnold sucks. even with an amazing wr corps and a decent oline he cant do anything. the vikings should be running the damn ball all game. too late now.
-
luka light. imagine if we had wemby too like we should have had.
-
keep him the press box in case someone gets hurt.
-
napoleon. napolean sounds like the latest alternate meat burger. sam darnold is who we thought he was. i'd much rather play the vikings than the rams or washington.

cowboys are a pretty talented team but are very injured. that said, i dont think jerry picks coaches who could be successful because that will take the spotlight away from jerry jones. he takes milquetoast yes men who the rest of the league regards as mediocre, that way if the cowboys win jerry wont have to share the credit. ask jimmy johnson. maybe he'll finally change his ways? i doubt it but you never know, he's getting really old. it doesnt seem like a fit for ben johnson but none of us really know what he wants. he's interviewed with new england (young qb, stable front office, not a lot of talent on the team), the bears (young qb, average talent, stable but horrible ownership), the raiders (no qb, some young talent, no gm, terrible ownership...but tom brady), and jacksonville (youngish qb, some talent, potential gm roadblock, and bad ownership). there's no real pattern. everyone speculating on what he might do or want is just guessing. would jerry hire deion? he's not thought of as a football savant so that's ok with jerry, but he's also famous and would be the most spotlighted coach in the league. so not ok with jerry. if the pattern holds, jerry will hire someone obscure who he can push around. if it doesnt, he could look to ben johnson as the best candidate available. i wouldnt be surprised to see someone like jim caldwell turn up in searches. quiet, minority, not seen as a threat, experience, some success in the past.

i guess the cobb teams of 07-08-09 could also be a mini dynasty. but they got caught up with the A's and then the ruth yankees toward the end of cobb's run.
-
the dominance of the yankees really distorts this. the tigers arent that bad when you consider the competition. yankees 27, cards 11, red sox and A's 9, dodgers and giants 8, pirates and reds 5. then the tigers. ahead of the cubs and sox, orioles twins/senators, and indians. the tigers really havent had a dynasty. the closest was the greenberg/gehringer teams in the 30s and 40s who had 4 world series and 2 titles in 11 years from 34 to 45. other than that its really been one offs. 68 and 84. those teams never achieved dynasty status because of the yankees and the 80s group underachieving. the other group was the cabrera/verlander teams that never won it all and probably underahieved, especially 2013.

now this is more like it! all of us who trashed yzerman - me included - maybe we need to tske a step back? i dont really believe that for this offseason (which was awful), but maybe the idea of bringing in vets like chairot, compher, copp to play with young draftees was the right choice after all? and for those of us who clamor for larianov or fedorov or some new hot coaching prospect, maybe all they needed was a little old fashioned recycled hockey coach speak and not some analytical based new hotness? interesting run. hope they can keep it up.
-
cade is more valuable to detroit because he has the ball in his hands.
-
because of his teammates, not because of him.
-
scottie barnes is very overrated. has been from the day franz wagner whooped his ass in the ncaa tourney. is he better than cade now that cade is actually healthy? i hope even a contrarian sob like you would say no.
-
remember when people said scottie barnes was better than cade?
-
the wings cant do the deal without copp or compher or chairot's contract. unless you ltir husso and even that might not do it. buffalo doesnt WANT to rebuild anymore.
-
tom gores demanded that his team build around andre drummond and trade picks (that became shai) so he could get blake griffin's last gasp in order to do it. if we DONT make a stupid "8th seed or bust" trade i'll be shocked. the thing is, the bottom of the east is tanking HARD. and some of the good teams are really beat up. they dont have to make a trade to contend for the play in. they will almost assuredly make it unless cade goes down. dont ruin it by trading for someone's problem. use that cap space wisely. accumulate assets and draft well. that will get you where you want to be.

rise of montreal too. and drop for the bruins.
-
plus copp? that's a big price to pay but it will probably be necessary. wings wont be the only team bidding.
-
petry wont cut it salary wise. it will have to be copp or compher. otherwise the wings wont have space to fit couzens in without some other manuever like ltir'ing husso. which they may not want to do.
-
and you wont get couzens for just a first and andrew copp. he's a second line center that can score in the nhl. those dont grow on trees. its more valuable than debrincat was, imo. and they got a discount on debrincat because he was going to walk after the season and wanted to go to detroit. debrincat cost a first, a middling prospect, and veteran filler. couzens likely costs a first, a prospect ready to contribute now, and filler. kasper is the most likely to be dealt if any deal goes through.
-
you have to trade salary too. the wings are almost capped out.
-
texas deserved that loss. pin it right on sark's head for trying to get cute on the goaline. running wide on second down killed them. RUN IT STRONG. michigan spends 4 (really 3) years showing you how to beat ohio state and still everyone wants to drop back 30 times a game. we'll see if notre dame has figured it out. probably not considering how they played against similarly weak penn state. run the damn ball. and tell ryan day his team is too soft to beat you. i hate osu (and notre dame) but back to back big ten champs would be cool.
-
what would you trade for dylan couzens? asp? danielson? kasper? a first round pick? it will likely take some combination of the above to get him. you'd have to get copp or compher into the deal too to make salary room. maybe stretch husso at the same time.

theyre playing harder. it also looks like theyre shooting more and reducing the level of other team's quality shots from the center. they also seem to be keeping possession better. under lalonde - especially if they had a lead - they would just dump the puck and retreat, playing defense to just hold on. they dont appear to be doing that any more. its also puck luck. 4 posts against winnipeg! kane began his resurgence under lalonde but it has really picked up now. they now have two lines that can score. the underlying numbers are better than before, but not a TON better.
