doing what? icing the puck? lobbing it up the boards to center ice? the entire wings front line did almost nothing all game. they got lucky that markstrom was off his game and they have Kane. nobody other than kane is creating much of anything. watching the devils possess the puck, pass, move, forecheck and shoot and then watching the wings desperately try to corral the puck and then dump it to center ice over and over and over is like watching them two or three years ago. to someone's earlier point, what was the point of re-signing veleno? what does he do that kasper doesnt?

sam darnold will turn back into sam darnold at some point. i'd much rather have him on the vikings than matt stafford. stafford is a much better qb. but the vikes drafted a qb in the first round last year. dealing their limited draft capital for an old qb like stafford doesnt seem like a solid long term move. otoh, flags fly forever.

would have been nice to have him on mathurin. otoh, it would allow indy to just have a floater on defense to clog the lane and double cade because ausar is useless on offense.

cade missed an open three and a bunch of tough layups in the 4th. but if you want to be a max player and an all star, you have to make those when it counts. or at least draw fouls. hey, its only one game. and last year he looked great in game one against miami (also a loss). so lets all settle down. and besides, in the grand scheme of things you should want them to lose. need that #5 pick again!
