  1. typically after scandals like these you want to bring in the most trusted, non-scandal person. someone who can promise stability and a return to the morals that the university likes to think it stands for. whittingham would accomplish that for michigan.
  2. will he sour on michigan once the university caves and agrees to the PE deal?
  3. fantastic? he caught 15 passes all year. most people's objections to him were giving up draft capital to move up to take a guy nobody had on their radars. secondly, to do so at a position where you already have three star players (counting laporta as a reveiver), and when you had so many other pressing needs. but to your earlier point, it is too early to call the class a disappointment. i was probably too hyperbolic in that. but for this season - other than ratledge - it didnt provide much help.
  4. after getting their asses kicked multiple times by the spurs, does okc spend some of its massive draft capital to get a "star" player? even if its just for one season?
  5. and the bears have been the luckiest team in the nfl. every year there is a team with a horeshoe up its ass and this year its chicago. that team could easily be 8-8 and has played a very easy schedule. we'll see about next season.
  6. 2024 and 2025 lions drafts look pretty bleak right now. nobody is perfect, but maybe the consensus draft folks were right to wonder why the need to trade up for martin, manu, and teslaa? this is the first time theyve tasted failure. lets see how they respond. the fancy stats say theyre still an excellent offensive team, im not sure i buy it but that's what they say. on defense? injuries killed them last year, but even when theyre healthy they cant seem to get to the qb. and this year they couldnt stop the run even with mcneill back and their first round pick being a supposed run stuffer.
  7. you guys are never going to believe this, but AD got hurt again today and had to leave the game. i know, i know. its hard to believe...
  8. the idea that they can survive with just draft picks and undrafted free agents isnt going to cut it. they simply havent brought in enough cheap talent in the last two drafts. holmes' first three drafts built a great foundation for a 15 win team undone by injury, but the last two have been subpar and its hurting them. again, it happens, but the vibe around the lions shifted from plucky underdog to spoiled, entitled, and cocky. do i need another press conference where brad calls out reporters about where he was right? do we always need to promote from within? to take our udfa's and assume they can always be the "next man up"? time for some soul searching in allen park.
  9. they lost because their players arent good enough or arent playing well enough. it happens. the rams were **** two years ago and are now one of the best in the league. same could happen to the lions next year. but what built their team - offensive line dominance - is over. they need some major talent additions. and no, brad, that doesnt mean we trade up for a kid from zimbabwe in round 3 hoping he can play 4 years from now.
  10. all that stat says to me is that robinson is the one piston on the floor who can shoot.
  11. i'll root for okc over the spurs. okc built themselves through trades and smart drafting. setting themselves uo as a dynasty through shrewd moves. san antonio was gifted multiple top picks. **** them.
  12. monken probably isnt that bad of an option.
  13. Did his wife say it was ok for him to say that? hope so for his sake.
  14. amen, brother. its infuriating to watch harden simply run right into somebody, fall down, and get the call every time. brunson too.
  15. smh
  16. someone will get hurt and cossa will come up.
  17. if wemby can stay healthy he'll be a generational player. yet another gift the league has given to the spurs via the lottery.
  18. when is the last time the red wings and pistons were both in first place at christmas?
  19. might be the best win of the season. they got outplayed in the second, but didnt give up ans stayed with one of the best teams in the league for the rest of the game. fix the third pair at the deadline, get kane back healthy, KEEP RAYMOND AND LARKIN HEALTHY, and maybe you have something...
  20. anthony davis is owed $54 million this year, $58 million next year, and then has an option for $62 million thr yeae after that. when he'll be 35 years old. the dude is always hurt now. no. no. no. no. i dont care if he makes you better when he plays, HE NEVER PLAYS.
  21. bama-oklahoma and miami-a & m both do big ratings. 14+ the other two games were 6.2 and 4.4. because no one gives a **** about tulane and james madison. enough already, ncaa.
  22. "with an nba return on hold". bwaaahaaahaaahaaa. the dude who sat out a year for "mental health reasons" while collecting a $30 million pay check is never coming back to the nba. check yourself marcus.
  23. it would be more encouraging if it werent done mostly on the backs of the ahl veterans down there.
  24. can someone stop brad holmes from trading up for projects? and please remind him of his 2021-2023 mojo. since then, the drafts have been middling at best. the lions have now entered the phase when their team is becoming very expensive. they need draft capital to fill roles cheaply. they dont need to trade multiple picks to get brad holmes' newest vanity project. offensive tackle should be their #1 concern. those dont come available in free agency like iol do. which means i fully expect the lions to draft a weakside linebacker in round one.
